INTRODUCTION Department of Hospital Management, Deccan School Management was established by Dar-Us-Salam Education Trust under the leadership of Late Alhaj Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi. Darussalam Educational Trust is one of the prominent Charitable Trust which focuses on education & health care .DET established first private Medical college i.e. Deccan college of Medical Sciences, in Andhra Pradesh. Other organizations established by the trust include Deccan College of Engineering & Technology, Owaisi Hospital & Research Centre, and Princess Esra Hospital. Deccan college of Pharmacy, Owaisi School Of Nursing & Deccan college of Physiotherapy. 1.1 Deccan School of Management. Deccan School Of Management was started in the year 1991, the year in which India ushered in economic reforms. DSM started with an MBA program me. In 1998 it started MHM Programme. 1.2 Vision, Mission and objectives The vision of the department is to develop into a premier academic institution of repute focusing on teaching research & consultancy. The mission is to bring out hospital managers who are sensitive to the societal needs. Objectives 1. To train students as future Hospital Administrators and Managers with appropriate knowledge, skills and attitude. 2. To conduct research in the area of health care & Hospital management. 3. To undertake consultancy in issues related to Hospital and health care. Dept. of Hospital Management, DSM 5 Information Brochure 2013-14 2. M.H.M. PROGRAMME. Department offers two years (4 semester) Master’s Degree in Hospital management (MHM). This programme is affiliated to Osmania University and approved by AICTE. 2.1 Eligibility. Graduation in any discipline with minimum 50% marks is eligible to apply for the course. Doctors and Para medical graduates are encouraged to apply. 2.2 Admission process Notification for the admission will be issued on 22 of April,2013. The last date of submission of application form is 18th may, 2013. Entrance will be conducted in Hyderabad only on 9.06.2013. Of the 60 seats available 30% i.e. 18 seats are allotted for management quota. Admission to 42 seats will be based on the performance of entrance test conducted by Osmania University. For admission to management quota, candidates need not necessarily qualify the entrance test. They can directly contact the Admission cell, Darussalam Educational Trust, Deccan College of Engineering and Technology premises, Aghapura, Nampally, Hyderabad-500 001. The college follows admission rules of Osmania University & DET. Application forms and ICR summary sheet can be obtained by submitting a DD for Rs.600/- ( six hundred rupees only) favoring “Dept. of Hospital Management(DSM) “, payable at Hyderabad from Admission Cell, Darussalam education trust, Darussalam, Nampally ,Hyderabad-500001 in person or by post. Alternatively application form and ICR summary sheet can be downloaded from the website www.dshm.co.in or www.osmania.ac.in . Filled in application form and ICR summary sheet along with other necessary documents can be sent along with the above D.D. to above-mentioned address. The entrance test paper is set for 100 marks, consisting of questions under sections (A) Test of reasoning, (B) Numerical Dept. of Hospital Management, DSM 6 Information Brochure 2013-14 ability, (C) English comprehension and usage, (D) Health and hospital knowledge, (E) Current Affairs 2.3. Fees: The tuition fees for the students who are admitted through Entrance Test, is Rupees One Lakh for the entire course. The fee is subject to modification by the fee fixation committee of Govt. of Andhra Pradesh. 2.4. Unique features of MHM program at Department of Hospital Management ,Deccan School of Management This is one of the few hospital management courses, which is approved by AICTE as well affiliated to a University. AICTE is the statutory body, which regulates technical education, including management programs in our country. But hardly handful of hospital management institutions in the country has AICTE approval. Though some institutions have AICTE approval, they don’t have University affiliation. In India only universities can award degree. So programs conducted by DHM, DSM has approval of AICTE(www.aicte.ernet.in) and affiliation of Osmania University,( www.osmania.ac.in) which gives tremendous value to the course not only in India but also abroad. 2.5 Scope of Hospital Management Programme. Health care is one of the fastest growing, recession free industries in our country. In India only one hospital bed is available for population of 1400, whereas WHO stipulates 1 bed for 350 people. New hospital projects are coming across the country and several existing ones are expanding their services. Several corporate houses like Fortis, Wockhardt, Reliance are venturing into hospital industry. Complexities in the running of the Hospital management have made it one of the challenging and sought after course. Today hospital industry is considered as a sunrise industry. A graduate of hospital management has enormous job opportunities in India and abroad. They can enter into hospital in various managerial positions. Today a large number of consultancies have opened that recruit hospital management graduates for their consultancy work. Many of the IT firms also recruit students for their hospital information system projects. Today several state governments are appointing postgraduates in hospital management from the level of district hospitals. Increasing competition, more demanding patients, legal hurdles, medical tourism, and consumerism in health care has made profession of hospital management highly demanding. 3. LEARNING RESOURCES 3.1. TELANGANA INTRODUCTION The social classes in the Muslim community, elitist character of the Indian politics and the domination, cultural or otherwise, of the upper strata in the political arena have given birth to a number of Muslim political parties and groups. These organizations are partly religious and partly political. For them religion is the source of their ideology and political programme. It is the biggest integral element of the so-called identity of the community. It would be wrong to say that entire Muslim leadership belongs to these organizations.     AIMIM’S ACHIEVEMENTS: ALL INDIA MAJLIS-E-ITTEHADUL MUSLIMEEN (AIMIM), which was revived in 1958, has been striving, all these years, to bring Muslim community on to a common platform, with the avowed objective of promoting their socio- economic and educational development and securing social, cultural, linguistic, religious, economic and political rights not only for Muslims but also for other underprivileged sections such as Dalits, Adivasis, OBCs and other religious minorities. Serving the people for almost six decades now, AIMIM has a long record of achievements to its credit. The Party has been waging struggles, conducting campaigns, organizing public meetings and lobbying with the governments to secure for the minorities their rights and to get benefits for them on par with other communities, namely, Dalits, Adivasis and OBCs. AIMIM has been exerting pressure on the successive governments in Andhra Pradesh and at the Centre to mete out justice and equity to the minorities in the State and the country. Right from Neelam Sanjiva Reddy, the first Chief Minister of (united) Andhra Pradesh to the last one, N Kiran Kumar Reddy, AIMIM, as a political party representing the hopes and aspirations of Muslim community and other under- privileged communities, lobbied with all the 16 successive CMs to deliver on their promises to the minorities, particularly Muslims. Many a time, the successive governments listened to AIMIM leadership and conceded most of their demands. At the Centre, successive Prime Ministers from Indira Gandhi to Dr Manmohan Singh respected AIMIM leadership and responded positively to their demands. CMs & PMs RESPOND TO AIMIM DEMANDS: AIMIM succeeded in compelling the successive governments to fulfil their constitutional obligations towards the minorities and to initiate measures for the protection of their linguistic, cultural and religious rights and for their educational, economic and social upliftment.

    Library Newsletter, January- February 2012. Late Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi’s first speech in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. MIM (Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen) was revived in March 1958. In 1959 one Corporator was elected in a bye election. In 1960 the MIM contested for 30 Municipal Corporation seats (out of a total of 64) and won 19. For the assembly elections in 1962 it fielded 8 candidates but won only one seat. This winning candidate was Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi (1936-2008), who won from Pattargatti constituency by defeating Masooma Begum of Congress. He was 26 at the time. In March 1962 the Second Assembly was reconstituted and Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi gave his first speech in the Assembly as an MLA on 22nd March 1962. This speech was interesting and important in many respects. Secular issues are dominant in his speech. He spoke about unemployment, Urdu, city development, election processes, national integration and criticized the police, ruling party and the government. He also responded to the criticism of the MIM and explained its purpose. The issues raised are still relevant. M.A.Moid Mr. Speaker Sir, the first thing in the Governor’s address concerns the elections. Some members said earlier that the elections were peaceful. However, all the members including the members of ruling party accepted the fact that fraud and malpractice have happened during elections; voters were stopped, and the misbehavior with burqa clad women was extremely immoral. All the papers, all political and non political parties have protested against this. Not only this, some of the acts committed are such that I would not like to mention them here.
