Situation analysis Description of the disaster Algeria has been suffering from a cold wave that began on 16 January 2017. As of 20 January it became clear that additional support would be needed and the Algerian Red Crescent (ARCS) requested DREF support on 20 January. The falling snow and cold weather in Algeria has affected the Eastern, Central and the high plateau regions. The snow has cut off numerous communities and villages, particularly in the mountainous areas, causing losses to livelihoods due to isolation, power cuts and material damages to the residents of these areas. Dwellings have been damaged by the heavy snowfall, especially the tents used by nomadic population. Initial assessments carried out by the ARCS indicate that up to 25,000 families have been affected by the adverse weather conditions to various degrees. In this study, the immunomodulatory effect of honey was evaluated by Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) using ovalbumin as an allergen model. To compare the honey quality, we conducted a range of physicochemical analyses on four different samples from the Tiaret region (Algeria) using the immunosuppressive or immunomodulatory effect in Balb/c mice. Our results show that the injection of 100 μL of honey before 6 hours, 6 hours after and at the same time as the injection of antigen (ovalbumin) causes a significant suppressive activity on production of the IgG isotype by Balb/c mice. This result corroborates this therapeutic virtue ascribed to honey which has resulted in a suppressive demonstration of honey on the humoral immune response.

    REPUBLIQUE ALGERIENNE DEMOCRATIQUE ET POPULAIRE Ministère de l’agriculture et du développement rural Direction Générale des Forêts COMPTE RENDU DE LA CELEBRATION DE LA JOURNEE MONDIALE DES ZONES HUMIDES 2012 EN ALGERIE Comme chaque année, l’Algérie célèbre la journée mondiale des zones humides pour commémorer la signature de la convention de Ramsar, le 2 février 1971, dans la ville Iranienne de Ramsar, le thème suggéré Cette année par la convention porte sur : « le tourisme dans les zones humides : une expérience unique », avec pour slogan « le tourisme responsable, tout benef’ pour les zones humides et les populations» En Algérie, cette journée a été célébrée au niveau central et des structures déconcentrées, gestionnaires des zones humides, que sont les conservations des forêts de wilayas, les parcs nationaux et les centres cynégétiques.
