The Twenty Greatest Music Concerts I've Ever Seen
THE TWENTY GREATEST MUSIC CONCERTS I'VE EVER SEEN Whew, I'm done. Let me remind everyone how this worked. I would go through my Ipod in that weird Ipod alphabetical order and when I would come upon an artist that I have seen live, I would replay that concert in my head. (BTW, since this segment started I no longer even have an ipod. All my music is on my laptop and phone now.) The number you see at the end of the concert description is the number of times I have seen that artist live. If it was multiple times, I would do my best to describe the one concert that I considered to be their best. If no number appears, it means I only saw that artist once. Mind you, I have seen many artists live that I do not have a song by on my Ipod. That artist is not represented here. So although the final number of concerts I have seen came to 828 concerts (wow, 828!), the number is actually higher. And there are "bar" bands and artists (like LeCompt and Sam Butera, for example) where I have seen them perform hundreds of sets, but I counted those as "one," although I have seen Lecompt in "concert" also. Any show you see with the four stars (****) means they came damn close to being one of the Top Twenty, but they fell just short. So here's the Twenty. Enjoy and thanks so much for all of your input. And don't sue me if I have a date wrong here and there. -

The Ultimate Forum for Dusty Springfield Fans http://www.dustyspringfield.org.uk/forum/ Soulful Strut / Am I The Same Girl http://www.dustyspringfield.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4385 Soulful Strut / Am I The Same Girl Page 1 of 1 by jeffery Posted: Mon Nov 12, 2012 7:22 am Somewhere in conversation I've heard that Dusty came up with the lyrics to Soulful Strut making it Am I The Same Girl. But in Paul Howes CDS it is said that Dusty's version was recorded before Barbra Acklin's, but released after that one. And no indication that Dusty penned the lyrics. I'm a little confused, and wonder is there any referance to confirm the song's origin of lyrics to Dusty ? Re: Soulful Strut / Am I The Same Girl by Brian Posted: Mon Nov 12, 2012 8:42 am The song was written by Eugene Record (producer of many hits for The Chi-lites) along with Sonny Sanders. It was first recorded by Barbara Acklin (who was Eugene's wife) in September 1968 but not issued immediately. The producer George Davis took the track, removed Barbara's voice and replaced it with a piano solo by Floyd Morris. It was issued in the USA in November 68 going on to reach the US top 3 pop. It was a number onerecord in Canada. It was credited to Young Holt Unlimited (which in fact were the session musicians). Barbara's version was then issued in February 1969, but only reached number 79 in the US pop chart (it did better in the R&B charts). -

EPs and statistics have always been desirable to the record collector, and no definitive book on every EP issued has ever been published. Vintage Records did issue the long deleted “Collectable EPs” (published in 1982) of British EPs, but this was a personal selection chosen by the long gone London record shop, but does contain what they consider over 3700 vintage obscurities. The “British Hit EPs” book I consider as a bolt-on reference book to “Collectable EPs” which focuses on the hit EPs only. The source gleaned from the Record Retailer, Music Week, Record Mirror and New Record Mirror, therefore the combination of the two books does provide a comprehensive guide for the EP researcher. “British Hit EPs” contains a brief history of the EP which is interesting reading, but the “Technical Notes” and the “How The Information is Presented” do need some digesting before ploughing into the data. The EPs are listed per artist in alpha order showing all their releases, issue dates and track listing, and every page has photos, this section finishes at page 132. -
