Despite their close economic relationship since 1965, their conflicting historic and political relationships and deep-seated prejudice against each other have continued. The Korean government’s official ban on the direct import of Japanese cultural products existed until 1997, but various kinds of Japanese cultural products, including popular music, found their way into Korea through various legal and illegal routes and influenced contemporary Korean popular culture. Since 1998, under Korea’s Open- Door Policy, legally available Japanese popular cultural products became widely consumed, especially among young Koreans fascinated by Japan’s quintessentially postmodern popular culture, despite lingering resentments towards Japan.

Long ago on another world, Red and Blue warriors fought continuously, caught in a stalemate. For the sake of settling their dispute, a neutral party named the Moderators intervened in the conflict to minimise the casualties and collateral. They decided to have select champions fight instead. These champions would be imbued with power, and set against each other. The winner of those champions would be the winner of the war. Additionally, to make sure it was fair and neutral, these champions would be selected from another unrelated race. They chose humanity. Now these Kämpfer’s clash in the shadows, unknown to the rest of humanity. In a few short days Natsuru, a normal boy who attends a school physically split in half according to gender, will find himself transformed into a Kämpfer. He is rightly shocked, as unfortunately for him Kämpfers are female. Luckily he is able to transform back, which lasts up until the next day when a gun held by another Kämpfer is rather rudely put against his head. And so the story begins. Have 1000CP to spend on the options below. Origins: You can choose your gender for free. Roll 1d3+15 for your age. Student You will be starting off this jump as an ordinary student. There is little innately special about you, beyond the norm. You have a roof over your head, 3 meals a day, and a family that may or may not be still living in the same house as you. All in all, you are perfectly set to have a relaxing decade if you wished.

  • Winter Holiday Self-Care
Winter Holiday Self-Care 2 Self-Care for the Winter Holiday Season Adapted from: http://www.lifecoachingcenterstone.org/self-care-for-the-holidays/ It would be great if each of us was able to experience the winter months as “the most wonderful time of the year.” The approach of the winter season often brings expectations of perfect family gatherings, holiday magic, and picture-perfect moments. Yet, we know that for many of us, idealized expectations can lead to frustration, loneliness, disappointment, anxiety, sadness and holiday blues. For those of us who may dread the winter holiday season, the reality of life simply contrasts too greatly with a fairy-tale dream –a dream that we carry ourselves, or that others have built for us, or that others carry for themselves. Question: What does the winter holiday season mean for you? Do you dread it? Look forward to it? Couldn’t care less? __________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________

  • The “Pop Pacific” Japanese-American Sojourners and the Development of Japanese Popular Music
The “Pop Pacific” Japanese-American Sojourners and the Development of Japanese Popular Music By Jayson Makoto Chun The year 2013 proved a record-setting year in Japanese popular music. The male idol group Arashi occupied the spot for the top-selling album for the fourth year in a row, matching the record set by female singer Utada Hikaru. Arashi, managed by Johnny & Associates, a talent management agency specializing in male idol groups, also occupied the top spot for artist total sales while seven of the top twenty-five singles (and twenty of the top fifty) that year also came from Johnny & Associates groups (Oricon 2013b).1 With Japan as the world’s second largest music market at US$3.01 billion in sales in 2013, trailing only the United States (RIAJ 2014), this talent management agency has been one of the most profitable in the world. Across several decades, Johnny Hiromu Kitagawa (born 1931), the brains behind this agency, produced more than 232 chart-topping singles from forty acts and 8,419 concerts (between 2010 and 2012), the most by any individual in history, according to Guinness World Records, which presented two awards to Kitagawa in 2010 (Schwartz 2013), and a third award for the most number-one acts (thirty-five) produced by an individual (Guinness World Record News 2012). Beginning with the debut album of his first group, Johnnys in 1964, Kitagawa has presided over a hit-making factory. One should also look at R&B (Rhythm and Blues) singer Utada Hikaru (born 1983), whose record of four number one albums of the year Arashi matched.
