Every day, Black business owners and entrepreneurs make invaluable contributions to communities across the country, and their success is essential to Canada’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and future prosperity. Halifax Sport Heritage Walking Tour Self-Guided The Downtown Core Loop ◆ Walking time (non-stop): 50 minutes ◆ Recommended time: 2 hours◆ Difficulty: Easy-Medium The Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame was established by John “Gee” Ahern, Mayor of Halifax in the 1940s, as a response to Kingston, Ontario’s claimof being the birthplace of hockey. The Hall of Fame officially opened on November 3rd, 1964 and moved locations many times over the decades as it continued to grow. It moved to its current location adjacent to the Scotiabank Centre in 2006. Make sure you check out Sidney Crosby’s famous dryer and try your skills in the multi-sport simulator! Ahern Avenue is located between Citadel High School and Citadel Hill and was named after John “Gee” Ahern (below). Ahern was the mayor of Halifax from 1946 to 1949 and was also a member of the Nova Scotia Legislature. Ahern felt strongly that there should be recognition for Nova Scotia athletes. He initiated the formation of the Hall of Fame in 1958 and was later inducted in 1982 for his contributions to hockey, baseball and rugby in Nova Scotia. The Halifax Public Gardens opened in the The Wanderers Grounds were established 1840s and became the home of Canada’s in the 1880s and were once a part of the first covered skating rink in 1863, followed Halifax Commons. These grounds were by the first public lawn tennis court in the home to the Wanderers Amateur Athletic country in 1876. The gardens’ pond was a Club for rugby, lawn bowling and more. -

ANNUAL REPORT 2019-2020 TECHNICAL DIRECTOR Illusions Rhythmic Gymnastics Club was set to have another very successful competitive season before the global pandemic forced Nova Scotia Rhythmic Gymnastics Association (NSRGA) to cancel all sanctioned rhythmic gymnastics competitions, events and related activities on March 14, 2020. Illusions continued to offer training sessions online through ZOOM. Although the competitive season ended abruptly, we persevered and created an online training program that kept our athletes both physically and mentally connected, engaged and active in a time of upheaval and uncertainty. Our recreational and competitive programs were thriving before the pandemic hit. Illusions offered two recreational classes a week for the Fall and Winter terms. Competitive classes ran Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from September 2019 until March 14, 2020 when we were forced to shutdown. We continued to rent space at Bedford Hammonds Plains Community Center and West Halifax Cheer. The Illusions coaching staff welcomed back Kaylee Rawding and hired Ella Hickey, Kaleigh Baird and Riana Surovkin to help with our Shooting Star and Bright Star programs. Illusions officially welcomed Elizabet Belittchenko to our coaching staff this Fall. Liza was a 2018 Canadian National group member who competed at the 2018 World Championships. Jessica Fisher, Isidora Rojas, Delainey McCarron, Julia Belittchenko, Meghan Milloy and Josée Landry returned for the 2019-2020 season. As part of our Capella mentor program, Capella athletes helped coach our recreational classes and our Bright Star & Shooting star classes. Our Capella athletes excelled as junior coaches and we plan to continue to develop the mentor program next season. -

Title: Account Executive (Full-time) Department: Ticket Sales Supervisor: Vice President, Ticket Sales Location: Duluth, GA (Metro Atlanta) Job Description REQUIREMENTS: One (1) or more years of previous experience in sales is required* EXPECTATIONS: The Account Executive position within the Georgia Swarm Ticket Sales Department will be vital in selling all inventories including, but not limited to, group tickets, memberships, corporate programs, and premium seating. Account Executives are required to work in a fast-paced environment with a major focus on phone prospecting and community outreach events. These positions will achieve their goals through qualified leads, cold calls, prospecting, LinkedIn, networking, and face-to-face meetings. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: • Sell group outings, memberships, premium seating tickets, and corporate programs (B2B) • Create, build, and manage pipeline of prospective clients in all sales categories with the focus on building relationships and closing business while servicing current accounts. • Meet and exceed the necessary outbound call efforts (45+ per day) and face-to-face/virtual meetings (3+ per week) to achieve established weekly, monthly, and annual sales goal • Surpass the established sales goals set by management. • Grow fan knowledge of the Swarm experience. • Prioritize tasks meet and exceed daily expectations • Obtain a firm understanding and knowledge base of Swarm pricing and seat locations. • Work within the Swarm’s CRM system (Salesforce & KORE) and ticketing system (AXS) to maintain records of all accounts and prospects. • Available for all Swarm home games and other team-related networking and community events as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: • College degree required. • Possess strong communication skills both on the phone and in-person. -
A Guide to Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA)
A Guide to Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) Overview: Originally launched on April 9, 2020, CEBA is intended to support businesses by providing financing for their expenses that cannot be avoided or deferred as they take steps to safely navigate a period of shutdown, thereby helping to position businesses for successful relaunch when the economy reopens. This $55 billion program provides interest-free loans of up to $40,000 to small businesses and not-for-profits. Repaying the balance of the loan on or before December 31, 2022 will result in loan forgiveness of 25 percent (up to $10,000). As of June 26, 2020, businesses eligible for CEBA now include owner-operated small businesses that do not have a payroll, sole proprietors receiving business income directly, as well as family-owned corporations remunerating in the form of dividends rather than payroll. This means that more small businesses can access it. Applicants with $20,000 or less in payroll in 2019 will have to demonstrate having Eligible Non-Deferrable Expenses between Cdn.$40,000 and Cdn.$1,500,000 in 2020. Expenses are considered “Eligible Non-Deferrable Expenses” if they were already incurred in January and/or February 2020, or are due to a legal or contractual obligation as at March 1 and cannot be avoided or deferred beyond 2020 even during a period of shut down and depressed revenues as a result of COVID. CEBA is not intended to provide income support, or support for variable operating expenses to businesses. CEBA applicants agree that the government may conduct audits to confirm the nature of the expenses applicants use to establish their eligibility for CEBA, and acknowledge that inaccuracies may lead to legal consequences.
