Broadwater Farm AUGUST 2018 NEWSLETTER

Broadwater Farm Community Voting Day On Saturday 30 June, the first ever Broadwater Farm Community Voting Day took place at Broadwaters Inclusive Learning Unit.

On a glorious sunny day more than 100 people packed into the school’s hall to listen to ‘Dragon’s Den’ style presentations from 29 individuals and groups who were hoping to win money for their projects. Following each presentation residents filled in their voting cards – writing a number between one to ten – and those with the most marks received funding of up to £5,000 from a £75,000 pot. “I really wanted to come along today and see what projects the community are voting for in Broadwater Farm,” said Sergeant Mags Lillywhite of the local policing team, manning one of the stalls in the hall. “It’s really nice for us to be involved and interesting to see what does matter to people here.” Of the 29 groups who presented 15 won full funding for their projects and two received partial funding.

“I am so happy and excited and can’t wait to get started!” Elizabeth Lahav, Streetz Ahead (Dance Giants and Pan in the ).
