WHEREAS, Coach Broderick Fobbs, in his third year at the university, led the Grambling State Tigers last year to an overall record of twelve and one, capping the season as 2016 SWAC Football Champions, defeating Alcorn State 27-20 in the title game, and as 2016 HBCU National Football champions, prevailing over North Carolina Central 10-9 in the Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl; and WHEREAS, after a one-year stint serving as the wide receivers' coach with Southern Mississippi University in 2012, Fobbs returned to McNeese State University in 2013 for a sixth overall season as a member of the McNeese coaching staff as the tight ends' coach, having previously served there as co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers' coach; and also worked as an offensive graduate assistant at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette during the 2000-2001 season; and WHEREAS, as a high school player at Carroll High School in Monroe, he earned all-state and all-district honors in football and baseball, played in the state baseball and football all-star games and earned a scholarship to Grambling State University as a running back; and WHEREAS, under legendary GSU Head Football Coach Eddie Robinson, Coach Fobbs served as a two-time team captain for the Tigers and led the Southwestern Athletic Conference in yards per carry of 7.1 one season while gaining more than one thousand yards during his college football career; and WHEREAS, he was an honors student and earned his bachelor's degree from the university in 1997; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO.

    Louisiana Federation of Teachers Weekly Legislative Digest May 1, 2015 Steve Monaghan, President * Les Landon, Editor 2015 Regular Legislative Session Now available on the Web at http://la.aft.org Panel votes to silence public employees Despite the best arguments of teachers, firefighters, police officers and other public servants, the House Labor and Industrial Relations Committee approved a bill that will make it inconvenient for employees to join and maintain membership in the union or association of their choice. The purpose of HB 418 by Rep. Stuart Bishop (R-Lafayette) is to weaken unions like the Louisiana Federation of Teachers and Louisiana Association of Educators. These are the groups that have raised questions about, and led the opposition to, so-called “reforms” backed by big business that all too often result in the privatization of education and diminution of the teaching profession. HB 418 would revoke the right of public employees to pay their union or association dues through payroll deduction. Since local governments currently have the authority to grant payroll deduction, the bill is seen by school boards and others as legislative meddling in their prerogatives. The bill is the brainchild of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry, which has been twisting the arms of lawmakers to force its passage. The big business lobby recruited the Koch brothers backed Americans for Prosperity to publicly promote the bill. It is an example of what columnist Stephanie Grace, in another context, called “an ugly yet ascendant strain in American politics, a willingness to use any means necessary, no matter what chaos ensues or who gets hurt.” The vitriol motivating the bill’s supporters was on full display when an amendment was proposed to exempt the teacher unions from its prohibitions.

Rosen U.S. Department of Justice 950 Pennsylvania Avenue Washington DC 20530-0001 Dear Acting Attorney General Rosen, We write to echo and emphasize our colleagues’ condemnation of the violent breach of the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021. Such an abhorrent act is an affront to our nation, and we commend the United States Department of Justice for taking expedient steps toward prosecution. Attorneys General are called to lead by and to the rule of law in pursuit of justice and equality. We should all – collectively – decry political violence in every instance. The culture war is no longer a cold one, and it’s heating rapidly. The last several years have seen an assassination attempt that left Representative Steve Scalise fighting for his life, bombs mailed to public figures and detonated in city centers, buildings or entire blocks taken or held by force, and mass demonstrations that led to destruction, injury, and death. Our people and police officers are targeted and killed, our courthouses and churches burned, and the seat of our nation’s government was breached by an angry mob. Like all Americans, we seek clarity and direction toward a bright future. Like all of you, we believe the rule of law clearly leads to harmony. But until we Attorneys General stand together against all political violence, we amplify aimless partisan wandering instead of taking strides toward unity. When Antifa or like-minded rioters stoked violence on college campuses, we did not have the strength to unify. Now they stoke violence in our streets as we wonder where all this chaos started.
