Paul Fix is an American racecar driver based in Williamsville, New York, U.S. He has been competing in the SCCA Professional Trans Am Road Racing Series since 2000. Paul possesses an unequaled blend of engineering knowledge, mechanical expertise, driving talent and iron determination. Fix began racing in amateur competitions in Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Solo II events in the late 1980s and subsequently started entering series sanctioned by the SVRA and the Historic Sportscar Racing Ltd (HSR). He has a winning history in both series. Fix started his professional racing career in 2000, participating in SCCA Pro Racing Trans Am Series. 12 In addition to the Trans Am Series, Fix has also participated in vintage and historic competitions since 1992 and GT Racing since 1999. More than a victory in the winner’s circle, Fix established a new course record time for the Trans Am Series at Lime Rock. Fix led every lap of the Lime Rock circuit, 67 laps, and won the race by several seconds. Lime Rock Park Track Record 16 For 2014, Paul Fix brought a serious case of momentum and the decisively potent No. 4 StopFlex.com Chevrolet Corvette to Virginia International Raceway. As a result, Fix continued his dominance of every on-track session, concluding with a second overall win in as many weeks. En route to his latest win, Fix established a new VIR track record. Fix’s eventual margin of victory over the rest of the field was nearly 8 seconds. At one point in the 31 lap event, Fix pulled out to a 13 second gap back to the second place car. These images cover IMSA Camel GT Championship and support races, Trans-Am Series races, CART races, and various SCCA races from 1963 through 2005. Notable venues include Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Daytona International Speedway, Watkins Glen Circuit, Lime Rock Park, and Road Atlanta. Also included are CD-roms, official racing programs, race results, entry lists, qualifying results, media guides, and newspaper clippings. These documents also include drive information, schedules, maps, and personal notes taken during the races. The Geoffrey Hewitt photographs, circa 1963-2005 slides, negatives, and transparencies were digitized and are available on the Revs Digital Library (http://stanford.io/2stlImD). Language: Materials are in English. Biography: Geoffrey Hewitt was a prominent motorsports photographer and lifelong car enthusiast. Born in 1943 in Washington D.C., he lived in Maryland for nine years before moving to Ohio. Hewitt married in 1978 and frequently toured with his wife, Mary, to photograph car races and the people involved in them. He began selling his photographic art in the 1970s, and continued into the 2000s. He is known for his unique lighting conditions, exceptional angles, and shutter speeds.
