Ma THE Hannah Jones claims T20 awards hat-trick at CWCL Dinner … All the winners from DAZZLER 151 CWCL & CYC Dinners listed … Leigh complete unbeaten season … Sophie Ecclestone in line for ODI debut in West Indies … Clubs invited to apply for small grants funding LEAGUE DINNER AWARDS The Cheshire Women’s Cricket League held another successful annual presentation dinner at Chester Boughton Hall CC last Saturday. For the first time, the same player won the awards for all three disciplines in the same category. Hannah Jones of Didsbury was the best batsman, bowler and fielder according to the statistics for the league’s T20 competitions. A number of awards were only settled after some dramatic events on the last day. Lorna Starkey, captain of league champions Chester Boughton Hall, scored 116, the second highest individual score of the year, on the final day, allowing her to overhaul what had looked like a comfortable lead for Emma Barlow. Perhaps the most closely fought award was the division two bowling award. At the start of the final matches, six bowlers were locked together on nine wickets – Stockport Trinity’s Katy Hart and Olivia Smith, Oxton’s Ellie Grisedale and the Wistaston Village trio of Alison Smith, Hannah Bratt and Emily Mackenzie. Hart’s two wickets on September 11 ensured she moved into the outright lead and thus bagged the award. The series involves five matches, all to be played in Jamaica, between October 8 and 19. The last three matches will be played on the men’s Test ground at Sabina Park. The next meeting of the League Committee will be on Tuesday October 11 at 1930 at Oakmere CC. As clubs may wish to obtain funding for winter training costs, the League has decided to commence a new annual cycle of Small Grants applications at this meeting. Any club wishing to obtain up to £200 of funding from the League should submit an application via the official Small Grants form. Applications can also be made nearer the start of the 2017 season if you wish, however please note that the League will not consider these applications at the AGM or January’s Rules meeting, and that late February / early March may be the next opportunity to obtain a grant. The AGM will be on Tuesday November 15 at 1930 at Lymm Oughtrington Park CC. Before either of these meetings, the League will need to know about any clubs who wish to do any of the following, which would affect the numbers in each division of the league: Play in division 3 in 2017, having played in division 2 this year Play in division 2 in 2017, having played in division 3 this year Field a 2nd XI for the first time Field just one team having fielded a 2nd XI previously Join the league’s senior competitions for the first time Resign from the league The League does not wish to rush any club into a decision by the date of the October meeting, but if any club has reached a final decision by this time the matter can be considered earlier so that the number of issues on the AGM agenda can be reduced.
