I would like to dedicate it to all the persons with disabilities who lost their lives, who became ill, or who spent long weeks and months isolated due to COVID-19. You will not be forgotten. We will also never forget 2020. Even as we publish our 2020 Annual Report, halfway through 2021, persons with disabilities in Europe and around the world are fighting for their lives, their safety and their livelihoods as COVID-19 still ravages our communities, our cities and towns, our health services and our economies. Our Annual Report tells you who we are and what we achieved in 2020. I encourage you to also consult our website, where all of our work is reported in more detail. You can also download our new Human Rights Report on COVID-19 and persons with disabilities. I would like to thank all our members for working tirelessly in 2020. I would also like to thank our partners and supporters for their collaboration during this period. No one was prepared for a pandemic. However, the disability movement reacted bravely and strongly. In spite of the challenges 2020 threw at us, in 2020 we at EDF continued our work, our collaboration and our advocacy. As we look to the future, the disability movement needs to be strong, diverse and united to ensure that recovery from COVID-19 is inclusive. Let’s make “Nothing about us without us” a reality for all of us. We will work together to rebuild a more diverse, thriving and inclusive Europe. Annual Report 2020 7 CHAPTER 2 Who we are The European Disability Forum defends the interests of over 100 million persons with disabilities living in Europe. We are an umbrella organisation of persons with disabilities, created in 1996 to ensure that decisions at European level concerning persons with disabilities are taken with and by persons with disabilities. We have 4 committees that are established for 4 years and include a mid-term review. Human Rights and Non-Discrimination Committee It ensures that national and European leaders are closely involved in and fully informed about our work on human rights, equality, non- discrimination and particularly on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). Social Policy and Inclusion Committee It contributes to EDF’s work on social and employment policy and supports its members by providing expertise on social rights, including the right to work and employment, social protection and full inclusion in society. Women’s Committee It mainstreams gender in all EDF policies and documents, in order to raise awareness on the situation of women and girls with disabilities and to work towards the inclusion of women and girls with disabilities in society. Youth Committee Its role is to ensure that EDF’s work takes into account the perspective of young people with disabilities, but also represents young people with disabilities in both EDF and external events. The Employment and Social Affairs Committee will debate the impact of COVID-19 restrictions on workers’ mobility, particularly for contract workers and cross-border workers, with Croatian Minister of Labour and Pension System Aladrović, Jobs and Social Rights Commissioner Schmit and Interim Executive Director of the European Labour Authority Curell Gotor (Tuesday). Future of EU tourism. The proposed package on tourism and transport, which includes guidelines on how EU countries could gradually lift travel restrictions, allow businesses to reopen and people to enjoy safely their holidays this summer, will be debated in the Transport and Tourism Committee (Thursday). WHO/COVID-19 outbreak in developing countries. The Development Committee will discuss with Dr Michael Ryan, Executive Director, WHO Health Emergencies Programme, on COVID-19 outbreak in developing countries and its impact on the international humanitarian and development response (Friday).

L’Académie a ouvert ses portes eaux troubles. Durant les deux premières phases – l’après-guerre et l’après-effondrement de l’Union soviétique – le chemin en novembre 2017 et propose depuis un parcours de formation modulable en fonction du public. La crise financière de 2008 a mis fin au mythe d’une croissance économique infinie, flexion et d’action sur le projet européen, sa genèse, son histoire, sa géographie et son actualité mais aussi des focus sur remettant anthropologiquement en question le dogme d’ouverture sur lequel la mondialisation et l’intégration européenne des thématiques plus théoriques et transversales sur la démocratie, la place de la société civile, de l’opinion publique ou avaient prospéré jusqu’alors. Ces épreuves économiques ont mis en lumière d’importantes fractures entre les gagnants les liens entre citoyens et institutions de l’UE.

    Youth and European Social Work Forum - Encouraging young people YES Forum 2017 Policy Event Brussels, 23-24 November “Reconciling the European project with youth – An open dialogue” REPORT Even though the socio-economic situation in the European Union has been improving, a crucial issue remains to be solved in order to secure the long term prospects of the EU: the “widened gap among youth” which has not left the European public scene for a decade. Despite new European Union initiatives for youth, 57% of young Europeans still report feeling excluded from economic and social life1. This widening gap among youth represents a major blunt for the EU itself: an increasing proportion of youth, which the EU still fails to reach, is losing interest in, or turning its back to the European project and its values. This trend, if left unsolved, may very well prove fatal to the European Union in the long-term. That is why the YES Forum organised its 2017 Policy Event in Brussels on 23rd November under the theme “Reconciling the European project with youth – An open dialogue”. Through this event, practitioners from the youth field, young people themselves and EU policy and decision-makers could share their respective views on the best way forward in the promotion of a more inclusive European Union for youth. On 24th November, these discussions were followed by reflexions by YES Forum member and partner organisations focused on the future of the YES Forum, and its roles in overcoming the current challenges in the field of youth.
