They were two goals behind at Stamford Bridge on matchday one before coming back to 2-2, and fought back to draw 1-1 at home to Shakhtar in their first European game at their new stadium. • Juve have now drawn their last nine games in UEFA competition, having recorded six draws in the 2010/11 UEFA Europa League group stage. Match background • Nordsjælland had never faced Italian opponents before matchday three while Juventus had only taken on a team from Denmark in one previous tie. • On 15 September 1983 they beat Hvidovre IF 4-1 in Copenhagen in the European Champion Clubs' Cup first round. The second leg in Italy finished 3-3, the Danish side scoring twice in the final seven minutes to snatch a draw with all their goals coming in the last 11 minutes. • Juventus, winners of the Scudetto in 2011/12 and unbeaten in the 38-game season, were last in the UEFA Champions League in 2009/10 when they began with a 1-1 home draw against FC Girondins de Bordeaux. They went on to beat Maccabi Haifa FC 1-0 at home but bowed out after losing 4-1 to FC Bayern München in Turin. • Nordsjælland won their maiden Danish Superliga title last season and have had four campaigns in the UEFA Cup and UEFA Europa League, only managing to get through to the first round proper twice. On each occasion they lost to Greek opponents, going down to Panionios GSS in 2003/04 and Olympiacos FC in 2008/09. • Last year the Farum club were knocked out of the UEFA Europa League in the play-offs, beaten 2-1 by Sporting Clube de Portugal in the second leg after the game in Denmark had ended goalless. Team ties • Michael Laudrup, father of Nordsjælland forward Andreas, was on Juventus' books between 1983 and 1989, scoring 16 goals in 102 games. • Nicklas Bendtner has scored 21 goals in 54 appearances for Denmark but has never played in the Danish league. • Nicolai Stokholm and Bendtner were part of the Denmark team beaten 3-1 in Italy in FIFA World Cup qualifying on 16 October, Kasper Lorentzen coming on as a second-half substitute while Jesper Hansen and Jores Okore were on the bench. Andrea Pirlo captained Italy, whose side also included Giorgio Chiellini, Andrea Barzagli and Claudio Marchisio plus substitute Emanuele Giaccherini. • Michael Parkhurst was an unused substitute as the United States defeated Italy 1-0 in a friendly on 29 February in Genoa. Gianluigi Buffon, Barzagli, Chiellini, Pirlo, Marchisio, Giovinco and Alessandro Matri all played for Italy. • Andreas Laudrup was on the bench for a 2-2 Under-21 friendly draw between Denmark and Italy on 28 July 2010. Luca Marrone was in the Azzurrini's starting lineup. • Mark Gundelach was in the Denmark U20 team that suffered a 3-1 loss to Italy in Hvidovre on 18 April. Last updated 06/11/12 00:47:05CET 3 Match background Juventus - FC Nordsjælland Wednesday 7 November 2012 - 20.45CET (20.45 local time) MATCH PRESS KIT Juventus Stadium, Turin Match facts Juventus UEFA Champions League statistics • Juventus have recorded an unprecedented nine successive draws in European competition, eclipsing the previous high of seven. • On matchday one Juventus became only the second team to avoid defeat against Chelsea FC in the UEFA Champions League after going two goals down, following AS Monaco FC in the 2004 semi-final second leg. • Giorgio Chiellini's next yellow card will incur a suspension. Miscellaneous • The Bianconeri's 49-game unbeaten run in Serie A, since a 1-0 defeat at Parma FC on 15 May 2011, ended on Saturday with a 3-1 loss at home to FC Internazionale Milano despite Arturo Vidal breaking the deadlock inside 30 seconds. It meant Juve fell short of the Serie A record of 58 games without defeat, set by AC Milan between 1991 and 1993. • Mirko Vučinić, who was playing his 300th Serie A game, was replaced at half-time after taking a knock to his left calf. Simone Pepe also has a calf injury, while Claudio Marchisio returned against Inter after missing two games with an ankle problem. • Gianluigi Buffon and Andrea Pirlo are in the running for the FIFA Ballon d'Or award, the winner of which will be announced on 7 January in Zurich. • Paul Pogba scored his first goal in senior football on 20 October as Juventus beat SSC Napoli 2-0; two games later he struck his second, a 90th-minute winner in last Wednesday's 2-1 victory over Bologna FC. • On 16 October, Nicklas Bendtner was in the Denmark side beaten 3-1 by Italy in FIFA World Cup qualifying. Andrea Barzagli, Chiellini, Pirlo, Claudio Marchisio and Emanuele Giaccherini were in action for the hosts. • Juve are 27 games unbeaten away from home in all competitions, since the 1-0 defeat at Parma on 15 May 2011. Nordsjælland UEFA Champions League statistics • Nordsjælland have a goal difference of -6, the joint worst in the competition with GNK Dinamo Zagreb. Their tally of seven goals against is the joint highest total along with FC Dynamo Kyiv, FC Spartak Moskva and Manchester City FC. • The Danish champions have had seven shots off target, fewer than any other club. • Nordsjælland are one of three sides making their debut in the competition proper this season, along with Montpellier Hérault SC and Málaga CF. • Mikkel Beckmann's 50th-minute opener against Juventus on matchday three was Nordsjælland's first goal in the competition and earned their first point. • None of the Nordsjælland squad had played in the UEFA Champions League before this term. • Patrick Mtiliga and Ivan Runje will incur a suspension with their next bookings. Miscellaneous • Uncapped Runje has been included in an experimental 22-man Croatia squad for a three-day training camp that concludes with a friendly against a Croatian First League XI in Rijeka on 14 November. • Nordsjælland were knocked out of the Danish Cup in the fourth round on 31 October, losing 3-2 in extra time at home to FC Midtjylland, the team they defeated in the final in 2010 and 2011. • Nordsjælland have been defeated once in their last 17 home games in regulation time – the 4-0 defeat by Chelsea FC on matchday two. They have lost three of their last five on their travels, however. • Kasper Hjulmand's team succumbed 3-0 at Odense BK on 5 October, their worst league defeat since going down 4-0 at Randers FC 6 March 2011. • Captain Nicolai Stokholm missed Saturday's 2-1 league win at SønderjyskE with a calf injury.
