BORDON FUTURE SKILLS CENTRE (Text provided by Steve Gilder, Manager, Future Skills Centre) The Bordon Future Skills Centre (FSC) continues to go from strength to strength as we approach the half way stage of our second academic year. The first year yielded success rates of 97% and an attendance rate of 92%, both figures being well above national averages for construction courses. We had 25 students in Year 1 which has increased to 69 in Year 2 - this includes 23 apprentices working for companies operating in the local community. A number of the Year 2 students progressed from their first year onto higher level courses or into apprenticeships at the FSC. We continue to engage with employers through our work experience programme and visits to construction projects. We are also working alongside county, district and parish Councils, as well as community organisations in enrichment activities to ensure that students at the FSC get the best experience and making them ‘employment ready’. For further information and to apply for courses starting in September 2019, visit www.bcot.ac.uk/bordonfsc
