Binding for the Journal of Roman Studies Messrs. W. H. Smith and Son, Ltd., no longer supply the standard binding cases for the Journal as heretofore, but undertake to bind specially volumes in brown art canvas, lettered in gold to match the standard cover previously made, at a cost approximately of 21s. a single volume, 23s. 6d. for two volumes bound together, and 25s. 6d. for three volumes in one. Orders may be handed in at any one of their Bookshops or Bookstalls throughout the country, or sent direct to the Bindery at Bridge House, Lambeth, S.E. 1. PRESENT ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION - TWO POUNDS THE object of the Society is to effect for what the Hellenic Society, now for many years, has been doing for Greece. Its scope embraces the history, art and archaeology of Rome, Italy and the , down to about A.D. 700. Medieval and Renaissance Italy have been left to other bodies already engaged on these subjects.

THE JOURNAL OF ROMAN STUDIES The Journal of Roman Studies is pubh'shed by the Society in half-yearly parts—for the present in one annual volume—and is issued gratuitously and post free to all subscribing members. The Journal is sold to non-subscribers at the rate of £3 a volume. An arrangement has been effected between , the Hellenic Society and the Classical Association by which the Journals of the three bodies will be conducted in harmony and will occupy distinct provinces of learning.

THE LIBRARY AND COLLECTIONS In connection with the Hellenic Society, the Roman Society maintains at 50 Bedford Square a joint library of Greek and , archaeology and history, and a collection of lantern-slides, film-strips and photographs. These are open to members of both Societies. Members of the Roman Society are entitled in respect of their membership to borrow three books at a time, and to borrow lantern slides at a charge of 3d. each. Both books and slides can be sent by post. Film-strips are now also available. Copies of the Joint Library Catalogue and the Slide Catalogue can be borrowed. All communications respecting books, lantern slides and film-strips should be made to the Librarian at 50 Bedford Square, London, W.C.I.

MEETINGS Meetings for the reading and discussion of papers are held, by permission of the Society of Antiquaries, at Burlington House, Piccadilly, W.I, and others are arranged at various places in the country. A programme is circulated in September or October.

MEMBERSHIP AND SUBSCRIPTIONS The Society consists of life members, annual members, student-associates and subscribing libraries and institutions. The life-membership composition for persons over fifty years of age is twenty guineas, for others thirty guineas. The annual subscription for members is two pounds, for student-associates one pound. Those who are desirous of joining the Society are invited to communicate with the Secretary at 50 Bedford Square, London, W.C. 1, to whom also all subscriptions should be sent.
