Dear Friends,

This week we bid a fond but sad farewell to Father Alberto Frigerio, who has been in residence at St. Charles for six months while he studied for one semester at the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Marriage and Family Studies in D.C. He returns to to continue his studies, and we wish him Godspeed. We will miss his lively company and his help with Masses and with Confessions. Ciao, Padre Alberto!

Donations of smaller sized jars are preferred, since many of those who come for food travel by bus. Thank you for helping to feed the hungry. Can’t shop? Consider a monetary donation (checks payable to St. Charles Church, memo: food pantry; or online through Faith Direct, donate through Parish Charities and note: food pantry).

In the Year of Mercy, join Loverde in embracing “the inner joy that comes from receiving mercy.” He invites you to read his letter on the Jubilee www.arlingtondiocese.org/jubilee

“Go, eat rich foods and drink sweet drinks, and allot portions to those who had nothing prepared…” (Nehemiah 8:10) Ezra’s instructions to the people show us that God does not forbid us from enjoying the good things in life, he wants us to be happy! However, He expects us to generously share our blessings with those who are in need, without expecting anything in return. 2016 BISHOP’S LENTEN APPEAL BEGINS! This month many of us will receive a mailing from Bishop Loverde regarding the 2016 Bishop’s Lenten Appeal (BLA). The theme for the 2016 BLA is “Go forth as heralds of God’s mercy.” After reflecting upon the many blessings that God has given you, please prayerfully consider making a pledge of support to this important appeal that funds many programs and ministries that serve the people in our diocese. Every pledge is an expression of God’s love and mercy!
