Page 6 Knightly News December 2013 Spanish News Piñatas After reading about the history of piñatas in Mexico and Spain, Mrs. McIntosh’s Spanish III students were given the opportunity to experience piñatas first hand by creating their own. The guidelines for the project were simple: the piñatas had to be colorful and creative, had to be able to hang for a specified period of time, needed to have an opening for the candy, and had to be covered with crepe paper. A balloon had to be used to make the main shape of the piñata, but other materials could be used for details and appendages. Each group had to also create a poster to illustrate their work from the beginning to the end of the project with pictures and captions. The students worked in small groups outside of the classroom for over a month and as you can see, the results were very creative!
