PROCESSIONAL HYMN | NEH 271

Alleluya, sing to Jesus, His the scepter, his the throne; Alleluya, his the triumph, His the victory alone: Hark the songs of peaceful Sion Thunder like a mighty food; Jesus out of every nation, Hath redeemed us by his blood.

Alleluya, not as orphans Are we left in sorrow now; Alleluya, he is near us, Faith believes, nor questions how; Though the cloud from sight received him When the forty days were o'er, Shall our hearts forget his promise, 'I am with you evermore'?

Alleluya, Bread of Angels, Thou on earth our food, our stay; Alleluya, here the sinful Flee to thee from day to day; Intercessor, Friend of sinners, Earth's Redeemer, plead for me, Where the songs of all the sinless Sweep across the crystal sea.

Alleluya, King eternal, Thee the Lord of lords we own; Alleluya, born of Mary, Earth thy footstool, heaven thy throne: Thou within the veil hast entered, Robed in fesh, our great High Priest; Thou on earth both Priest and Victim In the Eucharistic Feast. Words: W Chatterton Dix (1837-98) Music: Hyfrydol, Richard Huw Pritchard (1811-87) | 5 Priest +Blessed be God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. All Blessed be God’s Kingdom now and for ever.

Priest The Lord be with you. All And also with you.

The Presider welcomes the people and introduces the Mass.

CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION Minister As we prepare to celebrate the mystery of God’s love, revealed in Word and Sacrament, let us call to mind our sins. Silence

All Merciful God, our maker and our judge, we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, and in what we have failed to do: we have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves; we repent, and are sorry for all our sins. Father, forgive us. Strengthen us to love and obey you in newness of life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

(Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy)

6 | The Presider pronounces God’s forgiveness.

Priest Almighty God, who has promised forgiveness to all who turn to him in faith: +pardon you and set you free from all your sins, strengthen you in all goodness and keep you in eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. All Amen.

GLORIA

The people remain standing for the singing of the Gloria.

| 7 COLLECT Priest Lord Jesus Christ, we thank you that in this wonderful sacrament you have given us the memorial of your passion: grant us so to reverence the sacred mysteries of your body and blood that we may know within ourselves and show forth in our lives the fruits of your redemption; for you are alive and reign with the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. All Amen.

MINISTRY OF THE WORD

The people sit for the first reading from scripture. FIRST READING | EXODUS 24.3-8 Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord and all the ordinances; and all the people answered with one voice, and said, ‘All the words that the Lord has spoken we will do.’ And Moses wrote down all the words of the Lord. He rose early in the morning, and built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and set up twelve pillars, corresponding to the twelve tribes of Isral. He sent young men of the people of Isral, who offered burnt-offerings and sacrifced oxen as offerings of well-being to the Lord. Moses took half of the blood and put it in basins, and half of the blood he dashed against the altar. Then he took the book of the covenant, and read it in the hearing of the people; and they said, ‘All that the Lord has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient.’ Moses took the blood and dashed it on the people, and said, ‘See the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you in accordance with all these words.’

8 | PSALM 116.10-17

In response to the reading, the Psalm is led by the Cantor

All I will offer to You a thanksgiving sacrifce, and call on the name of the Lord

10 I kept my faith, even when I said, ‘I am greatly afficted’; 11 I said in my consternation, ‘Everyone is a liar.’ /R 12 What shall I return to the Lord for all his bounty to me? 13 I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord, 14 I will pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people. /R 15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful ones. 16 O Lord, I am your servant; I am your servant, the child of your serving-maid. You have loosed my bonds. 17 I will offer to you a thanksgiving sacrifce and call on the name of the Lord.

SECOND READING | 1 CORINTHIANS 10.14-21

Therefore, my dear friends, fee from the worship of idols. I speak as to sensible people; judge for yourselves what I say. The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a sharing in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a sharing in the body of Christ? Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread. Consider the people of Isral; are not those who eat the sacrifces partners in the altar? What do I imply then? That food sacrifced to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything? No, I imply that what pagans sacrifce, they sacrifce to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be partners with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.

Reader For the Word of the Lord, All thanks be to God.

10 | GOSPEL | MARK 14.12-16, 22-26 The people remain standing while the minister proclaims the Gospel. Minister Alleluia, alleluia. I am the living bread that came down from heaven, says the Lord. Whoever eats of this bread will live for ever. All Alleluia.

Minister The Lord be with you All and also with you. Minister The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Mark. All +Glory to you, Lord Jesus Christ. On the frst day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb is sacrifced, his disciples said to him, ‘Where do you want us to go and make the preparations for you to eat the Passover?’ So he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, ‘Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you; follow him, and wherever he enters, say to the owner of the house, “The Teacher asks, Where is my guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?” He will show you a large room upstairs, furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there.’ So the disciples set out and went to the city, and found everything as he had told them; and they prepared the Passover meal.

While they were eating, he took a loaf of bread, and after blessing it he broke it, gave it to them, and said, ‘Take; this is my body.’ Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks he gave it to them, and all of them drank from it. He said to them, ‘This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many. Truly I tell you, I will never again drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.’

When they had sung the hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

Minister This is the Gospel of the Lord. All Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

SERMON | MTHR SUE

Following the sermon a short period of silence is observed.

| 11 AFFIRMATION OF FAITH

The people stand.

Minister Let us together affrm the faith of the Church. All We believe in one God, the Father, the almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucifed under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorifed, who has spoken through the prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the +resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
