Michigan is home to more than 488 businesses and organizations participating in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR program: 27 manufacturers of ENERGY STAR certified products 24 companies supporting independent certification of ENERGY STAR products and homes 39 companies building ENERGY STAR certified homes, one of which is committed to building 100% ENERGY STAR

as well as many businesses, school districts, governments, and faith-based groups using ENERGY STAR resources to reduce energy waste in their facilities.

Across the state of Michigan 4,272,951 customers are served by ENERGY STAR utility partners 15,390 homes have earned the ENERGY STAR One Detroit Center, Detroit, MI 13,366 buildings (more than 1 billion square feet) have been benchmarked ENERGY STAR Certified in 2014 using EPA’s ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager 989 buildings have earned the ENERGY STAR for superior efficiency, including 434 schools, 10 hotels, 7 hospitals, State Spotlights 141 office buildings, and 3 industrial plants Grede, an iron castings manufacturer based in Southfield, has improved the energy intensity of its operations six percent since 2012, taking the ENERGY STAR Challenge for Industry at 13 Recent Partner of the Year Winners plants and requiring all of its plants to implement relevant energy efficiency opportunities in the ENERGY STAR Energy Guide for Cobblestone Homes Metal Casting. Consumers Energy Enersafe Company achieved a 10-percent reduction in energy use per vehicle at its U.S. manufacturing facilities in 2016 Ford Motors when compared to 2015, saving more than $10 million and also GM earning ENERGY STAR certification at 15 GM buildings and two Grede assembly plants.
