Over the past couple of years, major improvements have been made to Pilots’ athletic facilities, affecting all of our major men’s and women’s sports. These upgrades benefit not only our players but our fan experience as well. Coach Brent Lavallee and the Pilots baseball

August 14, 2018

Hello Pilot Fans,

Where did the summer go?!?! It feels like just yesterday that I met with James and Mark to talk about what we wanted to get accomplished this summer and now we are welcoming back our student-athletes! Needless to say it’s been a busy sum- mer. We installed new bleachers and a climate controlled press box at soccer, along with a BRAND NEW TIFTUF BER- MUDA GRASS PLAYING SURFACE! Our soccer players can’t wait to get on it (we put up barbed wire to keep them off it)! We also painted the entire gym with a brilliant bright white paint that has made it look new, and installed new chair back seating which I’m very excited about. There are also new surfaces being put down at tennis which is allowing our tennis team to finally be able to practice and compete on campus, and the last big project that we are currently working to finish is a new sod infield at baseball. I wasn’t lying when I said this summer flew by.

Mark has been working on taking our Sports Information Department to the next level. He has worked hard on our new website which looks great (www.lsusathletics.com), and we will be airing a new coach’s show hosted by Mark Cantrell every two weeks. Coach Bohn was the first guest last week.

Make sure to mark your calendars for our first home women’s soccer game August 24th, and unlike last year we have a heavy home slate so there will be many opportunities to watch our men and women play. Expectations are high and we are chomping at the bit to get started.

Last school year concluded with 4 RRAC championships and the goal for this year is to exceed that number. I can’t wait to get things rolling!

It’s a great day to be a Pilot!
