The tracks on this release are an expanded version of what turned up on the mythic "Moebius Tapes" many years ago. Most of the tracks are works in progress, but that doesn't detract from hearing Damon Edge and Helios Creed weaving their crazed magic in the raw. Marvellous. Zadora With their first 3 albums Chrome were the very cutting-edge of a new type of psychedelic experimental rock music. The Visitation, Alien Soundtracks, and Half Machine Lip Moves each layered innovation upon innovation. But then they sadly burnt out very quickly. I think it's a shame they didn't stop after the awesome Read Only Memory. But they kept on somehow for another 20 years with all vastly inferior material. With the title "Half Machine From The Sun" I was hoping this may have some of the lost other recordings from the "lost Half Machine Lip Moves sessions" that I read about decades ago, but sadly not, this appears to be mostly material circa Red Exposure to 3rd From The Sun material, a not bad era of Chrome but not classic stuff. There are some odd brilliant bits - sure - but if you've never experienced Chrome before start with Alien Soundtracks instead - and blow your mind! Ranterl Please keep in mind this is not an album but a comp of lost tracks so quality vary: sometimes groove appears from the alien sounds but not on each track. It should be an appendix to the chrome box.. Bought it from the pledge project, signed by Helios, signature is a little blurry, disappointing... Nevertheless proud to contribute to it as Helios merits it, for all the crazy lps he did, with edge or alone... even if, likely, "who cares?" The "blank generation" came out of a moral vacuum. While punks roamed the suburban landscape, blue-collar workers were feeling the pinch of an economic revolution: human society had left the industrial age and entered the post-industrial age, the age in which services (such as software) prevail over manufacturing. Computers now rule the world, from Wall Street to Boeing. The assembly line took away a bit of the personality of the worker, but that was nothing: the new service- based economy takes away the worker completely, physically. In the post-industrial society the individual is even less of a "person". The individual is merely a cog in a huge organism of interconnected parts that works at the beat of a gigantic network of computers. This highly sophisticated economy treats the individual as a number, as a statistic. The goal is no longer to create a robot that behaves like a human being, but to create a human being that behaves like a robot: robots are efficient and lead to manageable and profitable businesses, whereas humans are inefficient and difficult to manage.
