JANUARY MIXED SALE Wednesday, January 16, 2019 - 12:00 Noon Fairplex - Pomona, CA © Mesaros Calif. Incentive Program_Cat 18_Page 1 CALIFORNIA’S INCENTIVE PROGRAM IT PAYS TO BREED AND OWN A CALIFORNIA-BRED In 2017, the breeders and owners of California-bred Thoroughbreds and the owners of California-based stallions received over $12M in premiums through the California Incentive Program. In addition, special racing opportunities afforded California-breds in 2017, provided more than $20M in purses for races restricted to California-breds. As a result of legislation recently amended in 2009, total monies available for incentive awards are distributed as follows: 10% to the California-bred race fund; 15% to the Maiden Bonus program: 20% bonus on the winner’s share to the owner of a California-bred Thoroughbred horse conceived by a registered eligible Thoroughbred stallion that finishes first in an open qualifying race, and a 10% bonus on the winner’s share to the owner of a California-bred Thoroughbred horse that finishes first in an open qualifying race that was not conceived by a registered eligible Thoroughbred stallion. The tracks are adding an additional 10% for Cal-bred winners of allowance races making the bonus 30%. A qualifying race is all non-claiming races excluding stakes with a purse of at least $15,000, as are open non maiden claiming races with a claiming price of $40,000 or greater in Southern California and $20,000 or greater in Northern California. After these deductions, 75% of the remainder to be paid as breeder awards, and 25% of the fund to be paid as stallion awards.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22, 2016 PLETCHER JUVENILES SARATOGA BOUND >MOON= ON THE RISE, >ICE= by Ben Massam ON THE COMEBACK TRAIL Some two months into the 2-year-old racing season, seven-time Eclipse Award winner Todd Pletcher has already established his customary position at the fore of the training ranks, with two juvenile stakes wins and a number of other promising prospects. Pletcher=s barn was firing on all cylinders this past weekend, sending out three maiden graduates in the span of three hours at Belmont Park and Monmouth Park, Saturday. Pletcher kicked off the action with a rallying score by Bronson (Medaglia d=Oro) in a five-furlong maiden event at the Jersey Shore [video]. Given that the colt=s pedigree leans toward longer-distance races and turf--including his MGSW dam Cambiocorsa (Avenue of Flags)--Pletcher said that he was pleased to see his charge win at first asking on dirt. AWe=ll definitely consider the [July 23 GIII] Sanford [for Donegal Moon | Equi-Photo Bronson],@ Pletcher said. TUESDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2016 TRAIN THEM LIKE PLETCHER WAR FRONT TO STAND by Bill Finley FOR $250,000 IN >17 A young Indian girl is infatuated by a sport but partaking in it runs counter to everything that her parents and their culture believe, that a woman should focus on her education, family and marriage and that sports are a male domain. Aparna Battula saw that movie, too. ABend It Like Beckham@ was a hit both in the U.S. and India, and she knows what it must have been like to be the main character, Jess Bhamra. She=s lived the same story, only the sport is different. By way of Bangalore, India, Battula came to the U.S. to pursue her dream of becoming, not a soccer player, but a jockey. She knew that could not be done in her country because women are not accepted on the racetrack there. AA lot of people compare me to the character in that movie, that my story is just like >Bend it Like Beckham.= It=s the same back home,@ Battula said. A GUIDE FOR OWNERS & TRAINERS TUESDAY 30 JULY – SATURDAY 3 AUGUST 2019 THE QATAR GOODWOOD FESTIVAL Welcome To Goodwood Proudly boasting an illustrious history and heritage, Goodwood is an inspirational and unique venue that has often been described as the world’s most beautiful racecourse. I am delighted that the continuing success of the Qatar Goodwood Festival has culminated in further race upgrades, most notably The Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes, upgrading to Group 2 status last year. Goodwood has, for more than 200 years, been about the best racing in the most English of settings, accessible to everyone. Our partnership with Qatar has enabled us to significantly increase the prize money on offer this and it is, as always, key for us that this new money does not just sit at the top end but trickles down to the grassroots of the entire race programme. Royalty, celebrities, sporting heroes, statesmen and diplomats have all enjoyed visiting Goodwood. It now gives me great pleasure to invite some of the very best overseas owners and trainers to be a part of this truly great horseracing Festival and join our ambition to become the best race week experience in the world. The Duke of Richmond and Gordon Owner of Goodwood Over £5million in prize money will be awarded over five thrilling days at Goodwood Racecourse from 30 July – 3 August 2019 The Qatar Goodwood Festival, now in its fifth year, has established itself as one of the most competitive and entertaining weeks in the international racing calendar. Including the increase in prize money for the upgraded Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes the total prize purse for the Festival now exceeds £5.5million and no race will be run for less than £25,000.
