The Dazzler 151 League Dinner Awards Ma THE Hannah Jones claims T20 awards hat-trick at CWCL Dinner … All the winners from DAZZLER 151 CWCL & CYC Dinners listed … Leigh complete unbeaten season … Sophie Ecclestone in line for ODI debut in West Indies … Clubs invited to apply for small grants funding LEAGUE DINNER AWARDS The Cheshire Women’s Cricket League held another successful annual presentation dinner at Chester Boughton Hall CC last Saturday. For the first time, the same player won the awards for all three disciplines in the same category. Hannah Jones of Didsbury was the best batsman, bowler and fielder according to the statistics for the league’s T20 competitions. A number of awards were only settled after some dramatic events on the last day. Lorna Starkey, captain of league champions Chester Boughton Hall, scored 116, the second highest individual score of the year, on the final day, allowing her to overhaul what had looked like a comfortable lead for Emma Barlow. Perhaps the most closely fought award was the division two bowling award. At the start of the final matches, six bowlers were locked together on nine wickets – Stockport Trinity’s Katy Hart and Olivia Smith, Oxton’s Ellie Grisedale and the Wistaston Village trio of Alison Smith, Hannah Bratt and Emily Mackenzie. Hart’s two wickets on September 11 ensured she moved into the outright lead and thus bagged the award. The series involves five matches, all to be played in Jamaica, between October 8 and 19. The last three matches will be played on the men’s Test ground at Sabina Park. The next meeting of the League Committee will be on Tuesday October 11 at 1930 at Oakmere CC. As clubs may wish to obtain funding for winter training costs, the League has decided to commence a new annual cycle of Small Grants applications at this meeting. Any club wishing to obtain up to £200 of funding from the League should submit an application via the official Small Grants form. Applications can also be made nearer the start of the 2017 season if you wish, however please note that the League will not consider these applications at the AGM or January’s Rules meeting, and that late February / early March may be the next opportunity to obtain a grant. The AGM will be on Tuesday November 15 at 1930 at Lymm Oughtrington Park CC. Before either of these meetings, the League will need to know about any clubs who wish to do any of the following, which would affect the numbers in each division of the league: Play in division 3 in 2017, having played in division 2 this year Play in division 2 in 2017, having played in division 3 this year Field a 2nd XI for the first time Field just one team having fielded a 2nd XI previously Join the league’s senior competitions for the first time Resign from the league The League does not wish to rush any club into a decision by the date of the October meeting, but if any club has reached a final decision by this time the matter can be considered earlier so that the number of issues on the AGM agenda can be reduced.

Porthill wrap up Western Division with two matches to spare despite being given another scare by Upton … Didsbury edge the first of the two top of the table clashes in the Eastern Division, but Trinity remain in the hunt … September is ECB’s Women’s Cricket Big Month CHESHIRE WOMEN’S LEAGUE Summer Series Western Division – August 30: Porthill Park 60-9 (30; Becky Cripwell 29, Philippa Dagger 3-5, Madi Arthur 2-9, Hannah McGowan 2- 10, Sophie Morris 2-11) (25pts) Upton 51-9 (30; Charlie Scudder 12, Amy Scerri 3-12, Cripwell 2-2, Lucy Shenton 2-4, Grace Potts 2- 5) (5pts) • Porthill Park are the winners of the Western Division for 2020, sealing the honours with two matches to spare. The Potteries-based club have undoubtedly been the best team, but once again didn’t have everything their own way as they wrapped up the title. However, despite posting a target of just two runs per over, Porthill’s bowlers took early wickets and never relinquished their grip. Amongst some impressive bowling figures Philippa Dagger’s outstanding season for Upton continued; and Becky Cripwell conceded just two runs in her six overs, having also held the Porthill innings together earlier, and she is a strong contender for the league’s best all-rounder of the season. Chester Boughton Hall 79-7 (20; Ali Cutler 45, Molly Price 3-8, Alexa Harrison 3-14) (25pts) Oxton 32 (18.3; Freya Davies 12, Gemma Rose 3-4, Tilly Buss 2-0, Nandu Valliyil 2-7) (4pts) • Ali Cutler’s innings stood out on a day when no other batsman passed 12.

  • England Women V. South Africa Women Royal London One Day Series the 1St Central County Ground, Hove
England Women v. South Africa Women Royal London One Day Series The 1st Central County Ground, Hove. Tuesday 12th June 2018. Sussex’s Sarah Taylor scored her seventh one-day hundred as England beat South Africa by 69 runs at The 1st Central County Ground to set up a decider in the three-match series at Canterbury on Friday. The 29-year-old was named Player of the Match for her 118 from 106 balls. She shared a second- wicket partnership of 156 in 23 overs with opener Tammy Beaumont, whose 101 was her fourth ODI century in the last two years. They helped England to an imposing total of 331-6 from their 50 overs but South Africa were kept in contention by a superb 117 from opener Lizelle Lee, who pressed the accelerator after a circumspect start, racing from 69 to 100 in just 14 balls. It took a Sussex combination to make the breakthrough when Lee, who hit 13 fours and five sixes, was caught at backward point by Danni Wyatt off Georgia Elwiss, who had just returned to the attack at the Cromwell Road End. With the required rate above nine an over by then, South Africa’s race was run and they finished on 262-9 with Elwiss taking 1 for 43 from eight overs. Both she and Wyatt held two catches. England captain Heather Knight admitted she wasn’t sure what she would have done had she won the toss. But the same pitch used for last Thursday’s Sussex Sharks-Australia game held few terrors and England’s openers Amy Jones and Beaumont set the tone with 71 in 13.3 overs before Jones (29) mis-timed a pull to mid-on.

Photo: Getty Images Jul 16, 2019 11:00 BST England Women Announce Ashes Test Squad England Women have named a squad of 13 for their must-win Kia Women's Test. Heather Knight (Berkshire, cap) Tammy Beaumont (Kent) Katherine Brunt (Yorkshire) Kate Cross (Lancashire) Sophie Ecclestone (Lancashire) Georgia Elwiss (Sussex) Kirstie Gordon (Nottinghamshire) Amy Jones (Warwickshire) Laura Marsh (Kent) Nat Sciver (Surrey) Anya Shrubsole (Berkshire) Lauren Winfield (Yorkshire) Sarah Taylor (Sussex, wicketkeeper) Kirstie Gordon - who impressed in last winter's ICC Women's World T20 before picking up a stress fracture - is brought into the squad after taking eight wickets in the warm-up fixture between Australia and England Women's Academy. England's warm-up game - against Australia A - ended in victory, with centuries for Tammy Beaumont, Amy Jones and Nat Sciver. Danni Wyatt and Jenny Gunn, who were a part of the ODI squad, will stay with England Women's Academy to take part in T20s against Australia A and Ireland, the latter fixtures a replacement for Ireland's series against Zimbabwe which was cancelled. Fran Wilson and Alex Hartley will stay with the Test group in Taunton as cover. England captain Heather Knight said: "It's obviously a very important match for us and we need to win it to stay in the series. "The beauty of the multi-format points series means we're still very much in the battle, a normal bilateral series that finished like the ODIs would have been finished but we can get back to 6-4 with a win in the Test match and that's exciting.
