Please refer to the table of con- tents to find main section headings. The course listings, appearing under each program area heading, provide the following information: • Course number • Course title followed, in parentheses, by the number of semester hours of credit earned for completing the class • Synopsis of the course offering • Prerequisites required for admission to the class, if applicable ACCREDITATION Saint Martin’s University is a comprehensive institution offering undergraduate and graduate level programs. Established in 1895, Saint Martin’s is a Catholic university and is the educational apostolate of St. Martin’s Abbey, a Benedictine monastery of the Roman Catholic Church. Members of the Abbey pray, work and live together on the University campus. Saint Martin’s University is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. This school is authorized under federal law to enroll non-immigrant alien students. Its undergraduate civil engineering and mechanical engineering programs are accredited by ABET, Inc. The teacher, school counseling, and school administration programs of the College of Education and Counseling Psychology are approved by the Washington Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB). The residency teacher education program, which is designed to prepare teacher candidates to become outstanding P-12 professionals, was granted initial accreditation by the Teacher Education Accredi- tation Council (TEAC) for a period of seven years from October 2013 to October 2020. This accred- itation certifies that the forenamed professional education program has provided evidence that the program adheres to TEAC’s quality principles. The University is a member of the American Association of Colleges; Council for Independent Col- leges; Council for the Advancement and Support of Education; Independent Colleges of Washington; National Catholic Education Association; Northwest Association of Private Colleges and Universities; Washington Friends of Higher Education;; American Association of Benedictine Colleges and Univer- sities; and the Carnegie Association for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. Saint Martin’s University’s programs of study are approved by the Washington Student Achievement Council (formerly the Higher Education Coordinating Board) for enrollment of people eligible to receive educational benefits under Title 38 and Title 10. Saint Martin’s University reserves the right to make changes as it deems necessary in procedures, pol- icies, calendar, curriculum, overall academic programs or majors and costs. 4 MISSION STATEMENT Saint Martin’s University is a Catholic Benedictine institution of higher education that empowers stu- dents to pursue a lifetime of learning and accomplishment in all arenas of human endeavor. Saint Martin’s students learn to make a positive difference in their own lives and in the lives of others through the interaction of faith, reason and service. The University honors both the sacredness of the individual and the significance of community in the ongoing journey of becoming. CONTEXT Established in 1895, Saint Martin’s University is the educational mission of Saint Martin’s Abbey, a Catholic Benedictine monastery, whose members pray, work and live together on the University cam- pus. The physical beauty of Saint Martin’s 300-acre campus reflects the rich intellectual and spiritual nature of its presence in the Pacific Northwest. Essential features of university life are animated by its Benedictine identity and its participation in the centuries-old traditions of Catholic intellectual thought and the search for truth. Thus, the University honors students and guides them toward achieving academic excellence. Superior teaching is the expected norm. Rooted in the long tradition of the liberal arts, the University cur- riculum cultivates: creativity and the ability to communicate and pursue ideas; critical thinking and independent inquiry; academic proficiency; the formation of sound ethical judgments; and service to humanity.     Predoctoral Private Fellowships Name: A*STAR Graduate Scholarship Due Date: As it takes about 5 months to process the scholarship applications, interested applicants are strong recommended to plan ahead and apply for the scholarship in advance. Interest: Applicants with a strong interest in a research career are preferred Eligibility: Singaporeans and non-Singaporeans eligible and intending to take up Singapore citizenship. Applicants must satisfy criteria for and seek admission into NTU, NUS and SUTD PhD program. Must have obtained at least a 2nd Upper Class Honours Degree or equivalent in relevant disciplines. Good 'O' and 'A' level results/Polytechnic students who obtained a Diploma with Merit will also be considered. AGS scholars who pursue their PhD at NTU, NUS, or SUTD are not required to do a one year research attachment at A*STAR prior to their PhD. This past year presented challenges that none of us could have foreseen with the global spread of COVID-19. Olympic College, like colleges and universities throughout the state and across the country, was required to temporarily move all instruction and services online. With more than 2,000 courses in our catalog and 7,000 students quarterly, moving everything online was a Herculean task – but we did it. While preparing for our first ever exclusively online quarter, Olympic College also launched a new student management system – Community and Technical College Link (ctcLink). ctcLink replaces an internally built system that was launched in 1984. It provides a modern portal where students can choose a program of study, register for classes, pay tuition, track Marty Cavalluzzi, Ph.D. your progress, apply for graduation and much more. It was yet another President, Olympic College unforeseen challenge for the college and our students to overcome.     Charting the Future for Indiana’s Colleges and Universities Implementation Grants In 2019, Lilly Endowment launched Charting the Future for Indiana’s Colleges and Universities, an initiative to help leaders of the state’s 38 colleges and universities engage in thoughtful discernment about the future of their institutions and advance strategic planning and implementation efforts to address key challenges and opportunities. All of the schools received planning grants in December 2019. This latest round of funding totals $62 million. Grants were made to all 38 schools and range from $999,136 to $5 million (based on school enrollment). Baseler Office: Chair of the Board Hometown: Seattle Term Expires: September 30, 2014 Ted Baseler was reappointed to the Board of Regents in 2009. He has been a leader in the Washington wine industry for 25 years, and continues to help build one of the top wine producing regions in the world. He is president and CEO of Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, which is among the 10 largest wine companies in the U.S.. Regent Baseler has served as the chairman of the Washington Wine Commission, chairman of the Napa-based Wine Market Council, and director of the Washington Wine Institute. He has served on the Washington Business Roundtable and the boards of Children's Hospital and Patrons of Northwest Arts. He is also a strong advocate for WSU. He previously served on the Board of Regents for a short term after serving on the Board of Trustees for 10 years. He has been recognized with the Alumni Achievement Award and the WSU Foundation Outstanding Service Award. He led the efforts to develop a world class Enology and Viticulture program at WSU, working with the State Legislature for funding. He has also been the driving force behind Chateau Ste.
