Duncan Jones ride on his father David Bowie’s shoulderOn Sunday evening, the horrible news was revealed on Bowie's Facebook page, showing “David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer”. While the news attracted broader attention from all over the world, the Warcraft director confirmed Bowie's passing to fans early Monday morning on his Twitter: “Very sorry and sad to say it’s true, I’ll be offline for a while. Love to all.” Along with the heart breaking words, Jones also shared a black-and-white image showing him ride on his daddy’s shoulder. This scene brings tears to our eyes and reminds many people of the director’ childhood.

According to Jones, he had a very tight-knit relationship with his father and they would Skype together almost constantly. During an interview with The Daily Mail back in 2011, Jones recalled his childhood that accompanied by his famous father. "I could hear the noise up front but I'd spend most of my time hanging out with the roadies and playing with them. You know those big crash cases that they put the equipment in? Big, thick metal boxes with foam padding, well, I'd stand inside one of them and get the roadies to push me around like I was in a go-kart," he added, "In many ways it was an incredible childhood. We traveled all over the world; we got to do some amazing things." The great director also told that it was his great father that gave him the support to find his feet and the confidence to do what he wants to do.
