That marked the end of an era for a leadership style of creative entrepreneurship, which harmonized vision and action delicately; with many pioneering steps. Dr Panda cherished his vision and dreams and IMFA was a blue print of his soul; which he was passionately protective about. As a mentor leader, Dr Panda persuaded most to believe in self caliber, motivating many to leadership responsibilities; which has set a human MEMORIUM resource benchmark for the Ferro Alloy industry in the country. Its end of an era of a life story, which has left behind an incredible legacy of integrated ferro alloys business of international stature, where commercial excellence is as important as contributing to social stability and progress.

HOMAGE TO DR BANSIDHAR PANDA End of an era: Last journey of Dr Bansidhar Panda to Madhuban Considered as the architect of modern industrial revolution in , noted industrialist and founder and chairman Emeritus of IMFA, Dr Bansidhar Panda passed away at his Bhubaneswar residence on 22 May 2018 at the age of 87. Many eminent personalities paid tributes to Dr Bansidhar Panda at his residence. His mortal remains were taken to his native village Madhuban under Barang block of Cuttack district. His mortal remains was consigned to flames in presence of thousands of bereaved admirers and village fraternity. alankar 3

HSE Workshop across IMFA Sri Debi Prasad Acharya, GM and Head, HSE and Compliance conducted HSE workshop for middle level executives across IMFA. This workshop was intended to drive involvement and commitment of all stakeholders particularly junior employees for improvement in safety performance with the participants acting like change agents. The workshop was interactive and concluded with agreed improvement action plans.

Providing Angle support between pallets to reduce breakage of bricks in Fly ash brick plant Fly ash bricks after moulding, kept on pallets and stacked in six layers for shifting and curing. While shifting to yard by forklift, it was observed that the bottom most bricks are getting broken due to total load on bottom bricks. After modification by putting angle plate at the corner to create a gap between bricks and pallets, total load came to angle plates instead of bricks. Hence breakage was eliminated BEFORE AFTER during shifting. SPECTRUM First LDA export from IMFA: CDR The First LDA export of 351 MT, packed in HDPE bags and stuffed in 20 ft containers from IMFA, Choudwar was made on 29th May 2018 from Vizag Port to Jebel Ali Port, UAE. IMFA participates in a conference - Climate Change Initiatives-Key Issues & Challenges for Industries A Conference on “Climate Change Initiatives-Key Issues & Challenges for Industries” was organized by ICC in collaboration with SPCB on 8th June 2018 in Bhubaneswar. Sri Sudam Barik, DGM (HSE & Compliance) had given the presentation on the topic 'Climate Change Initiatives in Ferro Alloys Sector during technical session. Dr D K Behera, Senior Environment Engineer,SPCB felicitated Sri Sudam Barik for best presentation. Felicitation to IMFA mines : SMC & MMC IMFA mines felicitated by Indian Red Cross, Jajpur District for the contribution towards the society. Mr. Jagan Mohan Mallick, Sr. Manager – PR received the award and certificate from the collector, Jajpur on behalf of IMFA mines. ANOTHER FEATHER IN THE CAP Sri Sudam Barik bags Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering Sri Sudam Barik, DGM (HSE & Compliance) got the Ph.D. degree from PUNE University. His research topic was “Removal of Lead (II) & Chromium (VI) from Waste Water using Dolochar as Absorbent : A Case study on removal of Chromium (VI) and other Pollutants to make POTABLE WATER from Damsala Nala, contaminated due to mines runoff water of Sukinda Valley (Odisha)”.

5th Shambhavi Puraskar awarded to Sri Santosh Kumar Moharana The prestigious Shambhavi Puraskar 2018 was conferred on Sri Santosh Kumar Moharana from Paralakhemundi of Gajapati District. Sri Moharana received the award from Chief Guest Sri Subroto Bagchi, Chairman, Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA) in Bhubaneswar on 21st April ‘18. The recipient Sri Santosh Kumar Moharana who is visually impaired has played a transformational role in the upliftment of differently-abled persons by bringing them to the mainstream in Paralakhemundi of Gajapati District. By rendering selfless services through his organization 'Samarth', set up in 2007, Shri Moharana has mobilized 1964 differently abled persons into 164 SHGs in Gajapati district, spurring them on to livelihood enterprises like phenyl & paper plate making, selling vegetables, opening grocery shops, mobile repairing, bangle shops etc. He has played the role of a beacon in their lives of darkness. Shambhavi Puraskar, an annual award, carries a citation along with a cash prize of INR 2.5 lakhs. This year BIPF introduced the “Shambhavi Jury Commendation Certificate“to recognize an individual's wholehearted desire in serving humanity. This annual certificate carries a citation along with a cash prize of INR 50,000/-. Shri Bibhuti Kumar Ray, an auto driver by profession, uses his auto and the earnings from it to help ailing patients, robbed passengers and accident victims during distress. Playing the good samaritan in Cuttack town since 2006, Shri Ray has set up Savitri Janaseva in 2013 to spread the outreach of his social service. Sri Bagchi congratulated Mr Moharana and Mr Ray for their contribution to society and expressed his deep appreciation for BIPF for instituting the Shambhavi Puraskar act as a game changer in inspiring more people to be benevolent. Speaking on the occasion Ms Shaifalika Panda, CEO, BIPF said “The grit and determination of our Shambhavi Puraskar awardee this year is an example for people not just in social work but across sectors, life, and generations”. Prof Ghanashyam Dash Scholarship for 2017 The 13th edition of Prof Ghanashyam Dash Scholarship was awarded to six meritorious students from Odisha, pursuing professional degree courses in different disciplines. The selected students will get 90% of academic fees and related expenses for the entire duration of the course with an annual limit of Rs 1,00,000 /-.
