Position Purpose

To prepare and process the weekly payroll and associated activities in a timely and accurate manner, and to provide expert customer service to our customers.

Our Goal is to pay all employees (our customers) accurately and on time, which promotes the Payroll Team as a professional and supportive team, allowing employees to serve their customers better.

Operating Context

The Federal Group Payroll Team is responsible for the processing of weekly and monthly payrolls for approximately 2,500 employees. Our payroll team provides services to The Wrest Point Hotel Casino, Tasmanian , Vantage Hotel Group (including all the 9/11 bottle-shops), The Henry Jones Art Hotel, the award winning Saffire on the east coast of and our world class story-telling hotel, Macq01 on the Waterfront.

The payroll team is also responsible for Cope Sensitive Freight which operates around , and several other companies within a variety of industries (including Hospitality, Gaming & Entertainment, Retail, Transport and Pastoral) making this a uniquely varied organisation.

Autonomy Works under the general supervision and guidance of the Payroll Supervisor but with the ability to work autonomously to achieve individual objectives and contribute to overall team objectives. Work is largely generated by payroll process timeframes, with additional activity required to be prioritised in order to meet appropriate deadlines. Prioritises workload and uses discretion to determine how to best achieve the required outcomes.

Position Accountabilities 1. Working knowledge of relevant legislation as it applies to Payroll (eg LSL, Workers Comp, Super, Tax) 2. Apply operational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks to ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time. 3. Attend to Payroll queries promptly and professionally, escalating any unknown issues appropriately. 4. Respond to and resolve issues that are logged via the Issue Register. 5. Work cooperatively with the payroll team, and for the business, to meet operational and team objectives. 6. General understanding of Time and Attendance systems and how these interface with Payroll 7. Processing Termination Payments (including ETP’s) 8. Applying sound audit practices by contributing to the entry and checking of all transactions by the team 9. Has computer skills with proficiency in Excel, Word and Outlook 10. Prides self on accuracy, attention to detail and providing exceptional customer service

Success Profile

Essential Qualifications and  3+ years experience in large volume payroll required Experience  Chris21 Payroll experience preferred.  Generalist Human Resources knowledge preferred. Level of Expertise  Legislative knowledge as it applies to Payroll (Modern Awards, NES, Superannuation, Taxation, Terminations, ETP’s etc.)  Experience with resolving Payroll issues.  Understanding of Time and Attendance systems and how these integrate with Payroll Systems.  Computer skills with proficiency in MS Excel.
