Up With Kids created the concept of “All Star Acting” in which we write our own scripts and adapt the plays so that there is a challenging part for every single student, with speaking lines and a personality to develop. Every performer is a STAR! Audition techniques are taught but there are never any tryouts. Up With Kids strives for a spirit of cooperation and teamwork rather than competition. Our curriculum and performances are always “G-rated” and family friendly. We celebrate family values. Up With Kids students are divided into three age groups to accommodate the varying stages of child development. All classes come together every spring for an annual recital.

38 | Winter/Spring 2020 ininini Pool Water Safety ininini n an effort to help prevent the spread of water borne illnesses and to better protect our patrons, the Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness CenterI has Ultraviolet (UV) disinfection systems for all of its pools. If bacteria or parasites are introduced into the pool, this equipment will kill 99.9% of them, including Cryptosporidium and others, once the water travels through the filtration system. The pool water will also be treated with chlorine, but less chlorine will be used. The use of UV light will greatly reduce the chances of users becoming ill from Cryptospo- ridium or other water borne illnesses.

In addition, the Salt Lake County Health Department has issued regula- tions that we ask our patrons to follow. These include: 1) Anyone with diarrhea or has had it in the past 2 weeks should not swim. 2) Do not ingest the pool water. 3) Everyone should take a cleansing shower with soap before entering the pool. 4) Children under 3, or anyone who is not potty trained, must wear a tight fitting swim diaper. 5) Wash hands with soap after using rest room or changing diapers. (Other restrictions may be enforced as necessary.) Chomper’s Swim Buddy

ALL Children 6 and under to be within arm’s reach of an adult 18 YEARS OR OLDER at ALL times in the water! Chomper’s Swim Buddy was designed as positive rule enforcement for our patrons and all children ages 6 and under. Our goal is to educate our community regarding swimming safety while also working to reduce accidents within our facility. t Whenever a child 6 years old & under enters the facility the parent, guardian, or chaperon 18 years of age or older will be given a “Chomper’s Swim Buddy” fluorescent yellow wristband to put on the child/children that are 6 years of age & under. t Children ages 6 years of age & under must visibly wear a “Chomper’s Swim Buddy” fluorescent yellow wristband. This wristband is used to better identify children ages 6 & under. If facility staff suspect a child is 6 years of age or under and is not wearing a Chomper’s Swim Buddy” wristband, staff members will educate the patron regarding the wristband policy. t The “Chomper’s Swim Buddy” and Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center rule is that ALL children 6 years of age & under must be accompanied in the water at all times and within arm’s reach of a parent, guardian, or chaperon 18 years of age or older. t “Chomper’s Swim Buddy” and Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center has a policy of a maximum adult ratio of 1 adult per 3 children 6 years of age & under, and a maximum adult ratio of 1 adult per 8 children 7-9 years of age. t Children 9 years of age & under must not be left unattended at any time in any area of the Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center.
