Uefa Champions League UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - 2016/17 SEASON MATCH PRESS KITS Telia Parken - Copenhagen Wednesday 2 November 2016 20.45CET (20.45 local time) FC København Group G - Matchday 4 Leicester City FC Last updated 01/11/2016 03:56CET UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE OFFICIAL SPONSORS Match background 2 Legend 4 1 FC København - Leicester City FC Wednesday 2 November 2016 - 20.45CET (20.45 local time) Match press kit Telia Parken, Copenhagen Match background FC København will be out for revenge when they host Group G leaders Leicester City FC on matchday four. • Leicester will have other ideas as they look to complete back-to-back wins over their hosts – and guarantee their place in the knockout stage. København • København's 23-match unbeaten run in all competitions ended as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Leicester on 18 October. • FCK overcame Club Brugge KV 4-0 at home on matchday two – their fourth straight success, and clean sheet, in Copenhagen in a UEFA Champions League campaign which began in the second qualifying round in July. • The Danish champions are tied with FC Porto in second place in Group G with four points. They are aiming to repeat their 2010/11 UEFA Champions League performance when they reached the round of 16 for the only time. • FCK's most recent home encounter with Premier League opposition brought a 2-0 loss to Chelsea FC in the 2010/11 UEFA Champions League round of 16. • In Ståle Solbakken's first spell as coach they earned their only victory over Premier League opposition in nine attempts –1-0 at home against Manchester United FC in the 2006/07 group stage. Leicester • On their first visit to Denmark for a competitive fixture, the Premier League title holders are looking to secure their place in the last 16. • Claudio Ranieri's newcomers are the first English club to win their first three games in the UEFA Champions League group stage. • Leicester are one of only three teams in the competition with maximum points after three matches – and one of two teams, along with Club Atlético de Madrid, yet to concede a goal. Coach and player links: • Solbakken was Wolverhampton Wanderers FC manager for six months (July 2012–January 2013). In September 2012 he oversaw a 2-1 home win over a Leicester side including Kasper Schmeichel, Wes Morgan, Danny Drinkwater, Andy King and Jamie Vardy. • As a player Solbakken had a short spell at Wimbledon FC in 1997/98 (six appearances, one goal). • Daniel Amartey was a København player from June 2014 until January 2016. He made 43 Super League appearances for FCK and another 12 in European competition. Amartey and Mark Robins are the only two men to have played for both clubs. • Jores Okore spent three seasons at Aston Villa FC from 2013 to 2016, making 38 Premier League appearances. • For Schmeichel, this is the first club match at a venue where he has won nine of his 24 caps for Denmark. He has conceded seven goals in those nine games, keeping four clean sheets. • Andreas Cornelius had a seven-month stay at Cardiff City FC in 2013/14. He made eight substitute appearances in the Premier League and started three games in the domestic cup competitions before rejoining FCK. • Also played in England: Stephan Andersen (Charlton Athletic FC, 2004–07) William Kvist (Fulham FC, loan 2014; Wigan Athletic FC 2014–15) Ján Greguš (Bolton Wanderers FC, loan 2013 – no appearances) • Shinji Okazaki scored Japan's third goal in a 3-1 victory over Denmark in the group stage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup – a result which eliminated the Danes. • Okazaki played for VfB Stuttgart against FCK in the 2012/13 UEFA Europa League group stage (0-0 h, 2-0 a). • Greguš played for Slovakia in their 1-0 defeat by England in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Trnava in September. Jamie Vardy and Danny Drinkwater watched from the England substitutes' bench. • Played together in club football: Shinji Okazaki & William Kvist (VfB Stuttgart 2011–13) Marc Albrighton & Jores Okore (Aston Villa 2013–14) • Played together in international football: Kasper Schmeichel & Peter Ankersen, Stephan Andersen, Nicolai Boilesen, Andreas Cornelius, Thomas Delaney, 2 FC København - Leicester City FC Wednesday 2 November 2016 - 20.45CET (20.45 local time) Match press kit Telia Parken, Copenhagen Rasmus Falk, Mathias Zanka Jørgensen, Kasper Kusk, William Kvist, Jores Okore (Denmark). Match facts København • Mathias Jørgensen will incur a suspension with his next booking. • Solbakken's side have lost just one of their last 27 matches in all competitions and won 3-1 at FC Midtjylland on Saturday. • Okore, a summer signing from Aston Villa, made his FCK debut as the Lions eased to a 6-1 win against third-tier Jammerbugt FC in the Danish Cup round of 32 on 26 October. • Substitutes Mads Roerslev and two-goal Nicklas Røjkjær, members of the club's UEFA Youth League squad, scored against Jammerbugt on their København debuts. • Danny Amankwaa will miss the rest of 2016 after undergoing knee surgery on 25 October. Leicester • Islam Slimani is a yellow card away from a ban. • Ahmed Musa and Christian Fuchs scored their first Leicester goals in the 3-1 triumph over Crystal Palace FC on 22 October, a result that extended the Foxes' unbeaten home league run to 20 matches. • Musa struck again as the English champions earned a creditable 1-1 draw at Tottenham Hotspur FC on Saturday. • Fuchs signed a new contract on 21 October, keeping him at the club until June 2019. • Ranieri's men have lost four of their ten Premier League fixtures this season, one more defeat than they suffered in their title-winning campaign last term. • Riyad Mahrez and Vardy are among the 30 players shortlisted for the 2016 Ballon d'Or by France Football magazine. 3 FC København - Leicester City FC Wednesday 2 November 2016 - 20.45CET (20.45 local time) Match press kit Telia Parken, Copenhagen Legend ALL-TIME STATISTICS The all-time record of the competing clubs in UEFA club competition.
