  • Norway Norway Is Considered the Most Scenic Country in Scandinavia and Offers a Wide Range of Land- Scapes
Crossing Longfjell Bridge over Eidfjord Norway Norway is considered the most scenic country in Scandinavia and offers a wide range of land- scapes. Mighty glaciers created over millions of years numerous deep fjords and bays, so water will be our constant companion on the tour. More than ten times we are crossing by ferry one of the picturesque fjords and pass hundreds of water- falls and raging rivers. Again and again it goes from sea level up to the fells, as the plateaus of Norway are called. Dense forests are also on the program as one or the other island and skerry along the coast. Dozens of tunnels are carved in the rock, including the Laerdalstunnelen, with nearly 25 km the world’s longest road tunnel. With the Holmenkollen we visit the Mecca of the Nordic winter sports and cross Telemark, in this county the skiing was invented over 150 years ago. At Norway’s most famous waterfall Vor- ingsfossen we spend a night, over 180 meters the water plunges into the depths. And the Gei- rangerfjord and Norway’s best known mountain road Trollstigvegen are other musts on the tour before we are back in Oslo. • Extension of Trollheimen Tectono-Stratigraphic Sequence in Deep Synclines Near Molde and Brattvåg, Western Gneiss Region, Southern Norway
Extension of Trollheimen tectono-stratigraphic sequence in deep synclines near Molde and Brattvåg, Western Gneiss Region, southern Norway PETER ROBINSON Robinson, P.: Extension of Trollheimen tectono-stratigraphic sequence in deep synclines near Molde and Brattvåg, Western Gneiss Region, southern Norway. Norsk Geologisk Tidsskrift, Vol. 75, pp. 181-198. Oslo 1995. ISSN 0029-196X. A 70 km-long belt along Moldefjord contains a well-defined sequence of Caledonide thrust nappes infolded into Baltica basement, corresponding exactly to the sequence in the Surnadal syncline and Trollheimen, from base to top, the Risberget, Sætra, Blåhø-Surna, and Støren Nappes. Quartzites in areas of basement rnay correspond to Åmotsdal Quartzite tectonically sandwiched with basement in Trollheimen. The metamorphic discontinuity, previously described in the Surnadal area, between high amphibolite facies Surna Nappe and low amphibolite facies Støren Nappe, persists through the area, and newly discovered zoisite-phengite eclogite boudins in the Sætra Nappe and locally in the Risberget suggest discontinuities at lower levels. All levels are pervaded by subhorizontal lineation parallel to fo ld axes. Lineation is related to sinistral shear features including porphyroclast tails, S-C fabrics, shear bands, tilted boudins, mylonite, ultramylonite, and sheath and tubular fo lds superimposed on earlier structural features and indicating a phase of late Scandian sinistral shear under low amphibolite conditions parallel to the length of the orogen.

  • The Counteractive Effect Between Competitive Tendering and Structural Changes in the Norwegian Ferry Sector
B DEDICATION To my late sister Flora E. Mwesiumo who passed away during the early stages of this work. i PREFACE It was during my internship at Tanzania National Hospital in 2007 that for the first time I was practically engaged in the public procurement practice. I was involved in procurement planning, sourcing, evaluation, and selection of suppliers. Competitive tendering was the main procurement method we often applied. That experience was both, challenging and exciting; several times we had to repeat tendering process due to insufficient number of bidders. By then, I did not have much knolwledge about dynamics of markets and their implications to the competitive tendering process. Later on in 2008, I joined an International consulting firm, Ernst & Young and worked as an Auditor. During my tenure, I was on several occasions assigned to review procurement processes and procurement accounts of our clients. Through discussions and interrogations with clients, it was vivid that, in some cases, due to limited number of potential suppliers, purchasing/procurement personnel were facing a big challenge to acquire the best quality goods/services at lowest possible prices. Frankly speaking, due to my limited knowledge about market processes and dynamics , I could not give much advise apart from insisting them to stick to their procurement policies and keep proper records of transactions. Thanks to Industrial organisation course I took in my first semister at Molde University College, this course taught me about the behavior of key players on demand and supply sides within markets/industries. In addition to that, it also taught me about the implications of such behavior and the consequences of decisions taken by these players.

  • E-Groceries, Digitalization and Sustainability: Which Governance, Planning and Regulation Mix Do Our Cities Need?
Website: http://www.nectar-eu.org/ Cluster 2: Policy and Environment E-groceries, digitalization and sustainability: Which governance, planning and regulation mix do our cities need? Molde University College, Molde, Norway, 11th and 12th of October 2018 Call for Paper Cluster 2 of NECTAR (Network of European Communications and Transport Activities Research) focuses on policy and environment and is organizing a meeting in Molde (Norway) on the 11th and 12th of October 2018. Recent technology improvements and digitalization have had a profound impact on economies all- around the world. This will change how people interact with one another, how they work, how they travel and how they shop. Typical examples are driverless cars, home delivery by drones and productivity growth through robotization. Some of these technologies are still in their infancy, but other improvements can materialize in the near future. At the same time, there is a need to reduce Green House Gas (GHG) emissions and regional/local growth in motorized transport. Concentrating on digitalized services connected to groceries, in general, with a specific focus on food as a subset, is relevant and important. In fact, a more transport efficient distribution of groceries to the final consumer has a significant potential for reducing the carbon footprint. Research shows that online grocery stores can reduce up to 50% of GHG emissions grocery deliveries produce. While such estimates are perhaps optimistic and contested by other research, the issue is important and worth investigating given its potential for GHG emission reductions. The growth of the e-grocery industry and its impact on transport depends on several factors.
