Christine: But after two races in a row we’ve got three weeks off now and then there’s another two races and then there’s another three weeks off, it’s just weird scheduling this calendar. Mr C: It’s a crazy calendar, but it makes sense for the people who have to endure it. If you are a Formula 1 team who has to pay personnel to go off overseas, back-to-back races makes a lot of sense. You can cram in a lot of action, you can cram in a lot of racing in a fortnight, and then you can get back to base and save yourself a lot of money and in these troubled economic times, that is essential, so you can’t hold in against… you cannot hold the calendar against the people who have to go out there and live it. Christine: No. And having three weeks off gives us plenty of time to ponder everything that happened in Malaysia because my goodness that was a controversial race.

    Communiqué De Presse 27 JUILLET 2014 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Report HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX RACE REPORT Infiniti Red Bull Racing­Renault driver Daniel Ricciardo raced to victory in today’s absorbing Hungarian Grand Prix. Daniel’s win, the second for the team and for the Renault Energy F1­2014 Power Unit this season, came after a thrilling three­way battle for the lead with Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton. Sebastian Vettel secured seventh position for Infiniti Red Bull Racing and Jean­Eric Vergne ninth for Scuderia Toro Rosso, putting three Renault Energy F1­2014 Power Units into the top ten. The result consolidates Infiniti Red Bull Racing’s second position in the constructors’ championship and Daniel Ricciardo’s third in the drivers’ race. Key race points: Daniel Ricciardo mastered the ever­evolving track conditions to move into the lead on lap 9 during the first safety car period. He retained the lead until the second deployment of the safety car and then pitted for a third time in the final third of the race. The Australian hunted down Rosberg for P3, then made a bravado move on Lewis Hamilton for second on lap 67. The next lap he outbraked Alonso into the first corner for the lead and eased out a cushion of five seconds to seal his second career win and the second for the Renault Energy F1­2014 Power Unit. Sebastian Vettel was sitting in the top three until the first safety car. It’s one of those things and a consequence of starting the race at the back. There’s always a chance for fights and contact and it’s easier to be caught up in trouble there. Vettel has led 209 of the past 213 racing laps. Vettel’s win gives him a mathematical chance to seal championship in Japan. Renault­powered drivers locked out the podium in today’s Korean Grand Prix, with Sebastian Vettel (Infiniti Red Bull Racing) winning the chaotic race from Lotus F1 Team’s Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean. The perfect podium result is the third time this season that the podium has been 100% Renault­powered.* Vettel – whose pole position yesterday took Renault’s total of F1 poles to 208, equal with Ferrari’s record – opened up a comfortable lead at the start ahead of Grosjean, who had jumped ahead of Hamilton on the first corner. Sure, he had commitments stateside, and no, his last Grand Prix outing - a one-off appearance for Williams at Long Beach earlier in the 1982 season - had not gone at all smoothly, but how could he turn down the chance to race for Ferrari at Monza, the very same circuit where, as a 14- year-old, he’d screamed himself hoarse supporting Prancing Horse star Alberto Ascari? The answer was simple: he couldn’t. Andretti’s Monza invitation had come amid desperate times for the Scuderia, who’d lost talismanic star Gilles Villeneuve to a fatal crash at Zolder in May and then seen his championship-leading team mate Didier Pironi suffer what looked to be career-ending injuries in another horrific shunt at Hockenheim barely three months later. To make matters worse, Patrick Tambay, the man with the unenviable task of filling Villeneuve’s vaunted number 27 cockpit, had been forced to pull out of the most recent round at Dijon because of severe back pain.
