  • Batman Miniature Game Teams
TEAMS IN Gotham MAY 2020 v1.2 Teams represent an exciting new addition to the Batman Miniature Game, and are a way of creating themed crews that represent the more famous (and infamous) groups of heroes and villains in the DC universe. Teams are custom crews that are created using their own rules instead of those found in the Configuring Your Crew section of the Batman Miniature Game rulebook. In addition, Teams have some unique special rules, like exclusive Strategies, Equipment or characters to hire. CONFIGURING A TEAM First, you must choose which team you wish to create. On the following pages, you will find rules for several new teams: the Suicide Squad, Bat-Family, The Society, and Team Arrow. Models from a team often don’t have a particular affiliation, or don’t seem to have affiliations that work with other members, but don’t worry! The following guidelines, combined with the list of playable characters in appropriate Recruitment Tables, will make it clear which models you may include in your custom crew. Once you have chosen your team, use the following rules to configure it: • You must select a model to be the Team’s Boss. This model doesn’t need to have the Leader or Sidekick Rank – s/he can also be a Free Agent. See your team’s Recruitment Table for the full list of characters who can be recruited as your team’s Boss. • Who is the Boss in a Team? 1. If there is a model with Boss? Always present, they MUST be the Boss, regardless of a rank.

Collective of Heroes: Arrow’s Move Toward a Posthuman Superhero Fantasy by Alyssa Grace Kilbourn A Thesis Submitted to the Graduate Faculty of St. Cloud State University in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in Rhetoric and Writing December, 2016 Thesis Committee: James Heiman, Chairperson Matthew Barton Jennifer Tuder 2 Abstract Since 9/11, superheroes have become a popular medium for storytelling, so much so that popular culture is inundated with the narratives. More recently, the superhero narrative has moved from cinema to television, which allows for the narratives to address more pressing cultural concerns in a more immediate fashion. Furthermore, millions of viewers perpetuate the televised narratives because they resonate with the values and stories in the shows. Through Fantasy Theme Analysis, this project examines the audience values within the Arrow’s superhero fantasy and the influence of posthumanism on the show’s superhero fantasy.

  • EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Decapitation
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Decapitation. Dismemberment. Serial killers. Graphic gore. Hey, Kids! COMICS!! Since the release of The Dark Knight film series and the 22 movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, comic-book characters have become wildly popular in other forms of entertainment, particularly television. But broadcast TV’s representations of comic-book characters are no longer the bright, colorful, and optimistic figures of the past. Children are innately attracted to comic-book characters; but in today’s comic book-based programs, children are being exposed to graphic violence, profanity, dark and intense themes, and other inappropriate content. In this research report, the PTC examined comic book-themed prime-time programming on the maJor broadcast networks during November, February, and May “sweeps” periods from November 2012 through May 2019. Programs examined were Fox’s Gotham; CW’s Arrow, Black Lightning, The Flash, Supergirl, DC’s Legends oF Tomorrow, and Riverdale; and ABC’s Marvel’s Agents oF S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel’s Agent Carter, and Marvel’s Inhumans. Research data suggest that broadcast television programs based on these comic-book characters, created and intended for children, are increasingly inappropriate and/or unsafe for young viewers. In its research, the PTC found the following during the study period: • In comic book-themed programming with particular appeal to children, young viewers were exposed to over 6,000 incidents of violence, over 500 deaths, and almost 2,000 profanities. • The most violent program was CW’s Arrow. Young viewers witnessed 1,241 acts of violence, including 310 deaths, 280 instances of gun violence, and 26 scenes of people being tortured.
