Blood plasma of healthy, forty-seven Van cats (Van Cat Home) fed with standard cat food were involved in the study. Cats were divided into four groups based on age (<1, 2 to 2.5, 3 to 4, > 5) and eye colour (amber-amber, amber-blue, blue-amber, and blue-blue eyes described from left to right), and two groups based on sex (male and female). Plasma IgG, IgA, IgM, α-1 acid glycoprotein, serum amyloid A, and ceruloplasmin concentrations were determined, and the concentrations were found to be 2.20 ± 0.05 mg/mL, 1.05 ± 0.04 mg/mL, 2.52 ± 0.18 mg/mL, 562.00 ± 14.27 µg/mL, 1.49 ± 0.03 µg/mL, and 2.88 ± 0.13 mg/dL, respectively.

Abstract FeLV and FIV infections are reported to occur in higher rates in street cats, cats with ectoparasite It was aimed to determine the prevalence of feline infestation and cats of older age groups (3, 4, 9). The leukaemia virus (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency virus source of the spread of the diseases are asymptomatic (FIV) in Van cats, eradicate virus positive animals and protect viraemic cats. The viruses are excreted with the saliva, virus negative animals from the infections. The study was nasal discharge, urine, vaginal discharge, faeces and performed on 132 Van cats (52 males and 80 females), blood of carrier or sick animals. The infection spreads between 1and 14 years of age. It was found that 4.5% of the cats were positive for FeLV and 3% of them were positive for via contaminated water, food, dishes with the excreted FIV. In conclusion, it is suggested that the detection of FeLV agents and/or direct contact.     THE TURKISH VANKEDISI The white cat from Van – rare and beautiful! You would be forgiven for having never heard of Turkish Vankedisi cats since they have only been known by this name for a relatively short time, and it’s unlikely that you will find them in any book of cats. In Turkey the white cats are considered to be the true Van Kedi (Van cat), however for the last half century it has been the auburn & white cats that we have come to know as the Turkish Van, and of course more recently the other colours as well. History has a lot to answer for, since during that time the word "van" has become a style of coat patterning, meaning as having two coloured "butterfly" head markings and a coloured tail, and for this reason there can be no "white" Turkish Van in the GCCF, since they don't have any markings! So this brings us to the Turkish Vankedisi, a cat identical to the Turkish Van in every way except for its colour. The Turkish Vankedisi is a pure white Turkish cat originating from eastern Turkey, around the region of Van. 'Vankedisi' is the Turkish phrase for cat from Van, and betrays the close relationship that it has with the Turkish Van cat. In fact the Turkish Vankedisi is simply a completely white Turkish Van, and with some registration bodies (e.g. TICA) they are classified as such, and compete in cat shows against their coloured counterparts. Ironically perhaps, it is the Vankedisi that the Turkish people hold in such reverence! Due to the severe restrictions placed on the export of these very special cats very few ever left Turkey, however, in the early 1990's Lois Miles succeeded in obtaining written permission from the Turkish authorities to bring home a white, odd-eyed female.

The present study aimed to determine the seropositivity of FCoV infection and its associated epidemiological variables (risk factors) in domiciled cats in Botucatu, São Paulo, Brazil. Whole blood samples (0.5-1mL) were collected from 151 cats, and sera were extracted by centrifugation. These sera were tested by an commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the detection of IgG anti-FCoV antibodies. The assessed risk factors were age range, breed, gender, reproductive status, outdoor access and rearing mode (living alone or in a group).

    THE TURKISH VAN CAT the swimming cat – stunning & unique Often referred to as Swimming Cats, the Turkish Van originates from Eastern Turkey, and is associated with the area around Lake Van from which it gets its name. The first Turkish Vans appeared in Britain in the late 1950’s, have been brought in by Laura Lushington and Sonya Halliday, who were given a male and a female to take home with them from Turkey. They soon realised that the cats bred true, and sought recognition of the Turkish cat breed through the GCCF. Later they were to give up their Van prefix in order that the breed could be more precisely described as the Turkish Van cat. In cat breeding and showing the word “van” is now used to describe the unique markings that the Turkish Van exhibits. Other breeds now describe cats marked in this fashion as van-patterned, although they have yet to reproduce the clarity and consistency that we see in our Van cats. In fact it is very difficult to produce a perfectly marked Van cat since it is a function of the random white spotting gene, and this randomness leads to many variations on van-patterning. We also see small “thumbprints” of colour sometimes, and legend has it that, as the cats left Noah’s Ark and made their way down Mount Ararat into Van, they were touched by Allah as he blessed them, and they carry this “Mark of Allah” as a coloured thumbprint even still. Turkish Vans are striking in appearance; stunning auburn (or other colour) butterfly markings crown its head, matched by its beautiful flowing faintly ringed auburn tail, contrasting the chalk white coat that embraces its body.
