Comfortdelgro Corporation Target Price: SGD1.98 Price: SGD2.02 North East Line Transitions to NRFF Market Cap: USD3,311M Bloomberg Ticker: CD SP Company Update Singapore 15 February 2018 Transport | Road & Rail Neutral (Maintained) ComfortDelGro Corporation Target Price: SGD1.98 Price: SGD2.02 North East Line Transitions To NRFF Market Cap: USD3,311m Bloomberg Ticker: CD SP ComfortDelGro’s North East MRT line (NEL) will operate under the NRFF Share Data from Apr 2018. While ComfortDelGro has stopped disclosing the segmental revenue and operating profit for its rail business in Singapore, a quick back-of-the-envelope calculation suggests that capping of NEL’s EBIT margins at 5% under the NRFF could lower its EBIT by 3-4% over the licence period. We have factored in the realisation of cash from the sale of operating assets to the LTA over three years, and lowered our EBIT margin estimates for the public transport business accordingly. NEUTRAL. The transition to NRFF further weakens its near-term earnings growth outlook, which continues to be weighed down by a weak taxi business in Singapore. We lower FY18F-20F earnings by 2-3% to account for the lower EBIT margin for NEL operations. Given the lack of re-rating catalysts, we maintain our NEUTRAL rating, with a revised DCF-derived TP of SGD1.98. Another common feature is that the systems are automated and can be operated without drivers.

    OUTSTANDING OVERSEAS EXECUTIVE OF THE YEAR 2017 Jaspal Singh, 64 CEO ComfortDelGro (UK and Ireland) PERSONAL BACKGROUND Mr Jaspal Singh was appointed CEO, ComfortDelGro (UK and Ireland) in October 2004 to lead, manage and grow ComfortDelGro’s operations in the UK and Ireland. The largest business in his portfolio is Metroline Limited, which Mr Singh leads as CEO. Metroline is London’s 2nd largest bus operator, operating nearly 20% of Greater London’s scheduled bus mileage, mainly in North, West and Central London and in the county of Hertfordshire. Besides Metroline, Mr Singh also leads ComfortDelGro’s taxi, private hire, coach and bus operations in England, Wales, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland. Prior to his appointment, Mr Singh was an Administrative Service Officer in the Singapore Government, where he served in various capacities at the Ministries of Transport, Trade & Industry and Finance over a period spanning 27 years. Mr Singh’s last appointment prior to his retirement from the public sector was Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Transport. Mr Singh also held various board-level appointments on Statutory Boards, GLCs and SMU over his tenure as a public servant. Page 1 Mr Singh grew up in Kuala Lumpur where he studied at the Batu Road Primary School and the Victoria Institution. A Singapore Colombo Plan scholar, he holds degrees in economics and industrial engineering from the University of Newcastle, Australia.
