1 The eternal flame 6/2/2016 9:01 AM

2 The Flame of Liberty… ..just exemplifies "on-going" action 6/2/2016 8:36 AM

3 "The Flame of Liberty." I was deeply moved by the "Soldiers Cross." I have a son on active duty. 6/1/2016 4:32 PM

4 The Flame of Liberty. It better conveyes the concept of military service. 6/1/2016 11:23 AM

5 The eagle is more appealing. While I like the flame concept, I don't like that the soldier's cross would essentially be 5/31/2016 4:13 PM "inside" the flame. That seems like you are burning the soldier's cross.

6 Eagle. No guns or instruments of war in sculpture. 5/31/2016 11:46 AM

7 Neither 5/31/2016 10:08 AM

8 Neither. They are way too massive and the designs not professionally done. One was done by a coin designer( 5/31/2016 6:29 AM possibly the one whose designs were rejected previously) and the other, only the flag/eagle done by a professional the rest done by unknown.

9 I would prefer a statue of an armed service member standing guard over our freedom and way of life. Ever vigilant. 5/30/2016 7:53 PM

10 Eagle 5/30/2016 5:22 PM

11 The Flame of Liberty. It's soft, artistic, eye catching and has an "internal heart" the soldiers cross. As a veteran I love 5/30/2016 5:13 PM this concept.

12 The flame. The soldiers cross inside the flame is a compelling reminder of the ultimate sacrifice so many have made 5/30/2016 4:10 PM so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have today.

13 The Flame of Liberty Unique in design, and with "hidden" soldier cross makes more interesting than just an eagle that 5/30/2016 2:53 PM you see everywhere else. I also like the tie-in with the which stands for the liberty that the veterans fought for.

14 I like the eagle, it represents the spirits of those who have given their all for our country. The eagle soars above 5/30/2016 2:42 PM continuing its mission to guard these United States.

15 I enjoyed both of the final two choices - I would select the flame as my first choice 5/29/2016 9:57 AM

16 The Flame of Liberty is a bit more untraditional and interesting. 5/29/2016 8:32 AM

17 Concept 2: "The Flame of Liberty" 5/28/2016 5:56 PM

18 I do not like either one! The only thing I do like is the soldiers cross inside of the flame of option #2. 5/27/2016 11:39 AM

19 The eagle, only because it rises above the structure that surrounds it and seems to be flying over it. 5/20/2016 5:14 PM

20 Eagle is a symbol of freedom, it lifts the eyes up instead of down to a helmet and gun. 5/20/2016 4:51 PM

21 The Flame of Liberty because it is less literal and the idea of glass sounds beautiful. 5/19/2016 9:48 PM

22 The Eagle would be more durable and require less maintenance. 5/17/2016 4:05 PM

23 The Flame of Liberty. Simple, speaks to the meaning of our freedom. 5/13/2016 2:19 PM

24 The Eagle and Flag represent the sacrifice of those many Veterans who gave so much for our Freedom 5/11/2016 5:55 PM

25 The Flame of Liberty - very symbolic dedication long overdue to our Veterans. 5/11/2016 12:26 PM

26 The Eagle shows strength, courage and great majesty as it surrounds and protects those in its charge....the Home of 5/11/2016 7:20 AM the Free.

27 I find both of the proposals to be overly elaborate and kitschy. The space itself is very prominent and a focal point of an 5/9/2016 9:00 PM open urban landscape. A simpler memorial would be both more respectful and more impactful.

28 The Flame of Liberty serves to honor the sacrifice without being militaristic. It has an appeal beyond the message as 5/8/2016 7:11 PM well, as an attractive spot to sit, both day and night.

1 / 12 Public Comment Form for the Town of Los Gatos Veterans Memorial Project

29 The Flame of Liberty ... I believe the soldiers cross is more traditional and the lighting concept at night will be very 5/8/2016 7:06 AM pleasing.

30 eagle -- i think it will be a more enduring symbol and will look better with age than the flame one. 5/7/2016 7:02 PM

31 "The Flame of Liberty." As much as I love Eagles and what they stand for, they have been used very often to express 5/7/2016 4:59 PM so many things in our country other than the contributions of our veterans. The Flame of Liberty captures the spirit of what has motivated our military for the entire history of our country. In addition, I like the notion of the antique glass with the inner "Soldier's Cross" which would be subtle and contained within the flame. These would be two great symbols encapsulating our veterans' contribution to this nation: liberty, service and sacrifice.

32 I like the surroundings for the Eagle but prefer the Flame centerpiece. The entire Flame concept of too massive but 5/7/2016 10:45 AM would fit nicely into the smaller Eagle setting.

33 The Eagle. It's grace and powerful statement is the balance we need to represent our community properly. That it's 5/7/2016 10:14 AM flying upward and has a world view for reflecting on war and future visions is impressive. It's powerful and elegant at the same time. It's also timeless and this memorial will be here a VERY LONG time.

34 The Flame of Liberty 5/6/2016 1:53 PM

35 The "Flame of Liberty" is both inspiring and reflective, not to mention beautiful and fitting for the space. 5/6/2016 10:56 AM

36 I prefer the flame. More symbolic of sacrifice. More universal. More visually appealing than a static representation of a 5/6/2016 10:53 AM bronze flag. Also, the eagle looks a little agitated and cruel.

37 The Bald Eagle/Flag - Well-known symbols of the USA. I also like the artist sculpture better. The flame is nice, but big 5/5/2016 5:13 PM and complex and doesn't really tie to the USA as well.

38 Neither. Too large 5/5/2016 12:28 PM

39 The Flame of Liberty. It is a unique design and feels more "special" 5/5/2016 12:04 PM

40 "The Eagle". The latter concept for "Flame of liberty" contains a thinly veiled Latin cross, which is not representative of 5/4/2016 8:11 PM all the veterans who have served our country. The existence of any cross is a religious symbol not fitting for a public monument.

41 Neither - both are way out of scale with the current town center architecture. If the flame was scaled back to half it's 5/2/2016 4:15 PM size it would be better,

42 Eternal Flame. I like the color and the soldiers cross 4/30/2016 12:41 PM

43 The flame of Liberty seems for original and meaningful to me 4/27/2016 1:48 PM

44 The eternal flame, because to me it more fully acknowledges those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice for our 4/26/2016 11:49 PM country.

45 Flame of Liberty. It's the more conceptual and more open to interpretation by visitors. The Eagle is just too literal and 4/26/2016 4:56 PM common. The design is not strong and not compelling.

46 The Flame of Liberty .....it is unusual and visually appealing and I like the "Soldier's Cross" in the middle which 4/26/2016 4:53 PM symbolizes the Veterans it represents.

47 The Flame of Liberty. It is more generic and modern than the eagle, reflecting the town's looking forward 4/25/2016 8:23 AM

48 Neither. Too big. 4/23/2016 7:30 AM

49 the eternal flame 4/22/2016 10:11 PM

50 I do not believe the town should fund this activity with tax dollars 4/22/2016 5:23 PM

1 While I really like the patriotism, Americanism of the eagle and the flag, I like the soldier's cross and the veteran 6/2/2016 9:01 AM homage of the flame. Pushed to decide I would have to go with flame idea.

2 same as above 6/2/2016 8:36 AM

3 "The Flame of Liberty" I liked its ambience 6/1/2016 4:32 PM

4 Both are good, but I slightly prefer the Flame of Liberty. It captures your attention. 6/1/2016 11:23 AM

5 The eagle statue seems like it would be more fitting in the environment with the trees and nature. 5/31/2016 4:13 PM

6 Neither. We do not need any glorification or romanticized symbol of war. 5/31/2016 11:46 AM

7 Does not belong in the Civic Center but at Los Gatos Oak Meadow Park 5/31/2016 10:08 AM

8 Neither. They are way too massive to fit into the Civic Center environment. The size of our community doesn't warrant 5/31/2016 6:29 AM the size of either of these proposals.

9 I do not think either Design specifically represents veterans and their sacrifices. 5/30/2016 7:53 PM

10 Eagle 5/30/2016 5:22 PM

11 Both statues are nice but "The Flame..." is sophisticated, creative, unique just like Los Gatos. 5/30/2016 5:13 PM

12 The flame because it combines different media with a background and surrounding area that flows and blends. 5/30/2016 4:10 PM

13 The Flame of Liberty. Given that Los Gatos is a multi national community (just listen next time at all the different 5/30/2016 2:53 PM language spoken at the farmer's market for example), I think the flame-and the association to the status of liberty- is more fitting for our town.

14 Again the eagle represents the natural ecology of California and a symbol of freedom. 5/30/2016 2:42 PM

15 both are well suited for Los Gatos - they both offer respected patriotic symbolism of our country and our fallen soldiers 5/29/2016 9:57 AM

16 The Flame of Liberty would fit in nicely with the modern nature of the library. 5/29/2016 8:32 AM

17 Concept 2: "The Flame of Liberty". This is something that would be an addition to the character of Los Gatos. This 5/28/2016 5:56 PM concept would be the one that people would take notice of.

18 The Flame might be more fitting because it is of a lighter material. It is also nice that it glows after dark. 5/20/2016 5:14 PM

19 Some people would be sad to see a gun on a memorial. The Eagle represents hope, the soul rising to God. 5/20/2016 4:51 PM

20 The Flame of Liberty because seems to fit the era of the civic center buildings. 5/19/2016 9:48 PM

21 We have located here to be in the wildlife environment. 5/17/2016 4:05 PM

22 The Flame of Liberty. I think the layers of antique glass would have a nice defining look to the area. I do not 5/13/2016 2:19 PM understand the "surrounding community" part of the question.

23 The Eagle and Flag represent Freedom . The design fits in well with the Civic Center and the Redwood Trees. 5/11/2016 5:55 PM

24 Flame of Liberty - big and symbolic by our beloved town 5/11/2016 12:26 PM

25 The Eagle represents Freedom as it flies above the mighty redwoods and mountains living amongst Nature's greatest 5/11/2016 7:20 AM creatures.

26 Neither is worthy of the veterans nor the space. 5/9/2016 9:00 PM

27 The Flame of Liberty is a more sophisticated and complex work, much more fitting to Los Gatos than the rather 5/8/2016 7:11 PM common eagle with flag motif.

3 / 12 Public Comment Form for the Town of Los Gatos Veterans Memorial Project

28 Both will fit well... 5/8/2016 7:06 AM

29 They both fit in ok. 5/7/2016 7:02 PM

30 The Flame of Liberty is a more sophisticated sculpture than the Eagle, more befitting the vibrant and progressive 5/7/2016 4:59 PM Town of Los Gatos that we have become.

31 I like the less traditional and more artistic design of the centerpiece of the Flame. 5/7/2016 10:45 AM

32 The Eagle for the reasons I stated in # 1. 5/7/2016 10:14 AM

33 The Flame of Liberty 5/6/2016 1:53 PM

34 Flame of Liberty, for the same reasons as above 5/6/2016 10:56 AM

35 I think a flame as it is more alive. Although, I think a garden or grove is even more representative of California 5/6/2016 10:53 AM

36 Bald Eagle - More a symbol of Nature - the Park there is a beautiful outside oasis for LG residents. 5/5/2016 5:13 PM

37 Neither. Too big 5/5/2016 12:28 PM

38 The Flame of Liberty. The flame design blends in more in my opinion. The eagle would stand out. 5/5/2016 12:04 PM

39 The former, for the reasons previously noted. 5/4/2016 8:11 PM

40 see above comment 5/2/2016 4:15 PM

41 I I think the Flame fits well with the other sculpture on the lawn 4/30/2016 12:41 PM

42 The flame because the colors fit in well 4/27/2016 1:48 PM

43 I think both concepts could fit into the area. 4/26/2016 11:49 PM

44 The Flame of Liberty includes a number of natural elements that compliment and enhance the natural environment of 4/26/2016 4:56 PM the site - water, organic winding shapes.

45 I think the Eagle design can be seen anywhere....I like the uniqueness of the Flame of Liberty and feel it says more 4/26/2016 4:53 PM about our town.

46 It flows with the vision of the hills surrounding Los Gatos 4/25/2016 8:23 AM

47 Neither. To large and too tall. Seems out of place. 4/23/2016 7:30 AM

48 either one equally 4/22/2016 10:11 PM

49 None 4/22/2016 5:23 PM

1 Hard to know the mind of our little community but when faced with the idea of moving forward.... The flame is largest 6/2/2016 9:01 AM in my mind. It seems it would be the most vulnerable to vandalism but what can one do? I like the general, country wide appeal of the eagle and the flag, but in keeping with the greater theme of a 'veteran's memorial' I would have to vote for the flame.

2 same choice…. 6/2/2016 8:36 AM

3 "The Eagle," because it represented all of the branches of the military 6/1/2016 4:32 PM

4 Again, Flame of Liberty. It is more likely to generate discussions. 6/1/2016 11:23 AM

5 I think the eagle is a great symbol of our nation and understood by all ages and backgrounds. The flame is more 5/31/2016 4:13 PM conceptual and not as obvious of a symbol of the United States.

6 The unfortunate truth is that either monument will be ignored by all but the veterans themselves. 5/31/2016 11:46 AM

7 The flame is a religio, a reverence piece that memorials are about. 5/31/2016 10:08 AM

8 There is nothing particularly military about either an eagle or a flame no matter how eternal it is. 5/30/2016 7:53 PM

9 Eagle 5/30/2016 5:22 PM

10 The "Flame" is a teaching tool as well as a Memorial. The heartbeat of a veterans memorial is the veteran/soldiers. All 5/30/2016 5:13 PM ages will learn from this masterpiece.

11 The flame because the fascinating use of different texture and the powerful symbolism of the eternal flame and 5/30/2016 4:10 PM ultimate sacrifice.

12 The Flame of Liberty. See answer to #2. 5/30/2016 2:53 PM

13 The eagle is an inherent symbol of our nation's lore. 5/30/2016 2:42 PM

14 the flame is more encompassing to all visitors - the eagle and flag is very patriotic and part of our country's core - I 5/29/2016 9:57 AM think the flame offers the same, however, in addition, since the Statue of Liberty was a gift of gratitude from anither country - it opens the door for more people from everywhere to enjoy to power and mystery of the flame

15 While I like the The Flame of Liberty I do think that the more traditional nature of The Eagle would appeal to a more of 5/29/2016 8:32 AM the Los Gatos community.

16 Concept 2: "The Flame of Liberty". It has lighting effects and has a dynamic presentation 5/28/2016 5:56 PM

17 Eagles are always a draw. With it on the U.S. flag, it evokes patriotism. With inscriptions on the base, it could be quite 5/20/2016 5:14 PM moving.

18 I like all the signs on the wall with the names of the people we want to remember and honor. 5/20/2016 4:51 PM

19 I think either would, but something more abstract like the Flame of Liberty inspires more emotion, in my opinion. 5/19/2016 9:48 PM

20 All ages will appreciate this representation. 5/17/2016 4:05 PM

21 The Flame of Liberty. I think it speaks first to military but also families and non military. The flame is part of our 5/13/2016 2:19 PM country's history but also common in other areas of our lives, example the Olympic Flame.

22 They are both worthy of those who have served. 5/11/2016 5:55 PM

23 Same - redundant. 5/11/2016 12:26 PM

24 The Eagle can be observed by young and old up close to see its tallons holding onto all it is meant to embrace and 5/11/2016 7:20 AM protect. The determination in the eyes will always fight for freedom and never stray from its course.

25 The Flame of Liberty honors the sacrifice and does not present either a dove or hawk stance. The Eagle doesn't say 5/8/2016 7:11 PM much other than presenting a much used patriotic image.

5 / 12 Public Comment Form for the Town of Los Gatos Veterans Memorial Project

26 Both will be enjoyed... 5/8/2016 7:06 AM

27 the eagle might be a bit more broadly appreciated 5/7/2016 7:02 PM

28 The champagne-colored glass would reflect different colors for people, depending upon the time of the day and the 5/7/2016 4:59 PM angle of the sun. Thus it would appeal to many different people depending upon the conditions of the light striking it. The Eagle would be more static and less interesting to various groups of people.

29 I think a sculpture created in 2015/6 in the high tech region in which Los Gatos is located should be more modern. 5/7/2016 10:45 AM

30 The Eagle as it's peaceful, reflective and doesn't feel evasive but protective and friendly at the same time. 5/7/2016 10:14 AM

31 The Flame of Liberty 5/6/2016 1:53 PM

32 Flame of Liberty will be the most universally enjoyed. The Eagle may be perceived by some as over the top, 5/6/2016 10:56 AM dominating or too strong.

33 I think a flame is a more universal representation and speaks across cultures more than an eagle. Many, many 5/6/2016 10:53 AM cultures use a flame or fire to represent values of the spirit and sacrifice.

34 Both are enjoyable - I still prefer the bald eagle 5/5/2016 5:13 PM

35 Neither. The proportions are not suitable for location. 5/5/2016 12:28 PM

36 The Flame of Liberty. The eagle is almost fierce enough to scare small children. 5/5/2016 12:04 PM

37 The former, for the reasons previously noted. 5/4/2016 8:11 PM

38 neither 5/2/2016 4:15 PM

39 The eternal flame harks back to the flame of lady libertys torch, and the soldiers cross represents those who fought for 4/30/2016 12:41 PM the ideals she symbolizes

40 I think the eternal flame with its lighting and multi medium concept would engage people more. 4/26/2016 11:49 PM

41 Definitely the Flame concept. It's more conceptual and much more "open" in it's design to encourage a wide variety of 4/26/2016 4:56 PM people to interpret and reflect on the subject matter in their own personal way. HOWEVER, I the the Soldier's Cross in the center of the Flame has to go! Under no circumstances do I wish to contemplate and honor the lives of veterans by staring at a helmet and cross. Please keep in mind that not all Veterans served/serve with a helmet and gun. Many veterans served and still serve our country through service and humanitarian efforts that did not include the use of weapons and battle fatigues. Enough with the war symbols. It's a veteran's memorial. Not a war memorial.

42 Again, I don't see the Eagle offering anything new or vibrant to the people looking at it. The Flame is sombre enough 4/26/2016 4:53 PM for Veterans to respect whilst being interesting and engaging for younger groups.

43 The eagle is a more traditional and static monument 4/25/2016 8:23 AM

44 No idea. 4/23/2016 7:30 AM

45 eternal flame 4/22/2016 10:11 PM

46 None 4/22/2016 5:23 PM

1 My best suggestion; GET IT DONE!! 6/2/2016 9:01 AM

2 Can't think of anything 6/1/2016 4:32 PM

3 No suggestions 6/1/2016 11:23 AM

4 Make it as small and inconspicuous as possible. 5/31/2016 11:46 AM

5 A quiet place of reflection not a concept that turns the Civic Center into a Memorial Civic Center. 5/31/2016 10:08 AM

6 Scale down drasticaly or place in Oak Meadow Park. 5/31/2016 6:29 AM

7 Find another artist that knows something about the military. 5/30/2016 7:53 PM

8 The concepts are not detailed enough yet to comment on enhancements. 5/30/2016 5:22 PM

9 I love the artistic quality of the walls by "The Flame" . I also liked the Bell from the town's past history included in the 5/30/2016 5:13 PM Eagle presentation. Wonder if it could be included in the Flames concept.

10 Benches for meditation and enjoying it 5/30/2016 4:10 PM

11 Some information about all the veterans that are from Los Gatos. Could the flame be lit at night (maybe via a solar 5/30/2016 2:53 PM powered cell)?

12 Use lighting to increase the dramatic presentation of the eagle. 5/30/2016 2:42 PM

13 although the memorial is located in Los Gatos, I would want visitors from everywhere to feel like it is for them as well 5/29/2016 9:57 AM

14 The presentation covered the concept of the memorial well. 5/28/2016 5:56 PM

15 I like the idea of the walls surrounding the sculpture, but also the openness of it. Using the wall to include not only the 5/20/2016 5:14 PM names of those who have served--and fallen--but inspirational and patriotic messages would enhance it greatly, while also messaging the purpose for which our veterans served our great country.

16 Could you make the American Flag look a little more attractive under the Eagle? I does not look naturally wind blown. 5/20/2016 4:51 PM

17 I can't remember if there is low, backless, bench seating in front of the Flame, but I think it would be a good idea. 5/19/2016 9:48 PM Something simple to mimic the walls behind it.

18 Male and female statues, back to back, with the Soldier's Cross rising above, of Eagle materials. 5/17/2016 4:05 PM

19 Not being military myself I do not feel qualified to answer this but have supported this project and followed its progress 5/13/2016 2:19 PM from the beginning and think everyone who has worked on this has done a great job

20 More benches in the trees.....First responder recognition. 5/11/2016 5:55 PM

21 Engraved around the base "Freedom is not Free" 5/11/2016 12:26 PM

22 The ideas presented are good. It's all moving in the right direction. Thank you for this tribute to Service. 5/11/2016 7:20 AM

23 While neither of the two current proposals fits particularly well, there were some elements of the "flame of liberty" 5/9/2016 9:00 PM design that could form the basis of a more tasteful and impactful design: 1) the "soldiers' cross"immediately conveys the veterans message as well as recalls their sacrifice 2) the wall, if significantly scaled down and curved to fit the plaza, could incorporate a tribute to the general group of veterans as well as contain the names of the individual veterans who have been wounded or give their lives. It would be nice to include some green in that otherwise austere place.

24 For The Flame of Liberty, add the traditional boots at the base of the soldiers cross. 5/8/2016 7:06 AM

25 pay particular attention to the surrounding walk and seating. The video for the eagle memorial looks pretty good 5/7/2016 7:02 PM

26 I believe the images of the Flame of Liberty include water at the base. If not, that would be a great way to set off the 5/7/2016 4:59 PM sculpture. Light reflecting from the water would also play off of the glass, further enhancing its interest.

27 I am assuming that the names of all Los Gatos veterans who have lost their lives will be inscribed on the wall. 5/7/2016 10:45 AM

7 / 12 Public Comment Form for the Town of Los Gatos Veterans Memorial Project

28 Proper lighting throughout the evening hours to honor it and protect it as our Veterans have done for us. 5/7/2016 10:14 AM

29 The video of the Eagle is clearly better in terms of context than the Flame, so they should both be the same for a fair 5/6/2016 10:56 AM comparison. Also, please work in the relocation of the Fire Bell with the Flame proposal as well.

30 I think the flame is too large. It should be people sized or less. Not a bonfire but a memorial fire that encourages 5/6/2016 10:53 AM contemplation. Someplace also to sit and enjoy the visual. Also, some list of our MANY conflicts, maybe a pavement brick for all our wars with the years and all the people died in them. I prefer a peace memorial that commemorates all those who have served to ensure we live in peace in this country. It still needs some water to reflect the light.

31 Maybe some way for people to "temporarily honor" someone they know who died serving our country. A screen with 5/5/2016 5:13 PM names - maybe you can tweet it and it rotates in for an hour or a day? Or something like that....

32 Smaller.. These are "in your face" . The rifle with helmet is particularly male orientated. 5/5/2016 12:28 PM

33 A low-profile memorial that would be a quiet statement through it's design and inspire reflection by those who view it. 5/2/2016 4:15 PM

34 bronze seals of each branch of service 4/30/2016 12:41 PM

35 My suggestions and questions regarding the proposed Memorial "Flame of Liberty." 1. remove the Soldier's Cross 4/26/2016 4:56 PM from Center of flame. 2. use more variety of colors in the flame to truly reflect the colors of a natural flame - yellows, reds, blues, etc. 3. I like the idea of a real flame burning in the interior of the glass flame. 4. Simplify the hardscape around the memorial. Integrate the platform and pathways in a simpler and more integrated way. 5. What material is being used for the ribbon walls? They look pretty thick. What about using thinner copper or corten steel, both of which will age with a patina that will nicely blend in with the redwood environment.

36 Not sure if there are seats planned to be around it but I would recommend this..... 4/26/2016 4:53 PM

37 add some seating -- not clear there is any around the flame 4/25/2016 8:23 AM

38 Reduce the size. 4/23/2016 7:30 AM

1 Time for talking was past two years ago, please get moving on this and bring it to fruition! My thanks to the foundation 6/2/2016 9:01 AM board for their tireless efforts to hold the town counsel's feet to the fire for this community project, that has been so long in coming.

2 my famiy represents both, veterans and first responders…..thank you for the inclusiveness. 6/2/2016 8:36 AM

3 I was impressed with both of the sculptures 6/1/2016 4:32 PM

4 Thank you for soliciting the opinions of Town residents. 5/31/2016 11:46 AM

5 It would be a major mistake to place either of these massive monuments at the town center. It will set a precedent for 5/31/2016 6:29 AM future sculpture proposals.

6 The two selected choices just do not resonate with me. 5/30/2016 7:53 PM

7 Thanks for doing this memorial, I’m totally behind you and will support the effort as much as possible. 5/30/2016 5:22 PM

8 I live off Los Gatos Almaden Road in San Jose several blocks from the Los Gatos border. Los Gatos is the town I 5/30/2016 5:13 PM shop and help my wife who has operated her 7-Eleven store on Santa Cruz Ave for 41 years. For all practical purposes Los Gatos is our town.

9 Can't wait to see it completed. 5/30/2016 2:53 PM

10 congratulations on the project 5/29/2016 9:57 AM

11 Thanks to both artists for all the work they have put into these designs. However, I would be afraid that vandals could 5/20/2016 4:51 PM break the glass on the flame design.

12 Both are beautiful and excellent choices to represent our respected veteran heroes. 5/17/2016 4:05 PM

13 Nice to see the Fire Bell in a decent place. Hope it rings. 5/11/2016 5:55 PM

14 Let's get moving on this project. 3+ years is more than enough time in spite of internal opposition by some on the 5/11/2016 12:26 PM Council.

15 Looking forward to seeing its completion! 5/11/2016 7:20 AM

16 Glad to see progress on this important monument in a fitting location. These things take time and should not be 5/9/2016 9:00 PM rushed.

17 I eagerly await either of these design's completion! A hearty "well done!" to all involved! 5/8/2016 7:06 AM

18 Great tribute to our military heroes and great opportunity for sophisticated Public Art. Excellent work on the part of the 5/7/2016 4:59 PM Town and the Veterans Foundation. Thanks to you both.

19 Thank you for your decision not to do the intrusive first design up on the plaza. 5/7/2016 10:14 AM

20 Thank you for the public process 5/6/2016 10:56 AM

21 Keep it low key and tasteful. It should be a thinking place that is inviting contemplation. There is a beautiful chapel ( St. 5/6/2016 10:53 AM Ignatius) that incorporates light at University of Seattle and is very contemplative and restful. This combination of light, nature and spirit as exemplified in that building translated into a more open air memorial would be beautiful. Strive for excellence and simplicity.

22 Please modify these concepts - neither fits our community at large. 5/2/2016 4:15 PM

23 I think having a memorial for those who have fought for our country is a great thing for our community. 4/26/2016 11:49 PM

24 Good luck! 4/26/2016 4:56 PM

25 the eternal flame is more artistic...the eagle is done too often as a theme and doesn't feel like "art" 4/22/2016 10:11 PM

26 The town is proposing a hike in taxes. The town need to focus its limited funds on neccessary services. The town 4/22/2016 5:23 PM needs to reduce spending on non-essential enhancements that require on-going maintenance and cost.
