Chew outboard, receiving electricity, water and air from the dock, steam from U.S.S. Chew. Various units of U.S. Pacific Fleet, yard and district craft present with ComBatFor, SOPA in the U.S.S. California. 0340 Received 8 gallons of milk for use in the general mess from the Dairymen's Association Limited; Inspected as to quantity and quality by Ensign L.F. PLATT, USNR. /signed/ L.F. California, SOPA. 0345 Received from Dairymen's Association, 8 gallons of milk for use in the general mess; inspected as to quantity by Ensign D.B. Chew got underway from alongside and stood out. 0920 Made daily inspection of magazines and smokeless powder samples; conditions normal. 1100 Pursuant to Commanding Officer's order of December 2, 1941, MONDO, GJ. Sea1c, 410 26 92, (O-1), USNR, was transferred to Government Transportation for further transfer to West Coast of the United States, with baggage and transfer papers, for discharge from the Naval Service. 1110 Commanding Officer, U.S Allen, called officially on Commander, Destroyer Division EIGHTY. /signed/ D.B. Draft forward 9'00", draft aft 9'7". 0910 Lighted fires under boiler number 1. 1030 Completed fueling after receiving 715.2 barrels of Bunker "B" fuel oil from the Navy Yard, Pearl Harbor, T.H. Draft of ship forward 10'3", aft 10'6". Received 50 pounds whiting fish from M. Ontanie and Company. Inspected as to quantity by Ensign F.V. ANDREWS, USNR, and as to quality by BAXTER, G.A., CPhM(PA), USN. /signed/ F.V. Maneuvering on various courses and speeds conforming to the channel with the Captain at the Conn and the Navigator on the bridge. Average steam 250, average r.p.m. 60.7. /signed/ L.F.
