Confession and Forgiveness Pastor: Blessed be the holy Trinity, one God, the God of manna, the God of miracles, the God of mercy. People: Amen Pastor: Drawn to Christ and seeking God’s abundance, let us confess our sin.

Silence is kept for reflection.

Pastor: God, our provider, People: help us. It is hard to believe there is enough to share. We question your ways when they differ from the ways of the world in which we live. We turn to our own understanding rather than trusting in you. We take offense at your teachings and your ways. Turn us again to you. Where else can we turn? Share with us the words of eternal life and feed us for life in the world. Amen. Pastor: Beloved people of God: in Jesus, the manna from heaven, you are fed and nourished. By Jesus, the worker of miracles, there is always more than enough. Through Jesus, the bread of life, you are shown God’s mercy: you are forgiven and loved into abundant life. People: Amen.

Prayer of the Day Ever-loving God, your Son gives himself as living bread for the life of the world. Fill us with such a knowledge of his presence that we may be strengthened and sustained by his risen life to serve you continually, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

Gospel John 6:51-58 (p. 868) In John’s gospel, the feeding of the five thousand leads to extended teaching in which Jesus identifies himself as the true “bread of life.” Finally, in these verses, he makes a connection that would not be understood until after his death, in light of the church’s celebration of holy communion.

Apostles’ Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. COMMUNITY OUTREACH: CHURCHES UNITED COMMUNITY PICNIC We are proud to announce that we set a goal of raising $1,000 to help support the Churches United Community Picnic and you met and exceeded that goal, contributing $1,540! Thank you for your generosity. FEEDING MINISTRIES: OLIVET FOOD PANTRY At only 13 years old, Olivet (soon to be) 7th grader, Sadie Brewer recognizes the importance of helping those in need. For the past four years, Sadie has used her birthday as an opportunity to give back. Rather than receiving birthday gifts from friends and family, Sadie has chosen a cause important to her and asked her friends to donate to that cause. This year Sadie chose the Olivet Food Pantry as the recipient of her birthday gifts. Thank you Sadie - we are proud of you for many reason COMMUNITY OUTREACH: BACK TO SCHOOL COLLECTION FOR GOLDEN DRIVE HOMELESS KIDS It's that time of year when we think about heading back to school. For the homeless students in our area, this can be an additional struggle trying to get the necessary items that the school season requires. Olivet has teamed up with Golden Drive Homeless Kids to help with some of the items specifically teens need as they start school. If you are able, please purchase an item or two from our Amazon charity list. Items ordered through the Amazon list can be shipped directly to Olivet. Together, we can show God's Love to those in need.

OUTDOOR MOVIE NIGHT Hey students in grades 6-12! You’re invited to an end of summer celebration before the start of school on Sunday, August 22 at 8 p.m. Parents are invited as well. Details below! What: Outdoor Movie Night to end our Summer Stretch of Youth Events! When: Sunday, August 22 at 8 p.m. Where: Heyer family’s backyard patio (4826 44 St S. Fargo) Popcorn, S’mores and Drinks provided. Please bring any other snacks you’d like and a lawn chair or bean bag chair and blanket. Movie shown will be The Sandlot.

GROWING TOGETHER COMMUNITY GARDEN PRODUCE SALE If you haven't had a chance to check out the Growing Together Community Gardens yet this summer, this is the perfect time. The produce is abundant and fresh off the vine! Stop by and see your Olivet friends who volunteer alongside over 100 families that plant, maintain, and harvest at the different sites. Each volunteer works for their share of the garden and takes home plenty of food for their family. And there's always extra for purchase and for the food pantry!
