The National Philharmonic of Russia (NPR) was founded in January 2003. From the very beginning it has become a symbol of the new Russia that has raised his head proudly after a deep crisis.

The Orchestra is headed by Maestro Vladimir Spivakov, a world-known violinist and conductor. The orchestra brings together the topmost musicians from St. Petersburg and Moscow, the musical elite of Russia. Along with Vladimir Spivakov, the National Philharmonic of Russia has been collaborating with such sought-after maestros as , Antonia Pappano, James Conlon, Ken-David Masur, , , Otto Tausk, Simon Gaudenz, Alexander Vedernikov, Tugan Sokhiev, Christian Thielemann, Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Jan Latham-Koenig, John Nelson, Vladimir Yurovsky, , Okko Kamu and others.

During past years the NPR has performed with many outstanding artists, such as Jessye Norman, Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras, , Dmitry Hvorostovsky, Maria Gulegina, Juan Diego Florez, Matthias Goerne, Waltraud Meier, Ferruccio Furlanetto, Marcelo Alvarez, Ramon Vargas, Violeta Urmana, , , Hilary Hahn, Anne-Sophia Mutter, Leonidas Kavakos, Maxim Vengerov, Joshua Bell, Laurent Korcia, cellists Natalia Gutman, , Andras Schiff, Maurizzio Pollini, Igor Levit, Marc-Andre Hamelin a.o.

Another important objective of the Orchestra is supporting young gifted musicians and providing appropriate conditions for their professional and artistic growth. For this reason the NPR works closely together with international Vladimir Spivakov Foundation.

The Orchestra has toured extensively over the CIS countries and the Baltic countries, in Europe, the USA, and Japan as well as in China. In 2010-2015 Sony Music released several NPR’s CD’s with music of Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Rimsky-Korsakov, Grieg.

Since July 2004 NPR is « orchestra in residence » at the international Festival Colmar with 7-10 concerts. Furthermore the orchestra is regularly invited to acclaimed festivals like the Rheingau Musikfestival, Kissinger Sommer, George Enescu Festival. In October and November 2018 the NPR is again on tour with 24 concerts all over Europe. For the upcoming years more tours in USA and Asia and new recordings are planned. As of: October 2018
