A great read for any F1 fan - you don't have to be a Webber fan to get a lot out of this book.By William L. CotterI wasn't a big Mark Webber fan (but I didn't dislike him either.) After reading his book I have anew appreciation for him. He brings to light many of the unseen political actions and favoritism that goes on behind the scenes in F1. The book is not always flattering towards team owners that I held in high regard. It really shows that F1 is a large business. I guess they don't call it the Piranha Club for nothing. My eyes were opened to this and also to the amazing amount of effort Webber put into getting into F1 in the first place. This is a good read for any F1 fan.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Pretty good sports bioBy BillHIt's pretty good for a sports autobiography. Webber admits in the introduction that he, like most, had a ghost writer. That's OK. Webber tells his story, warts and all (mostly), but the writing is pedestrian. He's a guy with great passion for the sport and, I think, for like. Happy to have read it as he was one of my favorite drivers to watch.Recommended, but buy a used copy if you can.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. The best book i've read for motor sports, an amazing driver and person.By Bruno ZA must read to any motor sports fan! Such an inspirational story, extremely well detailed, honest, very pleasant to read.I was already a fan of Mark, but after this book, my admiration grown exponentially. Such a humble, hard worker, talented and loving person.Recommended even for those who do not follow motor racing! Mark Webber was at the center of one of the most captivating chapters in the history of Formula One. In 2010, while racing for Red Bull, he and his team mate Sebastian Vettel went head to head for the World Championship. There could only be one winner. Since retiring from Formula One Mark has concentrated on endurance racing, including the legendary Le Mans 24 Hour race. He hit the front pages of newspapers around the world in December 2014 when he slammed into the barricades in the final round of the FIA World Endurance Championship in South America, and was lucky to escape with his life. But the controversy of his relationship on and off the track with Vettel, who went on to win multiple world titles, has never been far beneath the surface. Here, for the first time, Webber tells the inside story of one of Formula One's most intriguing battlesmdash;it is a story that goes to the heart of why the sport is loved by millions of fans around the world. In his trademark straight-talking, no-nonsense style Mark reveals his amazing life on and off the Formula One race track. From his first taste of karting to his F1 debut in 2002, scoring Minardi's first points in three years at the Australian Grand Prix, through to his first win with Red Bull at the 2009 German Grand Prix and the year he should have been crowned World Champion. Mark Webber's journey to the top of Formula One was every bit as determined and committed as his racing. This is his searingly honest story. Includes a foreword by Formula One legend Sir Jackie Stewart "This should be an entertaining read." nbsp;mdash;GearPatrol.com [WwZ5l.ebook] Aussie Grit: My Formula One Journey By Mark Webber PDF [WwZ5l.ebook] Aussie Grit: My Formula One Journey By Mark Webber Epub [WwZ5l.ebook] Aussie Grit: My Formula One Journey By Mark Webber Ebook [WwZ5l.ebook] Aussie Grit: My Formula One Journey By Mark Webber Rar [WwZ5l.ebook] Aussie Grit: My Formula One Journey By Mark Webber Zip [WwZ5l.ebook] Aussie Grit: My Formula One Journey By Mark Webber Read Online.

Feet Up Friday – There aren’t enough bobbleheads in the world Christine: We’ve just had two back-to-back races and now we’ve got back-to-back Feet up Friday’s, this almost never happens anymore. Mr C: It feels like we are underway, the season is go and it’s been non-stop from the first green flag of the year. This is the first break we’ve had, a little bit of downtime for Sidepodcast, but still we are recording a new show for you, that’s how hard we are working this year. Christine: But after two races in a row we’ve got three weeks off now and then there’s another two races and then there’s another three weeks off, it’s just weird scheduling this calendar. Mr C: It’s a crazy calendar, but it makes sense for the people who have to endure it. If you are a Formula 1 team who has to pay personnel to go off overseas, back-to-back races makes a lot of sense. You can cram in a lot of action, you can cram in a lot of racing in a fortnight, and then you can get back to base and save yourself a lot of money and in these troubled economic times, that is essential, so you can’t hold in against… you cannot hold the calendar against the people who have to go out there and live it. Christine: No. And having three weeks off gives us plenty of time to ponder everything that happened in Malaysia because my goodness that was a controversial race.

Press Release OCTOBER 06, 2013 Podium lock out for Renault power in Korean Grand Prix Sebastian Vettel wins Korean Grand Prix for Infiniti Red Bull RacingRenault, four seconds ahead of Kimi Raikkonen. Lotus F1 Team’s Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean finish second and third to make podium 100% Renault powered. Third allRenault powered podium this season. Vettel has led 209 of the past 213 racing laps. Vettel’s win gives him a mathematical chance to seal championship in Japan. Renaultpowered drivers locked out the podium in today’s Korean Grand Prix, with Sebastian Vettel (Infiniti Red Bull Racing) winning the chaotic race from Lotus F1 Team’s Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean. The perfect podium result is the third time this season that the podium has been 100% Renaultpowered.* Vettel – whose pole position yesterday took Renault’s total of F1 poles to 208, equal with Ferrari’s record – opened up a comfortable lead at the start ahead of Grosjean, who had jumped ahead of Hamilton on the first corner. The pair built up a cushion of several seconds over the battles behind and were able to pit and rejoin in formation. Vettel remained in front despite two different safety cars but Raikkonen got the jump on Grosjean before the second safety car period. The Finn had a standout race from P9 on the grid, overtaking Rosberg, Hamilton, Alonso, Hulkenberg and finally his teammate to score his second consecutive podium. Mark Webber started from P13 as a result of a grid penalty but quickly found himself into the top ten racing with Alonso and Raikkonen.

  • Australian Story - Mark Webber: Driven
RELEASED: Wednesday June 24, 2015 Australian Story - Mark Webber: Driven Screens Monday June 29, 8pm on ABC Introduced by friend and former Australian cricketer, Steve Waugh “Formula One, it is very political. It doesn’t take any prisoners, it is definitely not for the faint-hearted,” Paul Stoddart, former F1 team owner. “When you get different nationalities, when you've got more money than you can poke a stick at, egos that you can't jump over, it's always going to be a nice melting pot for aggravation,” Alan Jones, Australian F1 world champion. “You start to see there’s actually just so much personal interest in certain decisions, like wow, that’s probably not in the best interest of the sport. I just happened to be one of the jokers in the game,” Mark Webber. “Our relationship is totally wrapped up in one another and the motor racing. I suppose we’re just soul mates,” Ann Neal, partner and manager. How did a boy from an ordinary Queanbeyan family make it to the top of Formula One? How did he succeed when thousands of others saw their dreams crash and burn? Mark Webber’s rise through the ranks of motor sport is a boy’s own annual of spectacular successes, frustrating failures and some hair-raising crashes along the way. In an exclusive interview prior to the publication of his autobiography, Mark Webber lifts the lid on the high octane world of Formula One racing and candidly discusses the politics and the rivalries that dogged his career. Webber’s hard slog to the top was inspired by his father Alan.

  • Races to Remember – Canada 2011
Races to Remember – Canada 2011 Hello and welcome to the final episode in the second series of Races to Remember. We’ve had a good run, haven’t we? Reliving the best races that F1 has to offer, particularly those that have been statistically sig- nificant or radically record-breaking. This is our last of seven shows and we’re looking at a race that broke its way into the record books in a number of different ways. We’re talking longest, most safety cars, most pit stops for a winner, every kind of crazy you can think of. You know the race I’m talking about, it’s Canada 2011. 2011 isn’t that long ago, but a quick refresher is required before we dive headlong into the Canadian Grand Prix. It was the seventh race of the season, following the Monaco Grand Prix which had been won by Se- bastian Vettel. The Red Bull driver was leading the championship, with McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton behind him. It wasn’t particularly close at that point, but there was still a good deal of season left for things to get competitive. Sebastian Vettel got his weekend off to a bad start by crashing during the Friday practice sessions but he made good by securing pole position, with two Ferrari drivers behind him – Fernando Alonso ahead of Fe- lipe Massa. Race day dawned very wet, and although as the start approached the downpour halted, the track was still very damp. The strategists had a headache straight away, whether to start on intermediate tyres or full wets, but the problem was solved when the FIA confirmed a safety car start.

Episode 52– He’s Young, He’s Talented, He’s in the Wrong Team Coming Up Chris: Welcome to Sidepodcast, Episode 52 – He’s Young, He’s Talented, He’s in the Wrong Team. Coming up on today’s show, we discuss the bad week in Singapore, Super Aguri’s reasons for delaying their launch and we run down the 2008 entry list. Intro Me: So, how are you today? Chris: Awful. Me: Why? Chris: It’s been the worst week of my whole entire life. Me: Right, not overdramatic at all then. And what has happened this week to make you so unhappy? Chris: Everything has happened. My broadband died, my laptop’s dying, everything is just wrong. Me: Right, so it’s going to be a cheerful show then. Chris: Yep, upbeat and happy. Me: Wonderful. Good Week/Bad Week Chris: It’s been a good week for Ferrari as Trulli has declared them 2008 world champions already. Talking to Autosprint, he said: “The championship already looks over to me before it’s started. When you watch their performance on the track, your arms drop.” Me: So, do you agree with him, do you think it’s over already? Chris: No. Me: No, I think he’s fallen for their games. Chris: We’re trying to be optimistic, remember? It’s been a bad week for marshals at Jerez because they held up the start of Tuesday’s test. A worker was out on one of the corners, the cars piled up to head out on track, but the red light came on.

07 PREVIEW: GP CANADA 2013 CANADA DRIVER QUOTE SEBASTIAN VETTEL Tell us why you like the Canadian Grand Prix: The circuit has a nice rhythm and it’s one of the best races we have all year. The atmosphere and fans are great, the whole city lives F1 for the whole week and that makes us feel very special. I like it. What’s your best memory from there (any era)? Obviously one of the craziest moments was in 2011. There was so much rain; I haven’t seen that much rain carry on for so long since! During the race we had a big break and were in the lead. The race was difficult and with half a lap to go, I made my first mistake of the race which cost us the win. But that’s racing and it’s probably great for the fans to watch when they don’t know who is going to win until the last moment. DRIVER QUOTE MARK WEBBER Tell us why you like the Canadian Grand Prix: Canada is a really good race. It’s a popular Grand Prix for fans and drivers; the fans are very passionate and it’s always an interesting Grand Prix because it’s another street circuit. There are some very good restaurants in Montreal, the whole city stops for the race and the atmosphere is a bit more traditional I would say. What’s your best memory from there (any era)? I haven’t been on the podium there yet, so I need to sort that out.

Press Release MARCH 17, 2013 Renault powers Lotus F1 Team and Kimi Raikkonen to Australian Grand Prix victory The Renaultpowered Lotus F1 Team E21 of Kimi Raikkonen has taken the first win of the 2013 season following a scintillating Australian Grand Prix. The 2007 world champion started from seventh on the grid and used a clever pit stop strategy to secure victory by more than 12 seconds over Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso. Reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel finished in third overall in the Infiniti Red Bull Racing, putting two Renaultengined drivers onto the podium. Raikkonen graduated to fifth off the start and made an early change to the medium compound tyres on lap 9. He completed a long stint on this set of rubber and, despite two light rain showers, stayed out longer than his closest rivals. The Finn returned to the pits on lap 34, after which the strategy unfolded perfectly as Alonso, Hamilton, Massa and Vettel made one further stop, leaving Raikkonen out in front. Vettel converted his pole position into an immediate lead but likewise made an early switch to the medium tyres. He then raced hard with Sutil, Hamilton and Massa, before taking the final podium spot. Teammate Mark Webber had a slow start and struggled with a KERS that only functioned intermittently, but had a strong finish to claim sixth overall. Romain Grosjean (Lotus F1 Team) put a fourth Renaultengined car into the points, claiming tenth. Williams F1 Team had a more difficult race: Valtteri Bottas finished his debut Grand Prix in 14th overall however Pastor Maldonado retired on lap 24 following a spin.
