PROMOTION OF SHGS under SHPI SARDA has been promo ng SHGs under SHPI add on ac vity program of NABARD. These SHGs are promoted among poor and marginalized rural women. Women are mobilized to form SHG Ins tu ons of their own. These SHGs are then provided training on basic orienta on and capacity building for effec ve func oning of the group. These are facilitated for the linkage with banks for Savings and Credit assistance. The women members are provided training on various Livelihood ac vi es and support for procurement of raw materials and sale of the products. TEJASWINI RURAL WOMEN EMPOWERENT PROJECT Women are now more aware about the importance of saving, bank loan; proper u liza on and repayment of bank loan, etc. SHG members are engaged in various income genera on ac vi es. 300 women beneficiaries started their livelihood ac vi es through Lac cul va on and 220 beneficiaries are engaged in prac cing SRI technology for paddy cul va on. Others are engaged in agriculture, pickle and papad making ac vity, etc.
SARDA has been implemen ng Tejaswini Rural Women Empowerment Project in Kirnapur and Lanji Blocks of Balaghat District of Madhya Pradesh with the support of Madhya Pradesh Mahila Vi a Vikas Nigam. The project is aimed for integrated development of women in the targeted area. Under the project, SARDA has promoted 432 Women SHGs comprising of 5797 women members. These SHGs are provided basic conceptual modules of training including leadership, group dynamics, group management and book keeping. All the SHGs are linked with banks. Regular mee ng and internal savings and lending is ensured among each of the group. These groups are provided training on various Income Genera on ac vi es including vegetable produc on, goatery, piggery, poultry, SRI, papad and pickle making, etc. Each of the women is linked with certain livelihood ac vi es.

PROMOTION OF JOINT LIABILITY GROUPS These SHGs are further organized into Federa on where 108 Village Level Commi ees of these SHGs are formed and involved. These CBOs are provided handholding support regarding func onality and management. Now, SARDA has handed over the charge of the SHGs to the Federa on completely and all the ac vi es are being carried out by the beneficiaries themselves. JLGs are promoted of 4 to 5 likeminded beneficiaries of the similar types of venture planned or business ac vity. Members of the JLGs offered a joint undertaking to the bank that enables them further to avail bank loans. Group cohesion has been ensured. JLGs are serving as a conduit for technology transfer, facilita ng for common access to market informa on, training and technology dissemina on. Banks are assessing the credit requirement based on ac vity undertaken in the group or on the credit absorp on capacity of individuals of the JLGs. These groups are ac ng effec vely and repaying the bank loan without being default borrowers. SARDA has been promo ng JLGs in different intervened areas in various state across different Livelihood ac vi es. Altogether 820 JLGs are promoted. Most of the JLGs are working on agriculture and allied ac vi es.

RURAL INNOVATION PROJECTS SARDA is making many innova ons in the local rural areas as per the need of the area. These new prac ces are a blending of indigenous knowledge, local availability of materials, local need and new scien fic tools. SARDA has been making different ini a ves, with support of NABARD, which are replicated in other parts of the world as per the requirement. In the current year, three different Innova ve projects are installed by us. One of the programs is to address the problem of irriga on of to the agriculture field where electricity is not available. For such area solar PV based pumping system is installed which is irriga ng 20 hectors of the agriculture land without using electricity or diesel. In another interven on, we are promo ng Brood Lac resource Centre in the area which is having high poten al for lac produc on and processing. Third interven on is the produc on of bio fer lizer from water chest nut. Our earlier innova ons as use of agro waste for the produc on of electricity in un-electrified village has changed the picture of the village and the project is being replicated in many areas and our current interven ons are the visions of future development programs. PROMOTION OF BIO GAS FOR COOKING AND LIGHTING SARDA is promo ng Bio Gas Units of 6 cum each among 15 beneficiaries in 5 villages of Patratu Block of Ramgarh District. The beneficiaries are ini ally provided exposure visit to Aurangabad for live demonstra on of the produc on and use of Bio Gas for cooking and ligh ng. The beneficiaries then ac vely par cipated for the promo on of Bio Gas Unit. 15 beneficiaries are selected which are having ca le for the produc on of Dung. Intensification of Crops: THROUGH SWI & SRI Our agriculture is in the need of increase in the produc vity from the same plot but with lesser inputs. There are many tested agricultural prac ces of the same. These prac ces of System of Wheat Intensifica on and System of Rice Intensifica on are transferred to farmers by SARDA. We have trained as many as 210 farmers in five villages. The beneficiaries are mobilized and trained on the subject. They are exposed to many successful sites. Inputs and implements for the cul va on are provided to the farmers without any cost. On- farm demonstra on on the technology adop on viz. UMBRELLA PROGRAM ON NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT SARDA is implemen ng the Umbrella Program for Natural Resource Management for the promo on of Dairy and Mushroom with support of NABARD. The program is aimed to reduce the grant dependency of the beneficiaries and making the development ac vi es related to NRM sustainable by ensuring the full ownership of the individual beneficiary. Beneficiaries are provided with support for Capacity Building and Training for NRM based livelihood genera on ac vity. They are also provided exposure to the successful sites of implementa on of the ac vity. Then, a loan amount is provided to the beneficiary for the procurement of raw materials and cri cal inputs which they need to pay back with interest. SWACCHHA BHARAT ABHIYAN Cleanliness has always been the prime target of our interven ons. We have been promo ng toilet construc on and sanita on in different part of the country. We are focussing more on the so ware part of the Swacch Bharat through mobiliza on work. We have organized various Awareness Camps, Rallies in different areas. We have mobilizing the mass towards the sanita on during public gathering especially during Gram Sabha. It is our focus to include a subject on cleanliness in any of the address to the mass. SARDA'S INITIATIVES
SARDA AGRO TOURISM CENTRE (SATC) SARDA has been working for the promo on of NRM Based Livelihood for the marginalized people. A proper blending of the latest tools and techniques with the indigenous method and knowledge could lead to decrease in over exploita on of resources and maximiza on of produc vity. The products in these methods are also organic in nature. Such products could be grown by the farmers a er training and capacity building. Prac cal exposure of such ac vi es is must for the adapta on of these techniques. SATC is developed by SARDA in the Harranala Village of Balghat District of Madhya Pradesh. The centre is adjacent to Kanha Na onal Park. This centre not only provides the theore cal knowledge regarding different NRM based ac vi es but also is a pool of prac cal exposure of the same. The campus is being developed for promo on of Agro Tourism to farmers and Trainers to enhance and update their knowledge for adapta on in prac ces. The centre is being promoted with the exhibi on of different prac ces as organic agriculture, vegetable cul va on (3 er system), Hi tech Nursery, Vermi compost produc on, Dairy, Goatery, Fishery, Duckery, Soil and Water Conserva on, Lac Promo on, Bio Gas Unit for cooking and ligh ng, Food Processing Centre, etc. The centre is having full residen al facili es with refreshment facili es, training halls, co ages, mud houses, etc. Organic food, pleasant views and fresh air is best felt here.
SARDA GIS Cell With the advent of new technologies, development sector is also following the trend. SARDA has always been in the front line for grasping and converging the use of these new technologies in the field of Rural Development. With such an idea, GIS Cell is set up at our organiza on. SARDA GIS Cell is comprised of technical and management personnel with extensive experience in the fields of IT, GIS and CAD technologies. They are capable of delivering quality services in the areas of Image Processing and Analysis, Data Conversion, Document Archival and Management, and other related IT Applica on areas. SARDA INSTITUTE OF VILLAGE MANAGEMENT SARDA is moving towards creating professionals from rural areas to work for the development of Rural India through SIVM. In the year 2010-11, the management team of SARDA decided to create a platform for the rural youths to be developed as RURAL DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONALS. This resulted in laying foundation stone of SIVM. VISION: Create an environment to develop creativity and dedication among professionals to give their best towards development of society at large. MISSION: Promote sustainable growth and equitable development of Rural India through professional management. The institute finally aims in creating semi professionals to serve the rural sector in development stream. They are trained in diversified field as Basic training in Community Mobilization, formation of CBOs, report writing, documentation, minutes preparation, proposal planning, organizing Gram Sabha Meetings, need identification, resource identification, personality development and communication with local and higher level officials, understanding different government programmes and proper implementations, trainings along with technical aspect as agriculture, forestry, watershed development, bio diversity, health, education, different laws and acts related to social development, disaster management, convergence of development programs, etc. The professionals would be thus acting as resource person for their villages and would contribute effectively for the sustainable development in the development sector. SARDA feels proud in saying that SIVM is a dream comes true for the Organization. We have already started with the six months training programme known as “CERTIFICATE COURSE IN RURAL MANAGEMENT”. The students for the training programme will not be required to pay any fees during the training programme and 100% placement guarantee in NGOs or any other agency working in the Development Sector. SARDA has been one of the prime organizations in research, study, evaluation and planning. We have been providing support to different government, non government and independent agencies in planning and research work. As we have been always following the idea that a great impact could only be through a great planning, we have supported different agencies in planning for different development projects.
