He returns to Rome to continue his studies, and we wish him Godspeed. We will miss his lively company and his help with Masses and with Confessions. Ciao, Padre Alberto! Father Rosimar is a native of Brazil who is interning as a counselor at Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington while he finishes his Doctorate in Psychology. CHARLES PARISH INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY St. Charles Parish follows Arlington Public Schools (APS) for delays, closures and cancellations: Delays: the Parish Office and Preschool open at the delayed time, and any activities scheduled before that time are cancelled. The Catholic Medical Association is most grateful for their support. The Holy Alliance Project Description The Holy Alliance Project/Program seeks to develop a strong alliance among priests and physician members of the Catholic Medical Association. The unity of faith and reason is under direct assault in our world today. As Catholics, we acknowledge with certainty that the truths of science and the truths of the Faith have one and the same Source. There can never be a conflict between faith and reason. The controversial moral issues of our day all have a medical or bioethical component. Our priests and faithful Catholic physicians must join forces to counter the false claims and seductive arguments that our secularized culture is using to advance the bifurcation of faith and reason. Just as medical professionals need the on-going moral guidance of their spiritual Fathers and shepherds, so also our priests have a need to be updated on the science behind the major moral medical issues of the day. Our priests must confidently speak to their flocks about issues such as the medical dangers of oral contraceptives and the science and success of NaProTechnology in dealing with infertility. The promotion of the misguided Advanced Directive/POLST by our society is one example of an area where our priests need to be well informed. When counseling those who come to them, our priests must be able to respond to those who have been told by a secular doctor that an immoral medical procedure is the “only option” available to them.

Macaluso Location Bloomfield, Connecticut United States Colors Blue and White 1 St. Thomas Seminary, located in Bloomfield, Connecticut, is a minor seminary for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Hartford. The current rector is the Most Reverend Christie A. Macaluso. History[edit] St. Thomas Seminary was founded in 1897 by Bishop Michael Tierney, the sixth Bishop of Hartford. The original Seminary was located at 352 Collins Street in Hartford, in what was once the Chinese College. It opened its doors on September 7, 1897.[1] Bishop Tierney appointed the Right Reverend John Synnott as the first President of St. Thomas. Due to the increasing enrollment it became necessary to find a larger space. Bishop John J. Nilan had the cornerstone laid for the present building in 1928, and in 1930 the seminary moved to its current location in Bloomfield. Collins Street (1897–1930) St. Thomas Seminary opened on September 7, 1897, with 37 students in its first class. On the first floor was a study hall, classrooms, the refectory, and parlors. The second floor consisted of the chapel, a dormitory, and the professors' rooms.[3] Soon after the size of the building proved inadequate for the needs of the diocese, and a new building adjacent to the old Chinese College was erected, serving the diocese until 1930[ Bloomfield (1930–present) On September 30, 1930, St. Thomas opened at its new location in Bloomfield, a suburb of Hartford.

He stood up to read the Scriptures and was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it is written, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has chosen me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free the oppressed and announce that the time has come when the Lord will save his people.” Luke 4:16-19 There could be no better description of the mission of Catholic Charities than this passage from Luke. Through their work in Catholic Charities for over 100 years, priests, religious women, and lay men and women, staff and volunteers alike, have sought to bring the good news and hope to poor and vulnerable individuals and families in our state. They have done so through providing all kinds of direct services in their own Dioceses. They have also done so by coming together to speak as one voice at the state level for policies that help all individuals achieve their fullest human potential. Over these last 100 years at the state level, they have done so through the Catholic Welfare Committee, the Catholic Committee, the New York State Catholic Conference, and finally, since 1969, through the State Council of Catholic Charities Directors.
