Situation analysis Description of the disaster Algeria has been suffering from a cold wave that began on 16 January 2017. As of 20 January it became clear that additional support would be needed and the Algerian Red Crescent (ARCS) requested DREF support on 20 January. The falling snow and cold weather in Algeria has affected the Eastern, Central and the high plateau regions. The snow has cut off numerous communities and villages, particularly in the mountainous areas, causing losses to livelihoods due to isolation, power cuts and material damages to the residents of these areas. Dwellings have been damaged by the heavy snowfall, especially the tents used by nomadic population. Initial assessments carried out by the ARCS indicate that up to 25,000 families have been affected by the adverse weather conditions to various degrees. To cope with the situation substantial Government and military resources have been deployed. The current research evaluates on the one part the benefits of SOLAP in detection and location of epidemics outbreaks and discovers on another part the advantages of multi criteria analysis methods in the assessment of health risk threatening the populations in the presence of the risk (presence of infectious cases) and the vulnerability of the population (density, socio-economic level, Habitat Type, climate...) all that, in one coherent and transparent integrated decision-making platform. We seek to provide further explanation of the real factors responsible for the spread of epidemics and its emergence or reemergence. In the end, our study will lead to the automatic generation of a risk map which gives a classification of epidemics outbreaks to facilitate intervention in order of priority. The Child Rights Governance Programme in Save the Children Sweden’s Regional Office for the Mid- dle East and North Africa implemented the activities of the Manara Network: A Civil Society for Child’s Rights in the Middle East and North Africa Region. Work on Child Rights Governance aims to build societies that fulfil children rights by establishing and strengthen- ing the infrastructure necessary for states to effectively implement the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and other child rights obligations. It seeks to support a vibrant civil society pushing children up the po- litical agenda and holding states to account for what they have or haven’t done to realise children’s rights. It is an ef- fective strategy for impacting at scale the lives of millions of children, resulting in structural and lasting change. A discussion on the unresolved problems in the taxonomy of the spiny-spored Terfezia species is conducted after the present results. Herpetology Notes, volume 14: 927-931 (2021) (published online on 24 June 2021) A new provincial record and an updated distribution map for Pleurodeles nebulosus [Guichenot, 1850] (Amphibia: Salamandridae) in Algeria, with a new elevational record for the species Idriss Bouam1,* and Salim Merzougui2 Pleurodeles Michahelles, 1830, commonly known (1885) noted its presence, very probably mistakenly, as ribbed newts, is an endemic genus of the Ibero- from Biskra, which is an arid region located south of the Maghrebian region, with three species described: P. Saharan Atlas and is abiotically unsuitable for this newt nebulosus (Guichenot, 1850), P. poireti (Gervais, species (see Ben Hassine and Escoriza, 2017; Achour 1835), and P. waltl Michahelles, 1830 (Frost, 2021). and Kalboussi, 2020). We here report the presence of a Pleurodeles nebulosus is an Algero-Tunisian endemic seemingly well-established population of P. nebulosus restricted to a very narrow latitudinal range.
