Farnham Group B Challenge Farnham Group B Winter Rally Challenge: Celebrating the most spectacular era of the World Rally Championship, a night of big wings, stripey liveries and excess in all areas. Race Date: Wednesday 17 January, 20:00-23:00 Race Format: Each driver must use two cars – one ‘stock’ Group B rally car made by a mainstream manufacturer and one ‘pro/mod’ car which can either be their own or borrowed from the club if they do not have one. The event will be a rally with a twist. There will be two rally stages – Lawrence’s ‘Astisburg Mountain’ and a temporary stage made up specially for the event. All competitors will set a time over both stages with both their ‘Stock’ and their ‘Pro’ cars. A third stage will be made on the club’s track, which will be modified for the occasion. First of all, there will be a timed stage run on Blue Lane. Then there will be two classes for racing on all four lanes. The cars will be marshalled and the total time taken to complete all four ten-lap races will be added to each driver’s total time in each class. To start the evening, the drivers will divide into three groups and compete on the three special stages. When all three groups have completed all three stages, the two racing classes will be run as per a normal club night but with marshalling and ‘magic cranes’ instead of crash ‘n’ burn. Race results from the two ‘racing’ classes will only be used to decide the result of a tie- breaker in times at the end of the rally. Class 1: Stock Open to any unmodified Group B rally car (1983-86), from a mainstream slot car manufacturer. Tyre choice open and a replacement guide may be fitted provided that the chassis is not modified for fitment. Co-driver figures must be present in the cars. Traction magnets must be removed. Weight may be added inside the chassis. Eligible models are: Fly Audi Quattro A2, Lancia 037 Rallye, Renault 5 Turbo Ninco Lancia 037 Rallye, Porsche 911 SCRS Octane Citroën Visa Mille Pistes Revell Audi Quattro S1, Opel Ascona 400 Scalextric Audi Sport Quattro, Audi Quattro S1, Ferrari 308, Ford RS200 (Exin or modern versions), Lancia 037 (Exin version), Lancia Delta S4, MG Metro 6R4 (modern or 1980s issue), Peugeot 205 T16 SCX BMW M1, Ferrari 288 GTO, Lancia Delta S4, Porsche 911 SCRS (Exin version), Porsche 959, Renault 5 Turbo, Renault 5 Maxiturbo, Talbot Sunbeam Lotus Sloter Opel Manta 400 TeamSlot Audi Quattro A1, Audi Quattro A2, Renault 5 Turbo, Renault 5 Maxiturbo Pro/Mod Open to any ‘competition spec’ Group B rally car from a specialised rally slot car manufacturer. • High Fidelity

  • Classes Racing Class Allocation
Classes Racing Class Allocation Within all classes every effort has been made to ensure that cars of similar performance are grouped together. As the manufacturers have gone to a lot of trouble making accurate miniatures the Club endeavours to allocate models to the Class/Series for which they were designed. An alternative body may be substituted providing it fits the class requirements and must be to scale i.e., no ‘handling’ or womp out of scale models permitted. However, all the interior fittings from the donor model must go into the replacement, no lightweight substitutes allowed. Within fair and reasonable tolerances, members are encouraged to attempt to model a 1:1 scale race-car that fits that particular class including period race livery. New release cars will not be eligible to race as they become available until the model's performance has been ascertained. Class allocation will be on the basis of performance. New release cars may not race at the same meeting at which they are classified. Racing Classes There are 18 racing classes divided into three groups of six and although we do not officially have workshopping in the calendar there is always time and opportunity to discuss R & D, tuning and just messing around on race nights.
