THESIS REPORT Mapping a Policy-making Process The case of Komodo National Park, Indonesia Novalga Aniswara MSc Tourism, Society & Environment Wageningen University and Research A Master’s thesis Mapping a policy-making process: the case of Komodo National Park, Indonesia Novalga Aniswara 941117015020 Thesis Code: GEO-80436 Supervisor: prof.dr. Edward H. Huijbens Examiner: dr. ir. Martijn Duineveld Wageningen University and Research Department of Environmental Science Cultural Geography Chair Group Master of Science in Tourism, Society and Environment i ACKNOWLEDGEMENT Tourism has been an inseparable aspect of my life, starting with having a passion for travelling until I decided to take a big step to study about it back when I was in vocational high school. I would say, learning tourism was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life considering opportunities and experiences which I encountered on the process. I could recall that four years ago, I was saying to myself that finishing bachelor would be my last academic-related goal in my life. However, today, I know that I was wrong. With the fact that the world and the industry are progressing and I raise my self-awareness that I know nothing, here I am today taking my words back and as I am heading towards the final chapter from one of the most exciting journeys in my life – pursuing a master degree in Wageningen, the Netherlands. Never say never. In completing this thesis, I received countless assistances and helps from people that I would like to mention. Firstly, I would not be at this point in my life without the blessing and prayers from my parents, grandma, and family.

  • CAMBODIA and VIETNAM Birds
Best of Vietnam & Cambodia 6th to 24th March 2017 (19 days) Central Vietnam Extension 24th to 31st March 2017 (8 days) Bar-bellied Pitta by Suppalak Klabdee After being isolated from the birding and travelling world for so long, these two countries have become key destinations on the world birding travel map. Cambodia has emerged as one of South-east Asia’s finest birding and cultural destinations and here we look for the globally threatened Bengal Florican and Giant and White-shouldered Ibises. At the famous Prek Toal water-bird colony, on Tonle Sap Lake (the largest lake in the region), we hope to find Greater and Lesser Adjutants, Black-headed Ibis and both Milky and Painted Storks. Finally, we also devote some time in the country’s capital to search for RBT Cambodia and Vietnam & Extension Itinerary 2 the newly described Cambodian Tailorbird, amazingly only discovered in 2009 right in the capital itself! In Vietnam, we concentrate on the endemic bird areas in the south, and will visit Nam Cat Tien National Park and Da Lat area, with its host of South Vietnamese endemics! A long list of avian highlights includes the likes of Germain’s Peacock-Pheasant, Green Peafowl, Vietnamese Greenfinch, Black-headed Parrotbill, Grey-crowned Crocias, Black-hooded, White-cheeked and Orange-breasted Laughingthrushes and Bar-bellied Pitta. Now that peace reigns over these once troubled lands, we invite those with a taste for the exotic to explore these two fantastic countries with us. Summer Time, begins and ends. A blank DST box usually indicates that the location stays on Standard Time all year, although in some cases the location stays on Summer Time all year. If a location is currently on DST, add one hour to the time in the Time column. To determine how much and in which direction you will need to adjust your watch, first adjust the time offsets of your source and destination for DST if applicable, then subtract the offset of your departure city from the offset of your destination. For example, if you were flying from Houston (UTC−6) to South Africa (UTC+2) in June, first you would add an hour to the Houston time for DST, making it UTC−5, then you would subtract 5 from +2. +2 (5) = +2 + (+5) = +7, so you would need to advance your watch by seven hours. If you were going in the opposite direction, you would subtract 2 from 5, giving you 7, indicating that you would need to turn your watch back seven hours.
