For more detailed factual information, and in-depth competition statistics, please refer to the matchweek press kit, which can be downloaded at: http://www.uefa.com/uefa/mediaservices/presskits/index.html Match background Valencia CF will look to make amends for two humiliating UEFA Champions League defeats as they take on Rosenborg BK in Trondheim in their second UEFA Cup Group G fixture. • Rosenborg and Valencia met twice in the UEFA Champions League group stage last season, and while both sides had different coaches in the two matches, the outcome was the same both times, with Rosenborg winning 2-0 in Trondheim and by the same scoreline at the Mestalla Stadium. • Knut Tørum's Rosenborg beat a Valencia team coached by Quique Sánchez Flores – now in charge of SL Benfica – in the first fixture, Yssouf Koné and Vidar Riseth getting the goals. • By the time they met in Spain, just a fortnight later, Trond Henriksen was in charge at Rosenborg and Ronald Koeman had replaced Sánchez Flores, but this time Steffen Iversen scored both goals in another 2-0 win for the Norwegian side. • The teams for their meeting on 24 October 2007 in Trondheim were: Rosenborg: Lars Hirschfeld, Roar Strand (Fredrik Stoor, 86), Yssouf Koné (Øyvind Storflor, 80), Vidar Riseth, Steffen Iversen, Per Ciljan Skjelbred, Alexander Tettey, Abdou Razack Traoré, Bjørn Tore Kvarme, Marek Sapara, Mikael Dorsin. Of their eight home games against Liga opponents they have won four, drawn one and lost three. • For the two sides' third meeting in just over a year they will once more line up with different coaches. Swede Erik Hamrén is now in charge at Rosenborg while Valencia are led by Unai Emery. • Hamrén has some experience of Spanish opposition. Rosenborg held Club Brugge KV to a goalless draw on Matchday 1, while Valencia drew 1-1 at home against FC København two weeks later. • This will be Rosenborg's eleventh European game of the season, having started their campaign in the second round of the UEFA Intertoto Cup. It was the continuation of some fine form in this competition by the former European champions, who breezed through the group stage after an unbeaten campaign that brought eight points, including comprehensive victories against RC Lens and Halmstads BK - both at home. •Betis were also indebted to a two-goal first-leg lead as they edged past AZ Alkmaar to secure a place in the last 32. Brazilian pair Diego Tardelli and Robert were both on target as late goals earned the side a significant advantage in Seville, which the Dutch team clawed back at the Alkmaarderhout to take the tie to extra time.
