GENERAL INFORMATION – DUBLIN LANGUAGE English is the primary language spoken in Ireland and in Dublin. Signposts are usually in both English and Irish. CURRENCY The currency is the euro and is exchangeable for all major currencies in banks and currency exchanges as well as ATM machines. PHARMACIES Chemists and pharmacies are marked by a green cross and are plentiful in the city centre and on most major streets. CITY CENTRE Dublin City Centre is relatively small for a city of its size and most key areas of the city centre are readily accessible on foot. There are several tourist information outlets in the city centre. VISITOR INFORMATION The official city website is www.visitdublin.com and hosts a number of downloadable visitor applications “apps” compatible with apple and android smartphones. VENUE The easiest way to get to No. 6 Kildare St on foot is by starting at College Green and following your way around the side of Trinity College. This is approximately a five minute walk. TRANSPORT AROUND DUBLIN Dublin Airport is located approximately 10 km north of Dublin city centre. It is served by a large number of buses, coaches and taxis all allowing you to get to and from the airport with ease. Dublin Bus offers many routes throughout Dublin, including an AirLink express bus to Heuston and Connolly Rail Stations. Passengers should follow Taxi signage to the designated taxi ranks. A taxi dispatcher is available at either taxi rank if you require any further information or assistance. A taxi to the city centre will cost approximately €28-€40. The journey time via taxi from Dublin Airport to the College in the city centre tends to vary from 30 to 45 minutes. Dublin Bikes Dublin bikes offer a bicycle rental scheme throughout the city centre. There are 44 stations distributed in close proximity to each other around Dublin city centre. At each station there is a terminal menu to offer users directions on how to rent and return a Dublin bike. Several bike stations have credit card terminals which allow customers to pay for bike rental for a relatively low cost and without taking out an annual subscription.
