Orange Sky Laundry broke through the stereotype of charities and has initiated an Australian and possibly worldwide first in donations. Orange Sky Laundry donate the gift of washing and drying, and also the ability to socialise, chat and give the homeless the time of day they deserve as well as clean clothes. Question Evaluation

1. What social media platforms were used and what other platforms could be used to greater expand the organization

Orange Sky Laundry has taken control of useful social media platforms to help advertise their non for profit organization. They have used Facebook which is a largely popular platform for people of all ages. This can be utilised to attract the attention of bored people looking for something new to look into on facebook. It also has the ability to have their posts shared which in turn accelerates interest. The next platform they use is Twitter, this is a great platform and a lot of posts can trend in the local area and thus gain more interest with locals much to the same as facebook. Orange sky have also adopted Youtube as their third social platform, this is different to the last two as this one is more of a speaking to the audience rather than conversing and discussing with the audience, you would get more interaction via facebook or twitter compared to youtube. The final social media platform Orange sky laundry has attached onto is Instagram. Instagram is a fantastic website to keep your audience up to date on basic day to day achievements and activities. Instagram starts off with an image to help gain the viewer’s interest and then a short sharp helpful caption which updates the audience. This works well in capturing the audience and portraying a message of what the day holds. Although they have all these social platforms, they lack the ability to travel between all of them, if you didn’t know they had the other 3 accounts you would never think otherwise.

2. What is needed to create an effective strategy (Online posts, News articles, emails etc)

An effective online strategy is one which gets information to clients in numerous amounts of ways, this being on a social media platform like facebook, through other interactive media outlets which are imposed on a person’s lifestyle, this being newspapers, news programs and advertisements, or through selective lists such as emails and texts. These are all great strategies which if the user agrees can help with the word of mouth. With a great organizational habit, these strategies can be combined to create a free flowing strategy that is not only simple but super effective. Orange sky have used a fair few of these outlets as they have 4 social media accounts, they have been on the a few times and have been spoken about a lot in the Sydney morning herald and they have a subscriber list which sends out frequent emails.

3. How did external help work for the organization, how did news and free advertisement help.

News used to be a huge part of everyone’s lifestyle, but with the power of Facebook less and less teenagers and young adults tend to flick the television over to the news, this has caused the power of news to weaken but in saying that a lot of mature adults still use the news for their everyday catch-up on what’s been happening around the world. Orange sky had a fair bit of news coverage which gained them a huge following from adults and people who were old enough to show a bit of interest in the good side of innovation and they helped by sending cash to assist in the project. In a way having their first big break was all due to the audience who watches the news, the next was prompted by social media and gaining volunteers from that section. This was all free simple to get interest and the idea out in the world.

4. How did external help work for the organization, how did news and free advertisement help.

Initially Orange sky relied on organic word of mouth to gain traction and with that the news heard about them and this started the butterfly effect that has now created a non for profit organization which has spread all over and is doing good for the less fortunate individuals in society.

5. Did they rely on their organic audience to grow or did they move to a more organizational strategy

Orange sky’s message is easy to understand, it simply revolves around doing good for someone and giving them someone to talk to, which can help the less fortunate feel included and apart of society again. As far as I can see, Orange sky Laundry’s strategy is working at its full potential and still expanding and doing a great thing for the less fortunate, if it weren’t for orange sky laundry a lot of people would be doing it hard and would have nowhere to go to. 6. Is their strategy working

Orange sky Laundry has essentially followed every rule that has been laid out, they have integrated with a multitude of social platforms, they’ve used media outlets and organic followers to allow for better overall exposure and finally they keep up to date and are still growing and spreading. The only way they can go further is by creating links through each of their websites which are easier to follow and more eyecatching. This enables them to work towards a more organized and faster model which would allow for one post to be shared across all four of their platforms and sent out in an email.

Conclusion:

Overall orange sky laundry has successfully created an effective business model which has ticked all the boxes. It is fast, efficient and overall successful as they have graced the television without prompting orange sky laundry to have to pay. The business model has next to no flaws and has had minor improvements on what they have. Overall they have done a great job with everything they had at their table.
