4TH DAY IS MOLAS - PULA - ANCIENT CITY OF NORA - IS MOLAS Departure (B/L/-)

Breakfast in the hotel. Today will involve just a few kilometres travel but we will be exploring and learning about one of ’s most important archaeological sites. 8:30 am departure from the resort on our way to Nora Beach where we encounter one of Sardinia’s most important archaeological sites, a prosperous city, initially Phoenician, then Carthaginian, and finally a very important Roman city, a jewel handed down to us across three millennia. THE ANCIENT CITY OF NORA It was the first Phoenician city in Sardinia (8th century BC), a trading hub, and an enviably located port, in the isthmus of Capo Pula, from where you could sail with any wind. Nora, fully developed in the 4th century BC under Punic rule, was conquered by the Romans in 238 BC and in the first century AD became a municipium. In the following two centuries, it experienced its greatest splendour: Urban growth and 8000 inhabitants, as well as being caput viae, the starting point of all the island’s roads. All that remains of the flourishing city are the fascinating ruins in the archaeological park of Pula, a few minutes from the tourist resort, and exhibits in the Patroni museum. Return to the hotel for 12:30 pm. Buffet lunch at the resort. Departure flights.
