The show was set at a small independent animation studio, and was co-created by Detective Dippy Duck Burns and Herbert Klynn. Magoo and Gerald McBoing-Boingamongst many other cartoons. The premiere episode introduces Skip Tarkenton Carreya somewhat naive and optimistic young man who has come to Hollywood looking for a job as a cartoonist. When he arrives at a low-budget animation company called Buddy Winkler Productions, he finds out Buddy Winkler has just died, and the company desperately needs new blood. Other Duck Factory employees seen regularly on the show were man-of-a-thousand-cartoon voices Wally Wooster played by real-life cartoon voice artist Don Messick ; cynical, sometimes lazy comedy writer Marty Fenneman played by real-life comedy writer Jay Tarses ; veteran artist and animator Brooks Carmichael; younger storyboard artist Roland Culp; sarcastic editor Andrea Lewin; and hard-nosed, penny-pinching business manager Aggie Aylesworth. Buddy Winkler Productions was now owned by Buddy's young, ditzy but good-hearted widow, Mrs. Sheree Winkler Teresa GanzelDetective Dippy Duck former topless ice dancer who had been married to Buddy for all of three weeks before his death. Seen in some episodes were clips from various "Dippy Duck" shows the Buddy Winkler crew were working on -- sometimes fully animated, sometimes in pencil sketch or animatic form. The opening and closing credits were also animated. -

BBC Annual Report 2012/13 BBC Executive’s responses to follow‐up questions to 22 October 2013 oral evidence session Lord Hall’s vision for the BBC 1. Given Lord Hall’s vision for iPlayer and the ability for users to become their own schedulers, assembling the content they like when they like from the BBC, will the BBC need as broad a portfolio of channels in future as it does today? Answer: Lord Hall’s speech on 8th October 2013 was explicit about the continued popularity of television channels, which serve a different need from services like iPlayer. Channels are social media, bringing people together in an environment where a channel scheduler has done the work of collecting together a set of programmes that they think viewers will want to watch. iPlayer still only accounts for around 3% of all BBC television viewing – the vast majority of what people watch today has been delivered via a television channel. But we also think channels will be different in the future – not just the traditional stream of linear programming. Users will be able to go back in time – through the backwards programme guide on YouView, for example. They will be able to go into the future or create their own schedule from programmes released early. Channels will know what users like to watch and suggest what they might want to watch next. Through services like the Connected Red Button, viewers of channels will be able to access extra coverage, alternative programmes, radio stations or content the BBC has made especially for online. -

'Family' in BBC Pre-School Television Abstract
‘Surely the most natural scenario in the world’: Representations of ‘Family’ in BBC Pre-school Television Abstract: Historically, the majority of work on British children’s television has adopted either an institutional or an audience focus, with the texts themselves often overlooked. This neglect has meant that questions of representation in British children’s television – including issues such as family, gender, class or ethnicity - have been infrequently analysed in the UK context. In this article, we adopt a primarily qualitative methodology and analyse the various textual manifestations of ‘family’, group, or community as represented in a selected number of BBC pre-school programmes. In doing so, we question the (limited amount of) international work that has examined representations of the family in children’s television, and argue that nuclear family structures do not predominate in this sphere. Keywords: Family * Community * Pre-school television * CBeebies * BBC * Gender 1 In 2009, Daily Mail journalist Laura Kemp discussed watching CBeebies with her young son, and she was vocal about the fact that she didn’t like what she saw: The message is clear: nursery is normal, fun and nothing to be scared of. But as a stay-at-home mum, I feel undermined, undervalued and angry. Not a single programme in the channel's repertoire is set at home with a mother - which is surely the most natural scenario in the world… But why am I left out - the woman who chooses to care for her own child? In its paranoid desperation to embrace every minority group, [she notes the apparent ethnic diversity of the channel] the BBC has overlooked the traditional family (Kemp 2009). -
