Then I saw lightning from heaven and I’ve never been the same. (Chorus) I’m gonna climb a mountain. I’m gonna shout about it. I am a child of love. I found a world of freedom. I found a friend in Jesus. I am a child of love. I’ve felt the sting of the fire but I saw you in the flames. Just when I thought it was over, you broke me out of the grave. (Chorus) Yeah, yeah, oh, I am a child of love! Yeah, oh, I am a child of love! Nothing can change the way You love me. Nothing can change the way I belong to you. Yes, I do. Nothing can separate. Nothing can change the way You love me. Nothing can change the way I belong to you. Yes, I do. Nothing can separate. I’m gonna climb a mountain. I am a child of love. I found a world of freedom. I am a child of love. I’m gonna climb a mountain. I’m gonna shout about it. I am a child of love. I found a world of freedom. I found a friend in Jesus. I am a child of love. People: Amen Pastor: Drawn to Christ and seeking God’s abundance, let us confess our sin. Silence is kept for reflection. Pastor: God, our provider, People: help us. It is hard to believe there is enough to share. We question your ways when they differ from the ways of the world in which we live. We turn to our own understanding rather than trusting in you. We take offense at your teachings and your ways. Turn us again to you. Where else can we turn? Share with us the words of eternal life and feed us for life in the world. Amen. Pastor: Beloved people of God: in Jesus, the manna from heaven, you are fed and nourished. By Jesus, the worker of miracles, there is always more than enough. Through Jesus, the bread of life, you are shown God’s mercy: you are forgiven and loved into abundant life. People: Amen.

Song of Reflection Jesus Messiah He became sin, who knew no sin; that we might become His righteousness; He humbled Himself, and carried the cross. Love so amazing, Love so amazing. (Chorus) Jesus, Messiah; name above all names; Blessed Redeemer; Emmanuel. The Rescue for sinners, the Ransom from heaven; Jesus, Messiah, Lord of all. His body the bread, His blood the wine; broken and poured out, all for love. The whole earth trembled, and the veil was torn. Love so amazing, Love so amazing. (Chorus) All our hope is in You, all our hope is in You All the glory to you God, the Light of the World (Chorus) Jesus, Messiah: Lord of All The Lord of All, the Lord of All Daniel Carson | | Ed Cash | Jesse Reeves © 2008 Vamos Publishing | worshiptogether.com songs | sixsteps Music | Alletrop Music For use solely with the SongSelect® Terms of Use. Give us this bread always, that he may live in us and we in him, and that, strengthened by this food, we may live as his body in the world, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen. Reading 1 Kings 19:4-8 First Kings chapter 18 describes the contest between Elijah and the prophets of Baal. The contest proves that the Lord is God, and afterward Elijah orders the killing of the Baal prophets. Angered by the deaths of her prophets, Queen Jezebel threatens to kill Elijah. This reading finds Elijah fleeing, fatigued, and in utter despair.

Message Response I Want Jesus to Walk with Me I want Jesus to walk with me I want Jesus to walk with me All along my pilgrim journey Lord I want Jesus to walk with me In my trials Lord walk with me In my trials Lord walk with me When my heart is almost breaking Lord I want Jesus to walk with me When I’m in trouble Lord walk with me When I’m in trouble Lord walk with me When my head is bowed in sorrow Lord I want Jesus to walk with me Text: African American spiritual Arr. © 1997 Jay Beech All rights reserved. Used by permission. OneLicense A-704315 Apostles’ Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Distribution Song Come As You Are Come out of sadness from wherever you’ve been. Come, broken hearted, let rescue begin. Come find your mercy. O sinner, come kneel; Earth has no sorrow that Heaven can’t heal; Earth has no sorrow that heaven can’t heal. (Chorus) So lay down your burdens, lay down your shame. All who are broken lift up your face. O wanderer, come home; You’re not too far. So lay down your hurt, lay down your heart, come as you are. There’s hope for the hopeless and all those who’ve strayed: Come sit at the table, come taste the grace. There’s rest for the weary, rest that endures. Earth has no sorrow that Heaven can’t cure. (Chorus) Come as you are. Fall in His arms. Come as you are. There’s joy for the morning. O sinner, be still. Earth has no sorrow that Heaven can’t heal. A U G U S T 8 - 1 4 , 2 0 2 1 A NOTE ABOUT FALL WORSHIP TIMES AND A NEW WEDNESDAY SCHEDULE Over the summer we took some time to evaluate our fall worship times. We believe worshiping together is the foundation on which the church is built. We love to see our pews filled with familiar faces and new friends. A survey regarding children's ministries was sent to Sunday and Wednesday School parents in July. Results show that parents feel attending church with their children is a high priority. After a lot of discussion, we determined the Sunday worship and education schedule used in 2019 worked well and allows for families to worship together. However, we did make some adjustments to the Wednesday evening worship and education schedule, shifting it a little later, to better accommodate the needs of our congregation. It also allows for worship and Wednesday school to occur concurrently for those who prefer that option. We encourage you to check out the fall worship and education times posted below and we are excited to see many of you back this fall.

FALL WORSHIP & EDUCATION TIMES Fall is right around the corner which means we will soon be resuming our fall worship schedule and activities! As a reminder, our summer worship schedule will run through September 11.
