  • Spitfire Mk.Ixc Late Version 8281 BRITISH WWII FIGHTER 1:48 SCALE PLASTIC KIT
Spitfire Mk.IXc late version 8281 BRITISH WWII FIGHTER 1:48 SCALE PLASTIC KIT intro In September 1941, a hitherto unknown German radial engine fighter appeared in the west European sky. The new airplane was superior to British fighters, most distressingly to the Spitfire Mk.V. The German design was soon recognized as the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A. The losses suffered by the RAF over western Europe rose rapidly and the crisis was serious enough that the RAF ceased the majority of daytime operations in November, 1941. The next attempt to resume these types of sorties was made in March 1942. Loss rates remained unacceptably high and the RAF was forces to stop ops once again. All this was thanks to the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A. The first response to the new German weapon was the Spitfire Mk.VIII, but the design changes were so complex that initiating timely production was not possible. In June, 1942, a German pilot landed by mistake on a British airfield delivering a completely intact Fw 190 fighter into RAF hands. Comparative trials between the Focke- Wulf and Spitfire Mk.V began almost immediatelly. These mock encounters confirmed the situation over the front – the chances of a British fighter surviving an encounter with the Fw 190 were slim. The only British fighter aircraft deemed suitable to oppose them were the Spitfire Mk. VII and VIII powered by the Merlin 61 engine. As mentioned above these were some time away of being ready for series production. But there was another way of getting a powerful fighter quickly - by mating the Merlin 61, with its two-stage supercharger, with the fuselage of the Spitfire Mk.Vc.

Turzovčania na bojiskách 1.a 2. svetovej vojny Leto roku 1914 vstúpilo do histórie 20. storočia vojnovým konfliktom ktorý zasiahol generáciu našich dedov a pradedov, ktorá dovtedy nezažila taký veľký otriasajúci úder ako vypuknutie prvej svetovej vojny. Dňa 28. júna 1914 v Sarajeve spáchali atentát na následníka habsburského trónu arcikiežaťa Františka Ferdinanda a jeho manželku kňažnu Žofiu Chotkovú Atentát pripravili a vykonali členovia študentskej frakcie „ Zjednotenie alebo smrť „ veľkosrbskej nacionalistickej dôstojníckej organizácie „Čierna ruka“. Atentát vykonali študenti Gavrilo Princip, Trifko Grabež a typograf Nedelko Gabrinovič počas provokačnej inšpekčnej cesty Františka Ferdinanda do Bosny – Hercegoviny v súvislosti s letnými manévrami rakúsko-uhorskej armády.

  • Slovak Air Force Today
DUTCH AVIATION SUPPORT Pilot & Airplane August 2003 SLOVAK AIR FORCE TODAY SLOVAK AIR FORCE TODAY Today Slovak Air Force tries to be an updated air force with the aim to be fully compatible with western air forces in the Nato-structure. Although not a member of this organisation yet it hopes to enter the Nato in future after political agreements. Slovakia is integrated in the Partnership for Peace (PfP) exercises and is eager to learn expertise from the other participants, especially the western counterparts in Europe like in the recently Cooperative Key exercises at St. Dizier air base in France. This exercise comprised actions like medical evacuation and CSAR (Combat Search and Rescue) under cooperation of United Nations flag in peacekeepingoperations. Already before the Slovak air Force was requested to join UN-operations and stationed 2 Mi-17 helicopters in Banja Luka, Bosnia until replaced by a Czech unit. The inventory of the Slovak Air Force consist of aircraft made in Russia or former Czechoslovakia. Also the structure of the air force inherited at the time the Czech Republic and Slovakia split up in 1993 was of the typical Russian Air Regiments. Slovakia then faced a modernisation period with transfer of squadrons, disbandment of squadrons and withdrawal of some aircraft from active duty. The structure was transformed to western-style Air Wings and aircraft were to be integrated in western Air Operationalability Procedures. Therefore money was reserved to change and improve the avionics of the planes to western standards (for example from Glonass satellite navigation to GPS). This proces is still under progress, yet not fully implemented and compatability is still limited (aircraft are partly Nato-standards and partly ICAO-standards) but this aspect will get the attention it needs in future.
