Box 742016 Dallas, TX 75374-2016 www.breastcancercanstickit.org www.facebook.com/breastcancercanstickit www.breastcancercanstickit.org/drummathon/ FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Calling All Drummers to “Stick It” to Breast Cancer: Breast Cancer Can Stick It! to Host Fundraising Drummathon Dallas, TX Oct. 5, 2015: Breast Cancer Can Stick It! will host a Drummathon on Oct. 25, 2015 from 10a-7p at the The Village Fountain (at The Village of Fairview) 329 Town Place, Fairview, TX, and is calling on all drummers both in DFW and across the country to participate in the fundraising event to help “stick it” to breast cancer. April Samuels, Founder of Breast Cancer Can Stick It! is a professional drummer and is a breast cancer survivor dedicating her energies to beating breast cancer. “I came up with the slogan “Breast Cancer Can Stick It! just a few weeks after my diagnosis five years ago. I decided then that I wanted to be the biggest advocate in the fight against breast cancer that I could be. I’m a drummer, so I like to make a lot of noise, which is exactly what we are doing!” said April Samuels, Breast Cancer Can Stick It! Founder. The Drummathon needs individual drummers of all ages and abilities to register and set up a fundraising page (instructions are on registration page) to get individual friends and family to support them for Drummathon. On the day of the event, registered drummers will have the opportunity to demonstrate what they’ve got. The participants will be a part of beating breast cancer as they play and show the world and celebrity rock stars their talent. At least 60 plus drummers have the opportunity to be a part of this event and be in the company of celebrity drummers Carmine Appice, Vinny Appice and Matt Starr - hailing from such groups as Rod Stewart, Ace Frehley, Black Sabbath, Ted Nugent, Ozzy Osbourne, and Mr. Big. Dan Shinder of Drum Talk TV will be emceeing, and they will also film this historic event for an upcoming Drum Talk TV exclusive documentary. Breast cancer seems to touch everyone, including the celebrity rockers who are participating in the Drummathon. "I like doing charity things and I had friends and cousins that had breast cancer. So I thought I'd join the fight,” said Carmine Appice. And Vinny Appice added, "Carmine and I have always had a fighting drum attitude and now together, we are fighting breast cancer." The registered drummers will play for five minutes each, alternating between two drum kits until all have played. Other registration packages include the Drum Circle, the Drum Circle Jr. (for 12 and under), and an Online Drumline for drummers who won’t be able to attend, or for non-drummers. Breast Cancer Can Stick It! hopes to bring in funds for continued breast cancer research and awareness to the public especially now during October which is Breast Cancer Awareness month. “Our goal is to fight breast cancer one beat, one drummer at a time during the Drummathon. It is going to be a ROCKIN’, EPIC event. We’re calling all drummers to come out and take part,” said Samuels. “I'm grateful to be joining April Samuels for this great cause and to be sharing the stage with the Appice brothers. While he never appeared on record with Black Sabbath he was briefly a member of Black Sabbath's touring band when he briefly replaced legendary Singer: Glenn Hughes in the band. Following his gig with Sabbath Gillen briefly worked w/Ex Thin Lizzy/Whitesnake Guitarist: John Sykes in Blue Murder but eventually Gillen left Blue Murder and formed BadLands w/Ex Ozzy Osbourne/Ratt Guitarist: Jake E. Lee. Badlands released two albums before Gillen decided to leave because of friction that developed between Lee and Gillen. After Ray Gillen's death BADLANDS released a 3rd and final album called DUSK which was an album's worth of material of unreleased studio outakes.

Joe Lynn Turner
JOE LYNN TURNER Joe Lynn Turner, is an American singer, known for his works with hard rock bands Deep Purple & Rainbow. Career In a career that spans nearly 30 years and includes over 60 album credits, Joe Lynn Turner ("JLT") remains one of rock and roll's most distinctive, soulful and expressive vocalists. Born August 2, 1951 in Hackensack, New Jersey (U.S.A.), he played the accordion as a child, grew up with an appreciation for classic Rhythm and Blues (R&B) and became an accomplished guitarist in his early teens. In fact, his first band, Filet of Soul, featured singer J.T. Taylor who would later have success with Kool and the Gang. While in high school, Joe formed Ezra, performing original material and cover songs by artists who were a great influence on him: Jimi Hendrix, Free and Deep Purple. In 1976, JLT enjoyed his first taste of national success with Fandango, a band described as an eclectic mix of R&B, pop, country, jazz and melodic rock. Turner sang and played guitar on all of the band's four albums. Fandango toured with numerous artists including The Allman Brothers, The Marshall Tucker Band, The Beach Boys and Billy Joel. After Fandango split, in the first of two incredible twists of Fate, JLT received a phone call from legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. Turner's work with Fandango prompted an audition and Blackmore was so impressed that he immediately enlisted Joe in Rainbow, a band that he formed after he left Deep Purple. Ironically, Joe spent his formative years covering Deep Purple songs and now he found himself fronting a band with two former members: Blackmore and Roger Glover.

Maybe the perfect words, spoken by rock ’n’ roll musi- cian, Michael Gerbino (more on him later) to describe the magic of a particular time and place — when you’re 20. But what happens when you’re 40? Or 50? Or even older? Though your kids might be nearly full-grown, they might also still live at home, so maybe living the rock ’n’ roll fantasy isn’t the best idea. After all, you’re an adult now. You have a job, a stack of bills to pay, a life insurance policy, kids’ sports schedules to adhere to. But then the “becoming a rock star” dream you once had rears its head again, as powerful as ever.
