The past two years have therefore been a rather intense period, as UEFA has had to implement the new structures while at the same time addressing current football issues and launching new projects. Both these tasks were far-reaching and voluminous. Among other challenges, UEFA had to help find a solution to the issue of international transfers, cope with the complex demands of organising competitions, define the format for the club competitions and defend the centralised marketing of the rights to the UEFA Champions League. In terms of projects, we launched the club licensing system, created our subsidiary UEFA New Media, set up a new structure for marketing opera- tions and moved forward with our study aimed at allowing the use of artificial-turf surfaces in UEFA competitions. With his side trailing to a goal from Hakan Şükür, Larsson hit an 87th-minute equaliser, and Andreas Andersson grabbed a winner in added time. • Hakan Şükür has played in five games against Sweden, scoring twice. Four of those five games saw him playing opposite Larsson - who was an unused substitute in the other match. • In the four previous games in which the two legendary strikers have met, honours are even, with Sweden and Turkey winning a game each and the other two matches ending in draws. • Both strikers are now 36. Hakan Şükür has scored 51 goals in 112 appearances for Turkey - making him the leading active international scorer in European football - while Larsson scored 36 goals in 93 games for Sweden. • Galatasaray lost their opening Group H match 2-1 at FC Girondins de Bordeaux while Helsingborg drew 1-1 at home against Panionios GSS - Larsson levelling in the 83rd minute. -

However, they at least know that they will have some chance of qualifying on Matchday 5 – however slender – regardless of the result of the game against their Norwegian visitors. • Rosenborg have no such luxury, having matched their worst ever home defeat in European competition in losing 4-0 to Valencia CF last Thursday. This is their final Group G game, and anything other than a win would spell the end of their continental campaign for the season. • This will be København and Rosenborg's first meeting in European club competition. -

Which of football’s leaders could then have foreseen the sheer scale and speed of football’s economic revolution? Associated industries such as media, sportswear, advertising, and so forth have seen football as an attractive business and thus many off-the-field developments have speeded up its expansion. On the other hand, some sensible and regulative issues are threatening the traditional structure of European football. The change in the international transfer system, the continuous threat of a Super League, the discussion about regional leagues and the supremacy of UEFA as the single governing body are important matters that have to be handled carefully. The situation has become almost dramatic at the European level. Most of the participants are now swept along, whereas very few can claim to be in control. To have a chance within an era of stock market flotation, corporate takeovers and digital television, it is needed a defined strategy, a clear focus, top class people, financial resources and some luck! In this thesis we analyse how football is changing nowadays and which forces are pushing the industry to another direction at the clubs’ level. The question here is to see to what extent the “golden era” for football – with colossal sums of money entering the game through TV deals, sponsorship contracts, etc. -

First, in March, at the next ordinary UEFA Congress, the terms of six members of the UEFA Executive Committee come to an end, three of whom are not standing for re-election. In addition, the seat that has been vacant since the death of Mathieu Sprengers has to be filled, as do two additional seats, giving the Executive Committee an unprecedented injection of new blood. Then in May, the current club competition cycle concludes. In the UEFA Champions League, it will be the last final to be played on a Wednesday, thereby ending a tradition that dates back to the creation of the competition. In the UEFA Cup, it will be the last final ever under that name before the competition becomes the UEFA Europa League and takes on a brand-new format. This year also heralds the end of an era for the UEFA Women’s Cup, which is set to change format and be linked to the UEFA Champions League, with the finals of the two competitions to take place in future in the same city during the same week. -

На этой же стадии розыгрыша Кубка УЕФА прошлого сезона леверкузенцы уступили "Осасуне" со счетом 0:3. "Нужно было избежать повторения сценария встречи с "Осасуной", но нам не удалось этого сделать, - поведал полузащитник Зимон Рольфес. - По какой-то причине мы были далеки от игры, которую показываем на протяжении сезона". • Предстоящий поединок на стадионе "Петровский" станет для "Зенита" 50-м в Кубке УЕФА. • До первого четвертьфинального матча соперники никогда прежде не встречались в турнирах под эгидой УЕФА, но "Байер" провел три игры против другой российской команды.
